Fighting games have been slowly gaining popularity at the turn of the new generation with big name sequels and reboots being announced at E3. NetherRealm Studios is quick to continue this momentum with their brutal franchiseMortal Kombat. The series seemed to be winding down with the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube generation, but back in 2011 a major reboot jumpstarted the franchise and the fighting genre. After months of fan speculation since the release of Pokémon X and Y, Pokéfans can finally rejoice that Hoenn is confirmed. Following the remakes of the first two generations of Pokémon games, Nintendo continues their trend by remaking the third generation, Sapphire and Ruby. The original games released in 2003 for the , and made innovative strides for the Pokémon franchise. Alongside introducing 135 new Pokémon, it also innovated the combat style by introducing dual battles and incorporating weather elements that affect the battlefield.
