hey can i just say that one of the concepts i love in star wars (and wish they did more with) was how shit (specifically technology) can just theoretically last forever with enough upkeep? it’s done for laughs in kotor when it’s implied that the sandcrawlers that the jawas use in the movie era were actually left there by czerka corp way back when, but then tcw and rebels actually take it seriously. the droid that helps younglings build their first lightsaber in tcw does it in an old republic vessel, and he himself claims to be as old as the order itself or nearly so; he has the records of every jedi and their lightsaber in his databanks. leia and ezra steal some old hammerhead-class ships in rebels, and it’s implied that they date back to the old republic as well (though more bane-era than revan’s). said hammerheads are used in rouge one as well (in one of my fav sequences). the mando’ade refit and reforge the same beskar for their armor as it passes through the generations.
