In ancient Egypt, the feather of Ma’at (an ostrich feather) symbolized truth, morality, justice, balance, order, and law. It was also the feather used in the weighing of the heart ceremony, which determined whether or not a person lived a just life and if they had, they could safely pass into the after life. It may be for this very reason, that ostrich feathers are worn upon the head dress of Knight Templar regalia as well as many other orders such as the Knights of Malta.

I like how diverse lodges are. Some of them look like Greek or Egyptian styled temples, some are painted to resemble the heavens or night sky, and others just look totally out there.
