After 10 seasons, 554 regular-season games, and a decade of relentless perimeter defense, former Boston Celtics and Miami Heat guard Josh Richardson is officially hanging up his sneakers.

Richardson, 32, announced his retirement on Instagram with a message reflecting on his journey from an unheralded second-round pick out of Tennessee to a reliable two-way contributor in the NBA:

"I always gave my best, that's why I can say this with no regret... It wasn't set up for me at any point in my career, and from high school, college, and the pros, I humbly worked my butt off every day to be the best that I could be."

Drafted 40th overall in 2015 by Miami, Richardson carved out a role as a premier 3-and-D wing. Across his 10-year career, he suited up for six teams—including a notable stretch with the Boston Celtics during the 2021–22 season before being dealt to San Antonio in the transaction that brought Derrick White to Boston.

He finishes his NBA journey with career averages of 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Former teammates like Dwyane Wade and Bam Adebayo jumped into the comments to celebrate his hustle, with Wade calling him "the coolest" and praising their time "in the trenches" together.
