To have a future-proof career, designers need to master communication. Specific tools and platforms are continually evolving, but storytelling will always be at the core of what it means to design. If a designer can effectively pitch ideas, and make it easy for others to see and understand processes in their documentation, they will be ready to take on new challenges as the digital boundary evolves.

With design, it gets more complicated. In order to protect themselves from going deep into design, UI/UX designers take all the visually distracting elements out of the equation. To make it time-efficient, designers have to investigate multiple directions without overextending, so their decision-making skills have to be on point. As I’ve learned, wireframes help designers be reinforced in their view of the options chosen or change directions before it’s too late.

There is a race for consumer-friendly AR headsets, and the number of manufacturers is on the rise. It’s only a matter of time before an affordable headset makes waves in the consumer market. With so much happening in this space, design and experience will continue to be the differentiator between these products.
