the stages of earth's history have unfolded , not gradually but , in abrupt cataclysms of cascading revolution. following the pattern of tension built slowly then tension released quickly , all previous creatures , places , & atmospheres have been suddenly sundered into annihilation; whether annihilation through decreation into nothingness or annihilation through recreation into something new. the next immanent change will not be different.
