Though the Executive wasn't sure whether he could be trained to preform the same duties Maera was capable of on a regular basis. At the very least, he would make for a good lapdog, something that Archer wasn't complaining about in the slightest.
"If anything, I would rather you take my place. Consider it my dying wish, should anything ever happen to me- which, as you mentioned, is extraordinarily likely in our line of work." He got to his feet after that, giving the Normal type one final pat, before turning his attention back to his fellow Executive. "My apologies; it wasn't my intention to come off as such a killjoy. I do appreciate the gift." The Furfrou in question didn't seem to be paying much attention to the conversation at hand, though upon realizing he wouldn't be receiving additional pets, he sat down with a huff.
Hastily presses the button on the ball to release said Furfrou, before shoving it into Archerās hand.
"HappyĀ late birthdayā¦ Sorry for not being around for the occasion.ā
He glanced down at the canine in question, holding out a hand for the Furfrou to tentatively sniff.
"It doesn't really matter." Archer said, his tone light, but betraying no emotion. "Birthdays come and go; they aren't really that important. They're just a constant reminder of one's mortality, if anything. I have no need for that."
