Â Then Come out to UW Entrepreneurship Society's end-of-term event where you'll have a chance to network, enjoy scrumptious free food, meet people who share similar ideals, discuss your ideas and have the opportunity to participate in a pitch competition with feedback provided by experienced entrepreneurs. And who knows, you might just meet your co-founder there. Action speaks louder than words so come out and prove to everyone, but more importantly, to yourself why your idea will succeed. Â The cherry on top of the event will be our feature guest: Alfred Lui Alfred is an active member in Internet of Things start-up community. Alfred founded the San Francisco Internet of Things Meetup in Feb 2013. In the fall of 2013, he help organized TEDxSF. He is also a Managing Director of FounderDating, a global online community of start up founders. He will be talking about his journey from graduation until now, his involvement in the start-up community, UX design, consumer wearables, and more. Alfred graduated from Electrical Engineering at University of Waterloo in 1997. Alfred also holds a Master Degree in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University and Master Degree in Design Methods from IIT Institute of Design. Alfred spend the first 7 years of his career developing global enterprise systems. Since 2004, Alfred has been focusing on user experience design, for companies such as Motorola, Nokia, Greenpeace, PayPal, The BBC and Vodafone. He was recently the User Experience Director of Jawbone, where he led a team of designers to create Jawbone UP24, their latest wearable health tracker. Alfred Lui has come to speak about his experiences, judge your pitches, answer your burning questions or just have a nice chat. 8 pitches...3 min each...4 prizes of $500. Come watch Waterloo students pitch their business ideas to a live audience! The Business Plan Competition The Business Plan Competition will be held on the morning of November 20th at the University of Waterloo in the Student Life Centre (SLC). This will be a private competition where eight selected companies will be asked to pitch their business plans to a panel of judges for an opportunity to win prize money: first place $5000, second place $2000, and third place $1000. Winners will be announced after the Elevator Pitch Competition. The Elevator Pitch Competition The Elevator Pitch Competition will also be held on November 20th in the SLC. The competition takes place in the great hall from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. This is a public event so you will be pitching to an audience as well as a panel of entrepreneurs for an opportunity to win 1 of 4 prizes of $500. Lunch will be provided!
Register to watch students pitch their ideas for Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre's Nicol Entrepreneurial Award Competition in the SLC Great Hall on November 20th from 11:30 to 1:30pm - lunch will be provided!
