“When Dylan was about nine years old, I contracted a nasty eye infection that persisted despite several trips to the doctor. Dylan had been concerned, checking my eyes often to see if they had improved. He was always a physically affectionate child, and I can still summon the sense memory of his hand on my shoulder as he peered anxiously into my eyes. While I was still healing, I discovered a tiny winged horse made of folder paper carefully placed on my desk, along with a note in his childish handwriting. The note said, “I hope my get well Pegasus makes you well. I made him espessially for you. Love, Dylan.”

Bullying at Columbine
here’s some of the bullying that eric and dylan had to endure while at columbine. it’s honestly atrocious how nothing was done. - “The athletes threw Skittles candy and food at them,” said John Savage. - Hoffschneider and his friends surrounded Harris and Klebold’s table and Hoffschneider taunted them thustly, “Why don’t you two fags kiss? You guys are such sweethearts.” - “Columbine is a clean, good place except for those rejects (Eric Harris, Dylan Klebold and other outcasts) … Sure, we teased them. But what do you expect with kids who come to school with weird hairdos and horns on their hats? It’s not just the jocks; the whole school’s disgusted with them. They’re a bunch of homos… If you want to get rid of someone usually you tease ‘em. So the whole school would call them homos…,” said Columbine student Evan Todd. - They were sitting in the library wearing their ridiculous heavy black coats on a warm spring day last April. A group of girls was sniggering at the table next to them, and Eric finally asked what they were laughing at. One of them told him, ‘You guys look alike, talk alike and are always together. We just want to know when you’re getting married!’ A look of rage came over Eric’s face and he made a fist at the girl. ‘Shut up!’ he shouted. Dylan got up and screamed, ‘You’re all so stupid! Everyone in this school is stupid! You better watch it!’ They both stormed out of the library, kicking chairs as they went. - According to Dustin Thurmon, teachers did not intervene when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were harassed in class. - Dylan Klebold was made fun of in gym for being uncoordinated. - Eric Harris was relentlessly made fun of in gym class because he was bad at sports and refused to take off his shirt. In one instance, he was held down in gym class by several people and battered in the face over and over by a volleyball. - Former Columbine student Brooks Brown recounted one incident: ‘I was smoking cigarettes with [Klebold and Harris] when a bunch of football players drove by, yelled insults, and threw a glass bottle that shattered near Dylan’s feet. I was pissed, but Eric and Dylan didn’t even flinch. ‘Don’t worry about it, man,’ Dylan said. ‘It happens all the time.’“ - Once, a student reported them to the administration for allegedly having brought drugs to school, just to humiliate them for a laugh. Harris and Klebold were dramatically removed from class and searched – as were their lockers and cars. No drugs were found, but the damage was done. - One female student recounted how, when she was a Columbine freshman, some jocks spotted her talking to Dylan Klebold in the school hallway between classes. After she walked away from him, one of the bullies slammed her against the lockers and called her a “fag lover.” None of the students came to help her – and when asked later why she didn’t report the incident to the administration, she replied, “It wouldn’t do any good because they wouldn’t do anything about it.” - People surrounded them in the commons and threw ketchup covered tampons all over them, laughing at them, calling them fags,“ Brown says. “That happened while teachers watched. They couldn’t fight back. They wore the ketchup all day and went home covered with it.” “I know Dylan told his mother that it was the worst day of his life,” said Chad Laughlin. - Sara Schweitzberger, 15, had a gym class with Mr. Klebold, and said it was obvious he felt socially ostracized. “He really felt unloved,” she said. “He wasn’t so bad. He was lonely. I just wish I could give him a hug and tell him that I care.” - Newsweek quotes a classmate saying that the two often walked the halls of Columbine “with their heads down, because if they looked up they’d get thrown into lockers and get called a fag.”

School Shooters Who Wore Personalized Shirts During Their Attacks
Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, the two perpetrators of the Columbine High School Massacre. On April 20, 1999, Harris and Klebold murdered 11 students and a teacher and injured 24 before committing suicide. During the attack, Klebold wore the black t-shirt on the left side of the photo, displaying the word “wrath”, while Harris wore the “natural selection” t-shirt on the right. The two additionally wore black trench coats at the start of the shooting.
18-year-old Pekka Eric Auvinen, perpetrator of the Jokela School Shooting, who wore his “humanity is overrated” shirt. In November of 2007 Auvinen shot and killed a total of 8 people, injured an additional 13, and subsequently shot himself in the head. Auvinen later succumbed to his wounds in a local hospital. This was the second school shooting to take place in the entirety of Finland’s history.
Tj Lane, aged 17 at the time of his attack, executed 3 of his male classmates and injured 3 more at Chardon High School. On February 7, 2012, the day of the shooting, Lane wielded a Ruger MK III .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun and wore a grey pull-over bearing the word “killer”.
Lane is shown here again, later in time, at court. He had scribbled the word “killer” on yet another shirt and concealed it. After entering the courtroom Lane discarded his dress-shirt, revealing what was underneath to the family members of those he had murdered. The judge present claimed to not have seen the atrocity, otherwise immediate action would have been taken.
Eminem and Columbine
I am an Eminem Fan for years now and when I started to get more and more into True Crime I was surprised to find a lot of his Lyrics mentioning Columbine which I never really realised before. Of course he also mentioned other murderers or events, like Ted Bundy and the Aurora theater shooting but I wanted to start with the Columbine lyrics because there’s a lot of material. So let’s start:
The Way I Am, 2000 0:00-0:16 When a dude’s getting bullied and shoots up his school And they blame it on Marilyn and the heroin Where were the parents at? And look where it’s at! Middle America, now it’s a tragedy Now it’s so sad to see, an upper-class city Havin’ this happening Marshall states that he thinks that he thinks that not music is the reason for the shooting but bullying and the parents. But as we all know Marilyn Manson was partly blamed for Columbine by the media. Em is also making fun of the fact that Columbine was the first shooting that people cared this much about although there have been a lot of shootings but now it happened at a “nice” school. There is an alternative version of this song featuring Marilyn Manson (x) He performed it live with Manson (x and x) Manson also appeared in the official video (x)
Remember me, 2000 0:17-0:30 Came home and somebody musta broke in the back window And stole two loaded machine guns and both of my trenchcoats Sick, sick dreams of picnic scenes Two kids, sixteen, with M-16’s and ten clips each And them shits reach through six kids each
Em is making fun of the idea that musicians like him are a bad influence because he is not the one who gives these kids their weapons.
And as we all know, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold both wore a Trenchcoat when the attack started, that’s why „both of my Trenchcoats“ were stolen. And so he thinks that they were stolen to start another Columbine. And when you have these „two kids“ with guns that, when you shoot them, „reach through six kids each“ you have 12 dead kids. And as we all know, during the Columbine massacre died 12 kids (and one adult). By the way, Eminem needed two months to write his whole verse on this song while Sticky Fingaz wrote his verse in one day.
I’m Back, 2000 0:30-0:41 I take seven [kids] from [Columbine] Stand ‘em all in line, add an AK-47, a revolver, a 9 A MAC-11 and it oughta solve the problem of mine And that’s a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time
This is probably the most well known Columbine reference made by Eminem. This album came out one year after the massacre so it was still an sensitive subject. Therefore his label censored these two words (Kids and Columbine), even on the explicit version of the album. I don’t think I have to explain what exactly this lyric means, it’s pretty clear. In his book he states this:
“ I was getting shit about the Columbine reference on “I’m Back” and the label was telling me that I wasn’t gonna be able to say it. My whole thing was, what is the big fucking deal? That shit happens all the time. Why is that topic so touchy as opposed to, say a four-year-old kid drowning? Why isn’t that considered a huge tragedy? People die in the city all the time. People get shot, people get stabbed, raped, mugged, killed and all kinds of shit. What the fuck is the big deal with Columbine that makes it separate from any other tragedy in America?”
In 2015 a 15 year-old boy was arrested. He posted these lyrics on Instagram and added “Cause I’m just like shady and just as crazy as the world was over that whole Y2K thing” The origiginal lyrics are “ ‘Cause (I'mmmm) Shady, they call me as crazy As the world was over this whole Y2K thing”
When authorities searched the boy’s home they found weaponry and eventually arrested him. He denied any knowledge of the weapons and said he didn’t post this text on Instagram.
White America, 2002 0:42-0:48 White America, I could be one of your kids White America, little Eric looks just like this
In this song it’s not only about the Lyrics but also about the music video. With “little Eric” he mentioned Eric Harris but it was also meant as an example for a typical white kid. He is from middle america because his name is in the middle of amERICa. The interesting part is, as I said, the video. Where you can see news of an school shooting during “I could be one of your kids” And during “little Eric looks just like this” you can see one of those typical yearbook pictures and the house of the school shooter. The house looks a bit like the one the Harrises had.
When these lines get repeated you can see a boy full of (probably) blood stepping out of the map of america. On his shirt is written “I am Eric”.
Rap God, 2013 0:49-0:54 I’ll take seven kids from Columbine Put ‘em all in a line, add an AK-47, a revolver and a 9
This was the first time we could hear the Columbine Line uncensored. Eminem didn’t rap all of the “I’m back” lines because he just wanted to “See if I get away with it now that I ain’t as big as I was” As you can hear, he got away with it.
Eminem is one of the few people who openly give their sympathy for the two shooters. He admitted to be interested in serial killers in this statement: “I did find myself watching a lot of documentaries on serial killers, I mean, I always had a thing for them. I’ve always been intrigued by them and I found that watching movies about killers sparked something in me.The way a serial killer’s mind works, just the psychology of them is pretty fucking crazy. I was definitely inspired by that, but most of the album’s imagery came from my own mind.”
But Marshall Mathers seems to have an very personal realationship with the whole Columbine Issue. He himself was bullied on a daily basis during his childhood, often for his race and for always being the new kid. When he was nine years old he got beaten up so bad he was in an coma for several days. I think he is one of the people who is trying to understand what Harris and Klebold were going through. But I think it is important to mention, that he is the living proof that even when your life is is shitty right now because of some people who have nothing in their life but to terrorize you, that you can still have a better life. And you beat them best when you keep on living.
“That Columbine shit is so fucking touchy. As much sympathy as we give the Columbine shootings, nobody ever looked at it from the fuckin’ point of view of the kids who were bullied—I mean, they took their own fucking life! And it was because they were pushed so far to the fucking edge that they were fucking so mad. I’ve been that mad.”
-Marshall Mathers
The Triple Rettendon Murders
December 6th, 1995: In the quiet and uneventful village of Rettendon in Essex, England, three well-established criminals/ecstasy drug dealers named Patrick Tate, Craig Rolfe, and Tony Tucker, would be lured down a farm track and brutally murdered in their Range Rover by multiple shotgun blasts. Their faces were so disfigured by the blasts they could only be identified by their fingerprints.
The three men were discovered by a farmer and his friend on the morning of December 7th. It’s been alleged that they were lured to the farm track under the pretense of a lucrative drug deal. Ironically, the murders occurred four miles away from a town where another ecstasy-related incident took place.
On November 11th, 1995, an 18-year-old schoolgirl by the name of Leah Sarah Betts had taken an ecstasy pill and then consumed approximately 7 liters of water in a 90-minute time span. A few hours later, she fell into a coma, from which she, unfortunately, did not recover from. Many speculate the murders occurred solely due to this reason.
Criminal Convictions
The perpetrators of the murders, Jack Whomes and Michael Steele, were convicted largely due to a key witness/police informant named Darren Nicholls, who provided evidence against them during the trial. Nicholls was involved in the British underworld and had been arrested for several drug offenses in the past. His claim was that he had driven Steele and Whomes to and from the scene of the murder. Nicholls was given credibility for his testimony and served zero prison time for his role in the crime.

Life it seems to fade away
Drifting further everyday
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me but now, he's gone
No one but me can save myself, but its too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
Goodbye..
