Being a confused child about sexual orientation and gender identity, you can be confused on who to look up to. Being closeted can also be a struggle as you have nobody to share too, you have yourself and yourself only.
Gay culture in the Philippines has some strict standards on how you have to be. If youāre feminine, you have to be pretty, if not you have to be funny. If youāre masculine, you have to be hot, and if youāre not, youāll be left in the dirt with no hope. Growing up feminine and noy exactly attractive was very damaging. Being a ground to earth person meant I donāt fit into those stereotypes. I had to put on a faƧade that I was always happy and funny.
And thatās when the art of writing comes in. It was my escape, a made-up fantasy so I could see myself through the eyes of an idealistic reality I wanted to live.
Writing is not my passion, but as time went on, I got more interested in it. When I was in elementary school, I attempted to write a short narrative, which was difficult for me because it was my first time writing. I used to like writing about what was in my head at the moment. When I was in primary school, I wrote a lot of short tales, which pushed me to attempt to create additional stories. When I was in fifth grade, I attempted to create songs, but I found it difficult to continue since I had lost the desire to express what was in my thoughts at the time. When I reached high school, I began to lose the motivation to write since it took me a long time to quit writing with my imagination. When I was in seventh school, I attempted to compose a love story. It was nice when I first started, but as it took a long, I gave up and lost the will to continue writing that novel, and I was disappointed in myself at that point. I'm in eighth grade, and practically all of my classmates are skilled at writing tales. I'm jealous of them since I know I don't have a similar talent to them. I enjoy reading stories, so I wondered why I hadn't written again, but this time it's about me and my future. Time passed, and these experiences taught me not to be afraid to attempt anything new that can teach me a lesson one day.
It started with a spare notebook. Does it not always? I was a 6th grader, and I loved zombies. I loved school. I thought to myself, āWhy not combine both?ā So there I was, scribbling in my Hello Kitty notebook about a zombie outbreak. The plot was about how students would cope in a school setting. I was not creative, the characters were my classmates. I wrote their suffering, I wrote their grief. I killed my classmates. I do not recommend killing your classmates, but I do recommend writing about your zombie fantasies. My story was so good, my classmates read them! They were not so flattered reading about their detailed deaths. Definitely, it was original. The plot has neve been done before. I was the first one. I was optimistic, until I realized I was not so original after all. Thanks, āAll of Us Are Dead!ā
The following year, I would start junior high school. I wanted a new start. I moved to Japan. I abandoned my zombie story. I started writing other stories such as romance and slice of life. They were one page stories. With this, I also practiced my handwriting. If you think it is still bad now, think about how worse it was back in 2017. Even I cannot read it anymore. Literal chicken scratch. It helped with my creativity, not so sure with my style in general. I was struggling!
Year 2018, I published interactive stories on Twitter. I thought many would want to read and see. That was not the case! My stories were poorly written, with many inconsistencies and plot holes. Here, I realized my stories were less than entertaining. It felt like a chore to read. It was wordy, it was horrible. I lost motivation and just decided to start a journal. I have always loved the feeling of the pen gliding across the paper. I would always feel at ease. This went on until 2019. There was even a time when I made my own journal. Yes, I compiled, sowed, and wrote in my own journal. I loved writing in it so much, I finished it in two months.Ā
Then the pandemic hit. I used this time to actually think about what I want to do. I loved writing, but the type of writing I did was not for me. Over the years, I realized that fiction was not for me. I realized that I preferred pen and paper rather than a keyboard. I realized that I loved writing letters for the people I care about, I realized that journaling was the type of writing for me. I realized that I cannot write straight without a guide. Wow, that was a lot of realizing!Ā
Now, I only keep a notebook to write my thoughts in, I do not use it daily. I invite others to write their day instead. It is also nice to know what my friends think of me. I use writing to keep memories. It is not perfect, nor does it have to be, It will be just for my eyes only, like a little time capsule, Wherever I go, however old I get, I know that I can always go back and reread that time I tripped in street full of people back in September 15, 2018. Embarrassing, I know, But that is the charm in my journals. And I will continue to embarrass myself, all because I started writing about zombies.
This is a carefully kept secret, but every night before I go to bed, I make-up scenarios in my mind.
To begin, apart from academic or meaning materials, I recall the first book Iāve ever read. It was the hit, āthe Diary of a Wimpy Kid,ā I recollect being so engrossed in it, finishing in one setting.Ā
When I read, I make extensive use of my imagination. I always envision what I read. It makes the whole thing even more enjoyable. But, as I reflect on my childhood, Iāve come to realize Iāve always been imaginative. Fascinated by those around me, my surroundings, and why I think and act the way I do.Ā
I used to compose lyrics, narratives or storylines on an Orion Intermediate Pad. Itās incredible how I remember this detail, atleast to me. It consisted of my crush, kind and so charming, He was my seatmate, using different names to whatever I was writing. Heād read it at times, unaware it was about him. I donāt think he knew I had a crush on him at the time, and I hope he never finds out. Young me was so corny.Ā
Years passed, and fan fiction was my first exposure to writing online; actually taking the time to time and compose. I believe it took place in 2014? I used to read Wattpad, listen to kpop and one direction was it not a sure bet?
It was posted on my twitter stan account. I can't seem to recall particular elements and themes. The sure thing there was that it was a lot of grammatical mistakes and a lot of cringing.Ā
Man, it was truly an era.Ā
To be honest, I donāt write now as a hobby. What I do is think of scenarios, appropriate lines for it, visual settings and now I picture my characters. Iād jot them down on random papers.Ā
My subsequent writing experiences were prompted by requirements or performance tasks in junior high school. Fast forward to grade 11, upon transferring to Holy Angel, when there was a groupwork involving creation of scripts, Iād generally volunteer because it was something I felt more comfortable doing than speaking or editing. I was in conflict. I believe I felt mediocre since I could not fully show my creativity because of the restrictions and significance of sticking within the designated topic.Ā
āPreserve your memories, keep them well.ā
āWhat you forget, you can never retell.ā
Journaling has been the most meaningful thing I;ve begun this year. It caused me to reflect on my day, what Iāve learned, who Iāve spoken with, and what Iāve done. It prompted self-realization and reflections I had not thought about before.
To conclude, it also had a fundamental impact on my writing. It excited me to think Iād be capable of looking back upon my sentiment and thoughts. I look forward to use how my life changes month by month, year by year as I grow older.Ā
Things I have no control over will continue to happen. The key would be affirmation, and the reality that itās all about perspective when it comes to life.
I constantly tell myself that regardless of what happens and no matter what othe people think and say,

I was not the most creative when it comes to writing when I was a kid, Growing up physical activities was my forte. I did not enjoy writing until one day, in my junior high days, there was an essay contest. I did not really had much of a choice but I thought that maybe I should try to exert some effort in this. Long story short, I won the contest and got my essay to be laminated as an award. That was the moment that I had discovered that i can think creatively in writing,
I used this as an advantage and then what happened is, I grew up to love writing my thoughts, though I'm not much of a writer these days, the fact that, that small event helped me propelled myself to where I am today and where I will be in my near future.Ā
There are a lot of different ways on how I can start this craft essay. I can use the āReader first, writer afterā or the iconic āAt 13, I discovered how writing could perform its magic,ā I can even use the āWriting gives me the privilege to create my own world.ā There are a lot of options, but there words are buried in the back of my mind. āCause as I wrote this essay, the only thing I could think of is āyou would submit another boring essay because you are losing your words, or better yet, you are not that good of a writer, you are just a kid that got praise a lot.ā
It is a comedy that I am supposed to tell a story about how I became a creative writer when Iāve been doubting myself for a year now, comparing myself to other kidsā words, hating my previous works. How am I supposed to call myself a writer when not so long ago, I forgot the word āinsecure.āAnd looking back, that memory is a shit show, ācause how can a person disregard the only word that can describe her current status.
As I overthink about my capability of being a writer, one famous character keeps knocking into my head and Iām telling you, I am seriously ignoring her, the Rory Gilmore from the show Gilmore Girls. Yes, I am comparing myself to Rory. And before any of you laugh at me, let me finish first (you finish reading first to be exact). Iām talking about the Yale Rory, The Year In A Life Rory. The one where she faced her downfall, as the viewers would call it.
After 3 paragraphs, I would finally tell my journey as a creative writer, by using Rory GIlmore as a reference.
Rory started off as a kid who keeps her nose inside her books. Would automatically shut down as she turned her page. Being a journalist is her dream, and going to Harvard is her lifetime wish. Her dreams are high and impossible a person outside her town would say. But Rory never experienced or faced doubtness, everyone in Star Hollows put her in a pedestrial, even the grandparents who lived in different postal codes. She has it all, brain, confidence, tallent, support system, and even beauty. However, nothing is constant, no one could be at the top for so long. Rory declined Harvard and went to Yale. And everyone who watched the show would express their feelings in this storyline in different cuss words, they could even invent one.
Someone doubted Roryās ability to be a journalist. One sentence ruined her entire life, her belief system. Suddenly, she is staring outside, ignoring her midterm exams, dropping out of school, and moving into her grandparentās pool house. She finally realizes how average her capability is, how she achieved to be the top of her class because she lives in a small town. Her works arenāt admiring, her face is. She is not gifted, she is just a kid who received a lot of praise.
She is the same as the writer. Her words arenāt moving, her previous teacher simply does not have lots of options. Her stories are not mind blowing, they are just surprised she can write a book. They just admire her, but not her words. She is not gifted, she is just a kid who received a lot of praise.
So tell me. How can I narrate my journey as a creative writer, when I am not even sure I must call myself a writer.Ā
To all the Rory Gilmore out there. Hope you are experiencing Rising Action. Because the rest of us badly need help being stuck in Conflict for a concernable amount of time.Ā
The path towards creative writing is not great, but a complex one. One must have a wide vocabulary and a deep, vast imagination to masterfully express his thoughts and to produce majestic pieces. I have strived to achieve those capabilities. My strong will to reach those enabled me to write good, acceptable works. My confidence in writing soared. Had I not become courageous enough to pursue this, I will not be a captivated by the majestic world of writing. My journey to be a creative writer is valuable to me, since I will not be able to show my appreciation to this warm hearted world without it. My experiences are important, for writing has also helped to clear my cloudy perception of everything.
How would I describe my writing journey? To make things easier, let's split it up through the stages of life.
Stage 1: Infancy
From when I was born up until I was learning to walk I had many people come into my life, each
carrying me with a different story to tell. Many tales were told, ranging from those who are heroic and bold, stories and lessons which shape me like a mold.
Stage 2: Childhood
This was when I got to explore my artistic side, coloring the walls, following the lines as guides. Learning to walk, talk, and write, this was just the start of a long ride. I've become active and social, trying my best to tell my own tales. Trying to write down my journal, becoming fond of telltales. I've grown detached of writing because of the way my handwriting looks, its apparent that still hasn't changed..
Stage 3: Adolescence
Here we are, on my way to adulthood. Going through issues and tissues seeing if I could get a clue. How do I express feelings which those I can't even tell no one? Whom do I go to in my times of need? My parents aren't there, my friends are also growing, I just feel so alone. This was when my love for writing came back, I journaled my thoughts into a tiny book, one I can keep where no one can look. On my spare time I would watch videos of spoken poetry, the tone in their voice, the feelings in their eyes, it gets me all giddy. From there, I would write poems with my friends, on the floor with only our papers and pens. Reading them to one another, these memories are those which will last forever. My love for writing only grew from there, from poems to short stories, the amount of serotonin writing gives me, nothing can compare. I am still learning and on the process of going through adulthood, many more lessons to experience, I bet I'll always look back to my childhood.
Stage 4: Adulthood
I can't wait to see what's in store for me in the future. May it be happy or sad, I can always cope
with humor. I look forward to where life may take me, the next time I continue this I hope I'm still free as a bee with tons of honey, making money for my soon to be family.
Writing is a form where people communicate and share ideas using symbols or letters. Itās already part of our human nature because its essential & relevant in our lives. Since the day weāve been born, We all have the ability to write and also to read because writing help each other to understand the context that we wanna address to the people. But, now did we develop writing? What are the steps that my younger self take in order to achieve writing? Skills today. Did writing help me to get in shape for the skills that I have? We can now take a look back at the path Iāve fulfilled in writing.Ā
Writing is an important aspect in life. Without writing we couldn't also be able to understand peopleās different stories and perspectives. Up until now, I practiced and enjoyed writing about my novels and reality. Writing isnāt only about symbols and letters, you can always involved writing down your reality, emotions, fiction stories, the things that you wanna write about either for the nation, nature or people. Itās a free method to express our thoughts and perspective to each other that may help one another in maturing our minds.Ā

Writing was fun because it uses my imagination to write something about my experiences, express my feelings, to write a letter, to compare some lyrics and sonnet. Writing also helps me to communicate with other people. One time, in our class while the teacher is discussing, I was to tell to my best friend, so to avoid necessary noise I use to write it down in the piece of my paper, until my teacher notides it and then she was so angry, to the point that she read our conversation to the whole class, that was embarrassing but the most memorable day in my life, because that experienced made me realized that writing a letter was fun, not until you teacher caught you because it may cause you a trouble.
When I was 9 years old, way back in 2013, I have a lot of experiences and I use to write it down on my diary, but first what is diary? Since I was a child, I donāt have an idea what is diary. Until my friend and classmates introduce me what is diary. It is a book in which keeps a daily record of events and experiences of your life. Not just diary but also a slam book, in our era slambook was very popular where you and your friends exchange to answer all the following questions about yourself. So basically I was so interested and got jealous because all of them are having this kind of notebooks, so I decided to buy atleast 2 notebooks for them to answer my slambook to get to know them more. And lastly everytime I got home, I have this habit that, I will finish first all my assignments and all staff I need to prioritize first, and the last part which is my favorite favorite routine is getting my diary notebook, and also U forgot, once or twice I think, I brought my diary at my school and if Iām lazy to do our activities and waiting for our lunch break Iām writing all my thoughts to that notebook, that is why my teacher gave me a detention slip, because I havenāt finish my goals for almost 3 days because of writing all over to my diary, so going back to my routine every night, that was my favorite part where I can say what happen to me in that entire day. Iām enjoying narrating my day because everyday for me was a memorable even if its worse or not, Iām always writing those to my diary. Until one day my diary went missing and I couldnāt find anymore, i was 5ht/4th grade I think when it started to get lost As time goes by. I got older and for me my life gets messy for I have personal problems and issues about myself. So, I use to write love songs, or if Iām boring I use to write something, like what word comes to my mind and start gathering them to create some lyrics, since I was a music lover and playing instruments so I enjoyed composing a song, and also in our subjects in grade 7 & 8. Iām enjoying writing of my own lyrics. I was glad that my composed songs are become popular to my fellow classmates and teachers because the rhythm and the beat are good.
Setting: At the park in the village where Fairy and Dweine reside. Morning. The sky is clear as the seas, and the sun on the left background brightly shines. An old, tall, large treeĀ
stands to the right of the stage. A swing and slide is placed to the left of the stage. On the horizon, the green meadow can be seen. Birds can be seen flying across the sky.Ā
Fairy, an eight-year old. is seated at the swing, crying. A few moments later, Dwaine, another kid the same age as her, comes and approaches Fairy.Ā
(Fairy, an eight year old little girl, is crying at the swing)Ā
DweineĀ
(Dweine, a little boy who is the same age as Fairy is slowly walking towards the little girl who is visibly crying) Fairy right? Can I sit beside you? Why are you crying? Are you hurt? Did the monsters hurt you? Do you see a ghost? Tell me! Tell me! (Dweineās voice is friendly. He flashes his warm smile to the young lady whoās been crying for a minute in front of her as a sign of comforting her.)Ā
(Fairy just glanced at the little boy beside her. She move a huge distance away from the child of her parentās enemy)Ā
FairyĀ
Go away! Youāre so noisy! I donāt like you! Youāre just going to say meaningful things to me just like what your parents did to my parents! I donāt like you! Leave me alone! (Despite the fact that Fairy is already terrified of Dweine, she gathers the will to yell in his face.)Ā
(Dweine laughs while seeing the little girlās reaction towards his friendly approach. She seems even more damaged because of her sobbing, in addition, her arms are bruised.)Ā
(Despite the little girl being visibly afraid towards Dweine, he gives Fairy his handkerchief and wipes the little girl's tears, and gently pat her head)Ā
Dweine
If I would treat you to ice cream, would you consider me as your friend, not your enemy? I wanna be your friend! I wanna wipe your tears or even keep you away from all those pain that you feel! We are too young to be broken! (Dweine said in his calmest tone and even hugged Fairy lightly. Fairy just nodded)Ā
SEQUENCE 2Ā
(An ice cream vendor passes by the park. Dweine immediately ran towards the ice cream vendor the moment Fairy nodded and accepted his offer. He cannot stop grinning as he carries the ice cream in both of his hands. He truly wants Fairy to be his friend. After buying some ice cream, Dwaine goes to Fairy, who is sitting on the grass.)Ā
DweineĀ
Here! Hereās your ice cream! (Slowly catching his breath)Ā
FairyĀ
Thank you! Ohhh can I please have the strawberry one? I really love strawberry (In her most soothing voice)Ā
(Dweine just sat down beside her again while opening the sachet pack of an ice cream)Ā
DweineĀ
I didnāt know what kind of ice cream flavor you like so I went with strawberry and vanilla. But oh! We have some similarities ācause I like strawberry flavors too! ( He smile again while giving the strawberry flavor ice cream and some tissues to Fairy)Ā
(Dweine and Fairy started talking about their likes and dislikes to get to know each other more)Ā
FairyĀ
Wow, do you truly enjoy those, too? I used to think it was strange that I enjoyed them, but I'm pleased someone else does!(She smile and initiate a high five)Ā
(Dweine held his hand high to receive Fairyās high five)Ā
DweineĀ
So are we officially like uhm friends and not enemies? (he says happily as if begging)Ā
(Fairy nodded to answer Dweineās question)Ā
Dweine
Yey I have a friend! I have a friend! (he laughed with a great joy knowing that he had an extraordinary friend)Ā
(Dweine stood up from excitement and started jumping around. Fairy also stood up and held Dweineās hand while they are encircling in excitement)Ā
Fairy and DweineĀ
Yes, we are friends! We are friends! (They are both smiling from ear-to-ear)Ā
DweineĀ
(Dweineās smile is slowly fading away when he realizes something) Ohā¦uhmā¦How about our parents? They are both rivals. Iām scared they might hurt or make you cry again! (He held Fairyās cheeks with one hand and softly squish it)Ā
FairyĀ
Then letās be secret friends! (She giggles and raises her pink finger as a sign of promise) Secret friends? (She is smirking by her brilliant idea, and waiting patiently for Dweineās action)Ā
DweineĀ
(He raised his pinky finger as a sign of accepting Fairyās offer) Secret friends!!!Ā
SEQUENCE 3Ā
In the classroom of a high school. First day of school. Morning. On the left and right parts of the background, there is a door leading to the corridor. Between those doors are windows that show the corridor. Above the windows is a clock that shows it is 7:00 a.m. There are students walking outside the corridor, sometimes talking to their peers.Ā
On the left side of the stage, there is a blackboard, and a teacher's table. There are several chalks on the table, with a blackboard eraser next to them. At the front of the table, there are some new brown school chairs. On the right side of the stage are empty shelves.Ā
The classroom is refurbished. The morning sun illuminates the room, turning the wall paint of old rose livelier and brighter. An alarm rang across the school, causing the students to rush to their classrooms. As they hurry into their rooms, Fairy and Dwaine appear, teasing each other. Some of their classmates enter along with them.Ā
Fairy
Youāre so slow! I won again! Aha! You better treat me for our break later! (She wrapped her arms around Dweineās shoulder while playfully patting his head)Ā
DweineĀ
(He annoyedly detached Fairyās arms around him) You wish! How can I run so fast if you made me carry all of these things?! (Pertaining to fairyās carrier) Youāre such a loser and a cheater! (he was annoyed while shouting loudly)Ā
(Dweine and Fairy both keep on annoying each other until they reach their classroom)Ā
FairyĀ
I would definitely get a perfect score compared to you, so as a sign of victory, I will squish you in a friendly but hard way. So start hoping that you would get a score similar to mine (She was grinning wildly)Ā
DweineĀ
Can you please stop talking nonsense? You sounded like a bee. So just sit down and please, humble yourself (He said in his most bored voice and flashes a sarcastic smile at the same time)Ā
TeacherĀ
Please arrange yourselves now. I would like to introduce your new classmate Anissa Meriaza! Gave her a warm welcome and we would begin our lesson (Tons of students are waving towards the new girl) Please sit beside Fairy Nadania, thank you (She motion Fairyās chair)Ā
(Anissa, the new girl, is dressed in black slacks and white t-shirt. She quietly walk towards the chair beside Fairy, who is wearing a bright and friendly smile)Ā
AnissaĀ
Hiā¦(She shyly said)Ā
FairyĀ
Omg hi! Welcome, welcome! I hope we can be friends. I am Fairy, (She looked at Dweineās direction) and this guy beside me is Dweine. We have been friends for a very long time, and we are hoping to be your friend too! If you have some questions you can ask us! We can help you and such! Weāre so glad to have you here! (Her voice is energetic and fast)Ā
Dweine
(He is wearing his small smile and his second hand embarrassment towards Fairyās energy is visible to his face) Hello, uhm sorry. She overreacts on almost everything, but we are pleased to meet you.Ā
(Dweine teases Fairy and Fairy punches him in his arms.Ā
(Dweine playfully punch Fairyās arm to get her attention since she is busy examining Anissaās appearance)Ā
AnissaĀ
Oh! I appreciate your invitation. I truly appreciate it, so maybe I can accompany you over recess?(she timidly said and even scratch the back of her head)Ā
(Fairy was delighted by Anissaās offer and started talking to her nonstop from that day on.)Ā
SCENE 2Ā
SEQUENCE 4Ā
(In the new classroom of the same school. Morning. Same layout of the classroom seen in Sequence 3. Yet, there are few signs of the room's degradation since its refurbishment a few years prior. The wall's old rose paint has faded, and a couple of furniture has shown signs of wear. The sunlight is dimmed by some clouds passing through. The corridors are silent, due to the classes still going on. Here, most of the class attentively listen to their teacher's instructions being written at the blackboard. Fairy, Dweine, and Anissa, are listening attentively to the discussion)Ā
TeacherĀ
(She asked her students clearly) Any more questions? If not, I would like to discuss this week's activity. Form a group with three members for a group activity that will be submitted next meeting. Good day and Godbless you all! (She dismissed the class with a joyful face and greeting to them)Ā
(Anissa, Dweine, and Fairy are looking at each other and telepathically confirming their group. The class ended with the three of them still brainstorming for their group project.)Ā
FairyĀ
Ahmā¦which house can we go to for our group project? (while brushing her hair, her mood went down and starts to give pretending face and confusing mind acting up while )
(Anissa is looking straight into Dweine, indicating that his house should be the meeting place)Ā
DweineĀ
(He squint his eyes while looking at Fairy)Ā
I donāt think my place is a great idea. My parents would repeatedly call me asking multiple questions or asking for help about their social media passport, and that would create a distractionĀ
(Fairy looks into Dweine and back to Anissa, she is sending a message about their complicated situation and how Anissa would fix it.)Ā
Fairy and DweineĀ
Anissa! Are you in? (They synchronously said)Ā
(Anissa just confusedly look towards Fairy and Dweine)Ā
FairyĀ
Can we please start our project at your place? We canāt concentrate in my place and Dweineās place, they just keep throwing us multiple chores (Her voice was soft and she is batting her eyelashesĀ
AnissaĀ
Are both of you sure about this? Because if yes, I would gladly accept it since it seems that my parents are second guessing if I have friends that are not from a book or a movie (She jokingly said). I think they are afraid of me being emo.Ā
Fairy and Dweine:Ā
Yes! Thank you so much Anissa!(shouted happily with a big smile on there faces)Ā
(The three of them are lazily cleaning up their things when Anissa asks something.Ā
AnissaĀ
Are both of your parents also close? Like, are they childhood friends like the both of you? (staring at them while giving a confusing face)Ā
(Fairy & Dweine canāt answer the question and are uncomfortable answering it so they decided not to talk)
SCENE 3Ā
SEQUENCE 6Ā
Setting: They are still at Anissaās home when they get questioned by Anissa. After their group task they both decided to get home. Fairy sneaked into Dweineās room to eat and to have another chit chat together but they almost got caught off. Fairy jumped and got bruises on her way home from the pharmacy store. She bumps into Anissa and Anissa helps her to cover her woods at their (tambayan) villageās park. 3:00pm. (September 15,2011)Ā
(Fairy climbed into Dweineās window so the two friends could hang out after finishing their project at Anissaās place. However, Fairy was bruised because she fell down into the ground while climbing towards Dweineās room)Ā
SEQUENCE 7Ā
(At the village park. Afternoon. It is quiet. Same setting seen in Sequence 1. The sun shines in its last glory before the darkness cloaks the world. Fairy and Dweine sit on the swings. Dwaine is applying bandages to Fairy' wounds. Later, Anissa arrives. Anissa notices Fairyās injury and Dweineās worried face but she decides not to ask them ācause it seems that the cause of Anissaās injury is a sensitive topic between the two.)Ā
AnissaĀ
Some of the bruises are still fresh, you know. Whatever you two are doing should stop before any of you become seriously injured. Iām glad I went to the pharmacy, because if not, these bruises would not get clean and fix at all (she is very worried and felt pity to Fairyās injury)Ā
(Anissa regretted commenting about Fairyās injuries since the atmosphere became more awkward, if it is even possible)Ā
(Fairy held Anissaās hand and move er chin so they can look at each other equally)Ā
FairyĀ
Listen Anissa, whatever you would hear today must not get out outside of this circle (She is pointing herself, Anissa, and Dweine repeatedly) or we would not see each other again
(The moment Anissa nodded, is the moment Fairy and Dweine tell her the story about the childish rivalry between their parents and how none of them has any idea about the friendship that is going on between their children)Ā
SCENE 4Ā
SEQUENCE 8Ā
Settings: Anissaās House at her room around 3:00 pm on a Saturday. September 19,2011.Ā
AnissaĀ
Waitā¦waitā¦wait. So you're telling me, both of you are still naĆÆve when it comes to relationships? (said by a teasing smile)Ā
FairyĀ
You are exaggerating Anissa, just because we still havenāt entered a relationship it doesnāt mean we are clueless about it. (she explained it clearly while looking up straight eye to eye)Ā
(Dweine nod his head as a sign of agreeing to Fairy) AnissaĀ
Yes, but still. Both of you still havenāt experienced what it is like to be in love or be in love. (she said it calmly while looking fairy and gives a smile)Ā
DweineĀ
Does imagining things count? (confusing while thinking a lot)Ā
(Anissa was supposed to tease Dweine but she senses that her friend is serious.)Ā
AnissaĀ
I donāt know Dweine. What kind of romantic things enter your mind? Or better yet, what is your idea of love? (Started to confused)Ā
DweineĀ
Wellā (Fairy cut him off)Ā
Fairy
Ahhhh yes, love. You are kind of an expert in that field, right Dweine? (she asked)Ā
(Dweine is on a verge of defending himself but Fairy is talking fast he cannot intervene)Ā
FairyĀ
Let's see, Devi rejected you in 4th grade. Rory laughed at you when you invited her to be your date at the ball. You got punched by Assiaās boyfriend when you gave her A BOUQUET OF FLOWERS on valentines. And oh oh ohā (Dweine finally cut her off)Ā
DweineĀ
Okay Fairy that is enough. So what if everybody keeps rejecting me? It doesnāt mean love doesnāt exist. It simply meant that I still havenāt found the right one. And if I do, I would give all the romantic things going on inside my head.(he reacted calmly while saying his insights)Ā
FairyĀ
What if when the right one comes, if she or he really exists. You are already tired from all of the rejection and for you, love is just a chemical thing going on inside your head.(she seriously talking while looking her hands)Ā
DweineĀ
I donāt think that is going to happen. Because imagine all the love I am willing to give to the wrong person, what more if I already found the right one. (he felt worry and afraid)Ā
(There is a moment of silence after Dweineās explanation and Anissa could no longer handle the awkwardness.)Ā
AnissaĀ
You know what, if Iām just a background person from a movie, and the two of you are the main character. (Her voice was hesitant) I would think that a secret feeling is going on inside the two of you.(she was annoyed and doesnāt know what to feel)Ā
(Fairy quickly defend herself that cause suspicion) Fairy
What? Us?! Iwwww! Anissa! Dweine is like a brother I have that I wish I never had. (she shouted while giving a silly face)Ā
(Dweine was just laughing because finally, Fairy is no longer teasing him)Ā
AnissaĀ
You canāt blame me Fairy you know, the two of you are always together. You finish each otherās sentences. You probably knew one another more than you know yourself. (she is giving the energy of being jealous with the tone and expression of her voice and face)Ā
FairyĀ
Well, Anissa, you are wrong. We are just friends, we donāt have any secret feelings. The relationship between us is plainly platonic. (She explained again clearly with a serious tone of voice)Ā
(Fairy was so serious saying her explanation that she didnāt release her eye contact with Anissa)Ā
AnissaĀ
Okay then. No secret feelings, plainly platonic. (she said it softly while being serious)Ā
(Anissa was so casual talking to them you wouldnāt notice her sweaty hands and her fast heartbeat.)Ā
(Dweine was just looking at the two, getting suspicious about Anissaās stair at her childhood friend).Ā
Scene 5Ā
Sequence 9Ā
Setting: Fairyās Bedroom. Night. Fairy is alone, sitting at the chair near the window. October 05, 2012.Ā
FairyĀ
(low-spirited, teary-eyed) What a lonely night! Here I am, holes in this dark room, and have done nothing for the past days. Except thinking about him⦠if we could go somewhere⦠on a starry night⦠(suddenly rises) But where is he? He just left the town without telling me! How cruel is he! Dwaine⦠you⦠I do not miss you as a crush, but as a friend, okay!? (short silence) But⦠I
cannot take it anymore. I want to see your smiles, take you in my arms again⦠so⦠go back now!!! I miss you so muchā¦Ā
(She weeps. As she continues crying, a sudden rapid knock on the door is heard.)Ā
FAIRYĀ
(stops crying and fixes herself) Come in!Ā
(Fairyās parents, Koron and Faido, go inside. They are both seething in anger)Ā
KORONĀ
(While extremely angry, she shows Fairy her own cell phone that contains the messages between Fairy and Dwaine.) Tell me, my dear, that these are all lies!Ā
FAIRYĀ
What do you mean? (started to confuse while looking around)Ā
FAIDOĀ
(furious) You are chummy with our rivalsā son! Have not you ever thought about how pathetic your decision is?Ā
FAIRYĀ
(raising her voice) It is not pathetic! You both are pathetic, along with your absurd rivalries!Ā
FAIDOĀ
They have ruined our reputation for so long already, and donāt you tell me that this is going for too long! (shouted very loud because of anger)Ā
FAIRYĀ
It is! And our friendship does not bring harm to all of you! (continuously expressing strong feelings)Ā
FAIDOĀ
Shut up! Your relationship is a danger already, and this must end now! (loud and clearly said)Ā
FAIRYĀ
You two will not meddle here! If you dare, Iāll leave here and rebuke you two! (she is very angry with an evil eye she does)Ā
FAIDOĀ
(raises his hands to slap her) You damnā
KORONĀ
(stops Faido to protect Fairy) Do not hit your daughter, calm down then we will talk to her! (convinced to stop the fight)Ā
FAIRYĀ
Even a sincere talk will do nothing to ourĀ
friendship!(exaggerating while pointing him)Ā
KORONĀ
I beg you, Fairy, be silent, and weāll talk later, but assure us to end your relationship with the bastard Dwaine!Ā
FAIRYĀ
No! No! No! Nevermore!Ā
FAIDOĀ
(He finally overpowers Koron. Afterwards, he comes closer to Fairy and raises his hands to slap her) I have had enough, you damnāĀ
(Anissa quickly rushes to the scene, stops the hand of Faido.)Ā
KORON & FAIRYĀ
(screams)Ā
FAIDOĀ
Who are you? Get out of here, or Iāll break your face!Ā
AnissaĀ
(powerful and threatening) Do it, and Iāll wreck your jaw and crush your balls, old man!Ā
KORONĀ
(to Faido) Calm down, Faido! She is Anissa, Fairyās friend.Ā
FAIDOĀ
You are not invited in this conversation, so piss off from here, you brat!Ā
AnissaĀ
I will stay here and protect Fairy from your stinking hands, you mindless dotard!Ā
KORONĀ
(to Anissa) Stop it! Dear Anissa, apologize to him. (to Faido) Calm down, dumbhead! Letās get out of here and let off some steam. Nothing will result from this arguing. Come on, follow me!
FAIDOĀ
ButĀ
KORONĀ
(along with Anissa, they stare at him) Go out!Ā
(Faido, embarrassed and defeated, mumbles while being forced to go out of the room by his wife.)Ā
KORONĀ
Anissa, please help us in talking about Fairy and that Dwaine. I know you can sort it out since you are her best friend. Thank you.Ā
AnissaĀ
Fine. I also apologize for earlier.Ā
(Koron nods, then goes out of the room, and locks the door. The two girls are left alone. Fairy is still sobbing, then runs to Anissa and falls to her arms.)Ā
FAIRYĀ
Thanks, my savior! I canāt do anything about them. If DwaiāĀ
AnissaĀ
I am here to protect you. While Dwaineās out, Iām in. Now, whatās the issue between you and your parents?Ā
FAIRYĀ
They scolded me because of my friendship with Dwaine! They think that he is my boyfriend!Ā
AnissaĀ
But it is your familyās rivalry with Dwaine's that caused this, right?Ā
FAIRYĀ
Yes! But it should stop. Donāt they understand that? Dwaine is a kind, pleasant man. We cherish each other a lot. With his heavenly looks and personality, it must be the same for his family. Right, Anissa?Ā
AnissaĀ
Yeah, but was Dwaine here able to stand up for you tonight?
FAIRYĀ
No. Heās not here tonight, so how could he?Ā
AnissaĀ
If he is not here tonight, how can he be there for you in the future?Ā
FAIRYĀ
(incensed) He will⦠he will be there for meā¦Ā
AnissaĀ
Well, I hope so. You should not believe in a knight in dazzling armor. A sleeping beauty does not need a prince to awaken her.Ā
FAIRYĀ
Then what should I do?Ā
AnissaĀ
Stand up for yourself. Right now, do not depend on someone like him. He neither bid farewell to you nor told where he is going. When he promises to rescue you, heāll not arrive on time. Once he arrives, you are already mauled by the monsters.Ā
FAIRYĀ
I canāt! The monsters have taken care of me, and I love them. Me and Dwaine will talk to them, and we will peacefully stand up to them! They will be surprised with our courage.Ā
AnissaĀ
Heh, I donāt think so. Someone as feeble as Dwaine will be frowned upon by your parents and will be called sleazy!Ā
FAIRYĀ
(infuriated) How dare you call our friend like that! AnissaĀ
Oh⦠oops! My bad, my bad. But, think twice about him⦠you know⦠since your lovey-dovey thoughts about him may lead you to a cesspit!Ā
FAIRYĀ
Shut up! Thatās why I do not want to talk to you! I would rather take a shower to refresh myself. See you later!Ā
(Fairy goes to the shower room after picking new clothes. Anissa is then left alone.)
AnissaĀ
The first of the poisoned chalices is now gulped! Fooled the parents, planted the seeds of doubt on my lovely, stupid darling. While Dwaine is out, Anissa is in! The fairyās gonna be snitched by the witch! As Fairy drinks the goblets, Dwaine will fade away from her mind, and I will make him fade away from here! (Giggles) Now I feel like a god! Our minds, hearts and bodies are one, but Dwaine will be twain! A world where what I want does not happen is impossible. While my mask does not fall yet, I will claim my only desire: (intoxicated with psychopathic glee) Everything! Everything! Everything!Ā
(As Anissa revels in her thoughts, she is caught off-guard by Fairy.)Ā
FAIRYĀ
Hey? Whatās wrong?Ā
AnissaĀ
None, Iām not going nuts.Ā
FAIRYĀ
Sorry for what happened earlier. Now, join me tonight.Ā
AnissaĀ
As you request, my fair lady.Ā
FAIRYĀ
(giggles) Come on!Ā
(Fairy turns off the light and the two go into the bed.) AnissaĀ
So, what have you thought of my words earlier?Ā
FAIRYĀ
I⦠I think you are right. I shall not be fooled by these swindling men. I will stand alone, and follow my parents!Ā
AnissaĀ
I didn't mean that⦠but for now, do not rely on him too much. Look around youā¦Ā
FAIRYĀ
ā...and ask for help from people like you.ā Since you said it, I will do it. I absolutely trust you, since you came to my aid. Without you, I will be unable to fend for myself.
AnissaĀ
But, you are fighting for Dwaineā recognition so⦠focus on that.Ā
FAIRYĀ
Yeah⦠I canāt just leave him alone quickly. Letās see whatās going to happen in the future, then prove if he is the right one. I still hold him dearly, and I hope he is too for meā¦Ā
AnissaĀ
You are only friends, remember that! Donāt be idealistic. (Fairy is embarrassed by her words.)Ā
FAIRYĀ
Anyways⦠I greatly appreciate your help earlier.Ā
AnissaĀ
No worries. So, good night⦠(gently but tightly embraces her) my beloved Fairy.Ā
FAIRYĀ
(slightly taken aback, but returns her embrace) Same here, my beloved friend Anissa.Ā
(They both fall asleep.)Ā
SCENE 6Ā
SEQUENCE 10Ā
At the school's main entrance. Morning. The sun is shining brightly, almost scorching everything it touches. Students, teachers and other personnel continually pour into the school. Fairy and Anissa are on the corner near the entrance. While they were talking, Dweine arrives, which catches their attention.Ā
FairyĀ
Heās back. No.. no, Dairy you should avoid him. (Fairy said in her mind while avoiding a gaze At dweine)Ā
DweineĀ
(he happily walks and aims for a hug to the fairy but he notices thereās something wrong) Woah, what a warm welcome huh? Did something happen? (He concerned said with them)Ā
AnissaĀ
o-oh dweine! Youāre back uhm glad youāre here! Fairy, can you come with me? I need to pee! (Anissa look at fairy, while wearing her fake smile)
FairyĀ
h-hey dweine (fairy greeted dweine in a cold tone even though sheās clearly nervous) letās be quick Anissa! Before class starts! (She smiled again and immediately pull Anissa out of the room)Ā
(They both went to the restroom and fairy was so nervous she got panicked and teared up)Ā
AnissaĀ
shh, I'm here. I know how much you missed him but remember the night you got scolded okay? (Anissa hugged her to hide her grin)Ā
FairyĀ
(fairy nodded while hugging Anissaās back) okay letās go back to class (fairy warmly said and smiled)Ā
(They both went back to the class, fairy and Anissa still didnāt even bother to look at dweine, for the whole day dweine notice that fairy is avoiding him)Ā
(Dismissal Time)Ā
DweineĀ
Fairy! Anissa! Letās go! I will send you both home and I also missed hanging out with you guys (he smiled sweetly while his hands are at his pockets waiting for them to say yes)Ā
FairyĀ
(she gulped and gathered all her strength not to crack her voice while speaking to him) uh no sorry we have to go somewhere else. Like girls time! Bye! (Fairy said in her nervous tone, after answering dweineās question she immediately pull Anissa and run away from dweine)Ā
(They left dweine dumb founded, dweine notice thereās something wrong, he couldnāt handle fairy avoiding him. He went to the teacherās office to ask one of their close teacher for a favor)Ā
DweineĀ
(he gently knocks and clears his throat) Ms. Penelope? (He gently spoke)Ā
(The teacher immediately open and let dweine in)Ā
Ms PenelopeĀ
yes son? What can I do for you?
DweineĀ
uhm can you call out fairy for tomorrow? I needed to speak with her but she's been avoiding me ever since I came back. From phone calls I thought sheās just busy but even at school sheās avoiding me. So favor Miss penelope? (He explained and nervously look at miss penelope, heās still embarrassed to asked a favor like this)Ā
Ms PenelopeĀ
oh these kids. Okay sure! Even though the both of you are already senior, you still have those little fights with the both of you huh? How adorable, okay sure. Tomorrow will do. (Ms penelope chuckled while agreeing on dweineās favor)Ā
DweineĀ
(He got excited and relieved when he heard that ms. Penelope agreed on his offer) thanks a lot ms. Penelope! I would really participate well in your class next time! Thank you ms. Penelope! Have a great day!Ā
(Dweine waved while heās still delightful about the agreement. ) Sequence 11Ā
Setting: The day after dweineās agreement. At school.3:00pmĀ
(They are already in the class listening to Ms. penelopeās lecture, some of their classmates are still sleepy since itās their last subject)Ā
Ms PenelopeĀ
So that's all hope you learned something for today's class, class dismissed and oh fairy come to my office after I need to talk about something.Ā
(Ms penelope walk out of the room)Ā
FairyĀ
uhm just wait for me outside Anissa will you? (She smiled at her)Ā
AnissaĀ
yeah sure! (Anissa shrugged and hugged fairy)
FairyĀ
(she went to ms Penelopeās office immediately, she. Gently knock and walk in) Yes ms. Penelope is there-Ā
(She got cut off when she saw Dweine stood up from his seat)Ā
Ms PenelopeĀ
it looks like you both need a little chit chat (Ms.penelope giggled and walk out from the room)Ā
DweineĀ
h-hi? Please say something. You know I canāt live a day avoiding me, whatās wrong? Please? Letās hear it? (Dweine desperately asked while he almost kneel down and begged, his eyes says that heās sincerely wanted to know every detail)Ā
FairyĀ
(Fairy heavily sighs.) So itās about my family. They scolded me and said weāre in a relationship. If I wouldnāt avoid you they would do something that I couldnāt imagine! They threaten me! Of course I have to protect you! (Fairy said while her voice are almost cracking up)Ā
DweineĀ
(he quickly hugged fairy and caressed the top of her head to calm fairy down) iām going to be fine okay? Iām going to be alive and safe as long as youāre here with me (he chuckled and even hugged more fairy)Ā
(They talk more about the thing that happened to them while Dweine is still comforting the fairy, but they didnāt notice someone is already glaring at them deadly.)Ā
AnissaĀ
Thatās it! Iām so done with you dweine! Youāre such a fool dweine! Nothing can stop you from taking away my fairy, maybe a poisonous experiment would do (Anissa smirks and walks away because she canāt stand both of them, it's an eyesore for her.)Ā
SCENE 7Ā
Sequence 11Ā
Setting: In the schoolās science laboratory. Afternoon. Complete with scientific tools and equipment, the room is a
little tight and almost dark. It is only lit by the crimson rays of the fading sun, which peeks through the curtains. A false wall is on the right part of the background, near the window and behind the cabinet. The labās door is on the left part of the stage. Anissa is now finishing the preparations for the deed. After a few seconds, she is now done. She manically waits for Dwaine to arrive, like a sadistic hunter waiting for the victim to fall for the trap.Ā
AnissaĀ
(Scribbling something on a piece of paper) And now, done! (Laughs hysterically) To hell with Dwaine! How awful you are, meeting a girl alone in a hidden place? Youāre truly a bastard, arenāt you? The gods have granted my prayers, and now you have fallen for my trap! No one will take Fairy away from me! Cruel act this could be, but itās the only way possible. I will kill Dwaine, then kill a cute lecher approaching Fairy, kill her ever-distrusting parents, then kill all who tries to stop me from having her! And⦠if she rejects me, Iāll kill her too! Iāll have her head, keep it with me forevermore, and sheāll leave me nevermore! Ah! Ah! Iāll embrace her, touch her, and kiss her until Iām fully satisfied. (short pause) He, Iād rather my love become unrequited. It still makes me happier than having her. Anyway, letās do it! Good luck to me, and may Little Brother Death bless me!Ā
(Someone knocks.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
(outside) Anissa? Iām here. Let me in!Ā
AnissaĀ
Oh crap! Here he comes! Now, let us return to our lair. Once you go in, youāll never go out. Be careful, people! Never go alone inside of a girlās lair! (Laughs pathetically)Ā
(Anissa hides the paper inside her belongings. Then, she pushes a cabinet aside. It reveals a false wall. She opens it, then hides inside. Dwaine continues to knock. After Anissa hides, Dwaine enters. )Ā
DWAINEĀ
Hi, Anissa! Where are you? I quickly came here to help with an experiment. Where is it? (goes around) Where are you? Itās already late, and I must go home.Ā
Anissa, where on Earth are you? (spots her belongings) Oh, those are hers. Iāll pick it up, then give it to her.
(As Dwaine picks up Anissaās belongings, a paper falls. He puts the belongings aside, picks up the paper and reads it.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
Hmm.. letās see⦠it says on these disturbingly written paper: āYou, reading ingrate,Ā
As vapors of StyxĀ
Now strangle you, until your lifesbloodĀ
Drench the whole chamber.Ā
Everything you took captive,Ā
Reclaimed now by the witch.Ā
Eternal hell for you, everlasting bliss for us!āĀ
DWAINEĀ
(terrified) What does it mean? A prank on Anissa? Itās damn poetic, so probably something she saw from a novel. Letās go away from here.Ā
(Dwaine goes to the door. He opens it, only to be found locked.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
What?! Damn it, itās locked! No one entered here, except me! Hey, hello! Hello, hello!! Help me open this door! (Loudly and agitatedly knocks and tries to open the door) Hey, help me! Hear me, please! Is there anyone there! Help!!!Ā
(A hissing noise is heard. Toxic gasses spew out from the sprinklers. It has a slightly yellowish tint. As the gas surrounds the room, Dwaine starts to struggle breathing and begins to stumble.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
(Agitated) Poison! Help! Help me! Thereās a poison leak! Listen, listen! Hear me! I will die here! Please, get me out of here!Ā
(Anissa goes out of hiding. She is wearing a gas mask, and is wielding a metal pipe. She stealthily walks behind Dwaine.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
Help me! Free me from here!Ā
AnissaĀ
Iāll help you!Ā
(Anissa strikes Dwaine in the head. Dwaine releases a shocked cry of pain.)
AnissaĀ
Youāre so cruel!Ā
DWAINEĀ
Whatāre you doing, Anissa? (Anissa strikes him again.) Stop this, please!Ā
AnissaĀ
You stole Fairy away from me!Ā
(She strikes him again.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
(shouts a cry of pain, then begins to splatter blood.) Help me, Iām dying! Help me here! Ah!Ā
AnissaĀ
Bastard! Scum! Just die, you rotten pig!Ā
(She continues to strike him. Dwaine wimps in agony. He also weakens and is now vomiting blood.)Ā
DWAINEĀ
Anissaā¦Ā
AnissaĀ
(pauses, then abruptly contemplates about what she is doing) Dwaine, friend, I⦠am sor- No! Die! You backstabbing pest! No one stands in my way!Ā
(Anissa stops striking him with the pipe, then proceeds to strangle him)Ā
Choke in your polluted blood, demon! Choke and rot away!Ā
DWAINEĀ
Help me⦠(heavily gasping for breath)Ā
AnissaĀ
Just.. freaking⦠die!!! Die! Die!!!Ā
(Anissa then strangles him for a few seconds, until Dwaineās eyes slowly shut. Still unconvinced, Anissa bashes his head on the floor a few times. Dwaine finally stops moving.)Ā
AnissaĀ
(stands, hands covered in blood) Now heās dead, and I forgive him!
(Anissa then begins cleaning the whole place. She disassembles the pipe, washes it, then hides it in her belongings. Afterwards, she goes to Dwaineās corpse.)Ā
AnissaĀ
The knightās now claimed by hell! (Revels in victory) Letās dispose of him later. Fairyās gonna be darn happy!Ā
(She drags the corpse towards the secret room. She is stopped by a rapid knocking, and the door opens. It is Fairy, panicking. Anissa is sweating bullets.)Ā
FAIRYĀ
Dwaine, Iām now here. What happened? Why are you lying there? Dwaine? Dwaine!? (recognizes his situation, face suddenly turning deathly pale) Dead! Dead! Heās dead, why, why, did you leave me?! Heartless one!Ā
AnissaĀ
(approaching Fairy) Thank you, you saved us! He just fell asleep, but I almost died here. If werenāt for youāĀ
FAIRYĀ
Oh, think of me, Dwaine! (She is now wailing, weeping and howling.) Wake up, wake up, come back! Dwaine!!!Ā
AnissaĀ
Letās get out of here, o fairy , this place is dangerous!Ā
FAIRYĀ
No, no, no! Leave me alone and let me die with him! I will not live in this miserable world, when my hero, my defender, my only light, perishes! Iāll descend into my grave, and go to Heaven, where weāll meet again! God will forgive me, for He understands us! (Suddenly stops) Oh, I canāt breathe! I canāt breathe!Ā
AnissaĀ
Come on, leave him alone! Look and see me! I am worth more than him!Ā
FAIRYĀ
I shall not suffer myself; no more Iāll weep in my bedroom at night, waiting for you! I shall die, and join you in the Paradise in eternity! (She grabs a nearby poison, then gulps it.) Dwaine, watch, watch and guide your beloved to you!
AnissaĀ
No, donāt die! You will not die!!!Ā
(Fairy goes into a short frenzy, then lets out a miserable scream. She dies, falling into Dwaine. Anissa is left alone, stunned, horrified and crying.)Ā
AnissaĀ
Damn it! Damn it! Listen first, you liar! You have never seen me! You never loved me! If this is what you want, then thatās what you get! You betrayed and abandoned me, traitor! Perverted woman! Join your darling and burn forever! Just remember this, I killed him! Whether you live or not, he is dead! I bashed his brains out and he choked in his own blood! (goes to her, kneels and deeply kisses Fairy to see if sheās alive.)Ā
Wow⦠wait⦠no⦠no⦠I did not⦠I did not kill her. (Anissa screams in utter anguish then dashes out of the room, leaving her belongings and still covered in blood. The door is left open, and the stage curtain falls.)Ā
Scene 8Ā
Sequence 12Ā
(Dwaine is still laying on the floor, but his vibrating shoulder is visible from afar, no one could guess if he is crying or laughing)Ā
DwaineĀ
Fantastic Fairy, fantastic! If medicine doesnāt work out, you can be a phenomenon Hollywood actress! (In his victory voice)Ā
FairyĀ
(She is slowly sitting up while seriously looking at Dwaine) Can you keep your voice down Dwaine? Anissa might still be outside listening.Ā
DwaineĀ
Donāt worry babe, this time, I would fight back (Dwaine is smirking while talking to Fairy)Ā
FairyĀ
This is not a joke, Dwaine. What Anissa did is basically a textbook psychopath act! We are still in high-school, and here she is, planning a murder.
(Dwaine notice Fairyās anxiousness about the event so he get near her and pull her head onto his shoulder)Ā
(Fairy started shaking uncontrollably)Ā
FairyĀ
I still canāt believe she did that. Sheās our friend, we didnāt do anything to cause her any pain. I treated her as a sister, if she just told me what she feels, everything would turn out alright, I would probably reject her and tell her that my feelings towards her are just plainly platonic. But still, no one should resort to murder.Ā
DwaineĀ
Hush nowā¦everything is alright, all of us are still alive. We should be thankful that we trust our guts and our fake-death plan worked.Ā
(Fairy is already calming herself but her shaky voice was noticeable)Ā
FairyĀ
I know Dwaine, but the only thing Iām thinking right now is that no one should resort to this cruel act. We shouldnāt even plan our survival in the first place, we should just be normal teenagers who stress out about academic pressure and not about staying up all night convincing one another that Anissa may or may not be a serial killer who is close to killing one of us.Ā
DwaineĀ
We are safe now, donāt worry. Let's just go to your parents and my parents house. (Dwaine noticed Fairyās shocked expression so he squished her hand as a sign of comfort) Our parents' rivalry would eventually come to an end, and I think today is the right time. If not, both parties must set aside their differences for the sake of their children.Ā
Sequence 13Ā
Setting: The place is now back at the village's playground, wherein Dweine, Fairy, and Anissa used to hangout. A tall and thin man is breathlessly running towards the swing. November 22, 2021.Ā
DweineĀ
I rudely hung up on you on the phone, my apology. Dad finds me and unsurprisingly starts lecturing about a possibly false story
between you and your family. (Dweine leaned in) Did you know? the place of your houses and restaurants are originally from our ancestors but apparently, your grandpa and grandma stole it, and that is the reason why you are unbelievably rich.Ā
(Dweine was shaking his head about their parents childish rivalry, chatting to Fairy about the most random thing he can think of, while Fairy is listening attentively to his friend)Ā
DweineĀ
Heyā¦.why donāt I take you out on a date tomorrow night? I promise you nothing disastrous will happen, I know the owner of this restaurant and he will give us some alone time and very tight privacy that even our parents wouldnāt know.Ā
(Fairy was about to give her answer when another girl touch Dweineās shoulder)Ā
AnissaĀ
Heyā¦.Ā
(Dweine face turn red as he violently remove Anissaās hand over his shoulder, he push her away from Fairy, frighten that she might hurt his beloved)Ā
DweineĀ
This is not a game Anissa, the doctor clearly said you need to stay in the hospital. We are a lot older than before, one wrong move, and you will go straight to jail. STAY. AWAY. FROM. FAIRYĀ
(Anissaās face soften when she heard Fairyās name, however, her attention is only at Dweine, she didnāt cast a glance at her former āfriendā)Ā
AnissaĀ
Dweineā¦calm down, we went over this yesterday. You promise. We talk about this.Ā
DweineĀ
Stop going psycho on me (Dweineās voice was firm)Ā
AnissaĀ
Meds arenāt enough Dweine, you need to help yourself. People are worried.Ā
(Dweine hide Fairy even more from Anissa, he is sure the woman in front of him is crazy)
AnissaĀ
I wouldnāt hurt Fairy, Dweine. Not anymore. (Anissa took a deep breath before looking straight at Dweineās face) If this is your own way of torturing me, I accept it. If me, narrating what happened at the science lab everyday will help you forgive me, I would do it gladly. Yes Dweine, I planned on killing you that day because Iām a selfish brat hoping that Fairy would like me back. My plan succeeded, I killed you, I killed you the moment Fairy died in that accident. You might be standing in front of me, but your soul is buried with her.Ā
(Anissaās eyes were filled with tears, her hands were shaking but she continued talking to help Dweine remember again, just like what she did yesterday, and the day beforeā¦)Ā
AnissaĀ
The childish rivalry between your parents stopped years ago, because now, reputation is out of the picture, they are mad at your family because they believe you are the reason their daughter died. Everyone in this town knows it's my fault, that my jealousy is the one who killed Fairy. But her parents believe otherwise. Your parents are not doing anything about it, because they are more concerned about you. Scheduling you with a therapist is what they did, entering you in a facility is their priority. Your mental health is their priority.Ā
(Dweineās arm is slowly relaxing, his senses are slowly coming back. He wants to hush Anissa, but words failed him)Ā
AnissaĀ
I would never forget that day Dweine. How you break down in front of me, in front of her parents, in front of the town. You, down on your knees, begging Fairyās parents to let you see her one last time, to tell her goodbye, to tell her that she will always be the one. The chemicals did infect the portion of your brain, but they took away your senses the moment they say no.Ā
AnissaĀ
I would forever be buried with the guilt Dweine, the torture of seeing your suffering isnāt enough. My childhood mistake became your forever pain. Iām sorry.Ā
(Dweine looks at Anissa. As the sun shines into him, his suffering is visible physically. His eye is pitch black, he looks more older if being compared to the people with the same age as him.)
DweineĀ
Sorry isnāt enough, Anissa. My favorite person is gone, and I canāt even admire her from afar.
Sandovalās Headquarters, 2018. The Sandovalās are busy training and preparing for one of their upcoming missions, when one of the investigators and their secretary barged in and interrupted the session.Ā
(GREY, the secretary of Mr. Sandoval and the head of the familyās deputy.)Ā
GREY:Ā
(Abruptly opens the door) MR. SANDOVAL!!! I have news, Sir. One of the investigators from our team is here to report about the findings on your missing personels.Ā
(Mr. Sandoval, the owner and the boss of the business.)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Let them in, you guys can have a break. (He spoke to the trainees and signaled them to leave)Ā
GREY:Ā
Sir, your hunches were on the spot. One of the investigators found a crucial clue that led to the culprits of the disappearances of your men. All these clues were tampered with very well, which tells us
that the company working on these are skilled and experts in this field.Ā
(MADDIE, a volunteer investigator from the interns and the younger sister of Grey)Ā
MADDIE:Ā
Greetings, Sir. (Bows to Mr. Sandoval) Sir, we investigators are able to find out that the culprits for the disappearance of your men are Nishimuraās Assassins. Specifically they worked according to Mr. Nishimuraās commands.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
(Pauses from writing, looks at Grey then at Maddie, before returning his gaze on the paper)⦠I see. Well, it seems like our first phase is complete. Shall we proceed to the next one? (Smiles slightly at them)Ā
SCENE 2Ā
Sequence 2Ā
Mr. Sandovalās main office, 9:45 AM. He was visited by her unica hija to ask a rather repetitive questions, which shows her interest and also nervousness as the heiress of the familyās businessĀ
(Jane Sandoval, the only daughter of Mr. Sandoval and the heiress of their family business)Ā
JANE:Ā
Pa, can I ask you something? If you wouldnāt mind retelling me about our family business, please explain to me everything again. From the start, okay?
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Hmmmā¦and what do I get from that? (He speaks but not lifts his eyes to even look at his daughter, except he was smiling.)Ā
JANE:Ā
(Rolls her eyes and slightly chuckles) I thought you said you will always comply with my requests? Whatās this interrogation?Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Alright, alright. (Sighs) It all started when Mr. Nishimura and I met at an event of one of our friends. (Pours wine on his glass and sits back at his desk) Both of us were plus ones. If I remember clearly, my invitation was from your uncle who was the branch owner of Nishimuraās restaurant. We both came across each other at the bar, ordered the same drink, talked business and agreed to merge our ideas and principles. That is where it started, well, at least it's where it also ends. (Pauses to drink then seemed lost in his inner thoughts)Ā
JANE:Ā
So, if I am the heiress, then that means one of his children will be the heir and we both will continue this joint force? (Confused, she tilts her head on the side as her eyes sparked with curiosity)Ā
(Mr. Nishimura, an entrepreneur that holds 25% of the countryās shares and sponsors different programs and events.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
I am afraid that is the case, but I think your side will be easily decided. In our case, I still need time to convince my heir, but it seems like he is still not worthy of anything at all. (He clicks his
tongue, irritatedly. He turns his gaze towards Mr. Sandoval) hey, partner. Long time no see, or more like long time no visit in either companies. (He laughs while patting his partnerās shoulder in a friendly way)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Was it? It felt like I was there yesterday? (Looks at his daughter) Darling, can you please leave us two for a while?Ā
(Jane left, leaving the two business partners alone. The atmosphere shifted by then, making it a heavy and serious one.)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Whatās the matter, Rio? Judging from that look in your eyes, a problem is on its wayā¦Does this problem involve us, or you will involve us like always?Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
I am not a cruel person, Barth, but my son is. He is a ruthless, unappreciative, sonā¦no. I wonāt consider someone like that as a āsonā.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Well, I am afraid that this is your own problem. I wonāt be able to meddle in it, not to brag, but at least my daughter is very open to having our family business and seems very interested in making it progress. (Smiles proudly) I might suggest that if someone is a hindrance, then get rid of them. Right? (He laughs at his joke)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(A pretentious grin flashes on Rioās face, as dark and cruel thoughts cloud his mind) You know what? You are correct. (Stood up and heads towards the door, stops by the desk near it and grabs a picture
frame) If it hinders, then discard them. (He smirks and put back the picture frame with Janeās picture facing down)Ā
SCENE 3Ā
Sequence 3Ā
At home, heading to a club. Girlās Night out. Jane seems perplexed, as she asks one of her besties to accompany her to relax for a moment.Ā
(After Jane left the room, she heaved a sigh of relief. She felt something weird when she remembers how the atmosphere lifted when Mr. Nishimura arrived. Jane was so curious about her being an heiress andĀ
the connection between her family and Nishimura. Suddenly, Janeās phone rang and it was her best friend, Akira.)Ā
JANE:Ā
(Sigh before answering Akira) Shopping?Ā
(Akira, the best friend of Jane, her closest friend who knows everything about her)Ā
AKIRA:Ā
(Laughs) or Girl's Night Out?Ā
JANE:Ā
You really know me, huh? Iāll pick you up at 8 pm babe, see you!Ā
(Jane decided to just go home and get ready for their night out later. She is wearing a sleek black dress with a white butterfly pin on it and white high heels. After getting ready she picks up Akira.)Ā
AKIRA: Goddess! Youāre so beautiful! Wait, whatās that energy? We are here to remove the bad energy girl!
JANE: Okay okay, but I canāt still stop thinking about my position in the family. You know, being an heiress is not easy. I have big responsibilities in our business and yet, Papa doesnāt let me work. Iām an adult Akira, not his baby girl anymore.Ā
AKIRA: I think uncle has some reasons and you just need to wait for the perfect timing, Jane. Iāve known you for 10 years and I trust you for being the heiress of your family. So, sit back and relax! I promise that weāll have fun tonight!Ā
(Finally, they arrived at the club. The music is really loud and you can hear people having fun and shouting. As they entered the place, Akira was so excited and pulled Jane inside. Jane smiled and let the music feel her body. They got some drinks and decided to go on the stage to dance. While Jane is having fun she notices that Akira was missing. She panicked and searched for Akira. When she saw her best friend with a random guy on the second floor, she ran and scaredly pulled Akira off to that random guy. When the guy started to talk.)Ā
JANE:Ā
(Slaps the guy on the cheek) Hey! you pervert, what are you doing to my friend? Iāll report you to the police!Ā
(The guy smirked and stared at Jane with his cold eyes.) AKIRA: Stop! He saved me from those guys. (Knocks out)Ā
(Jane didnāt care and tried to carry Akira. But because of the alcohol, Akira was tipsy and she shouted.)Ā
AKIRA:Ā
(She removed Janeās hands and slowly approached the guy who helped her) Hey, Jane, isnāt this guy your type? Tall, handsome, and especially those eyes! (Then Akira laugh)
JANE:Ā
(Embarrassed, she never spared another glance at the guy) Stop it Akira, letās go! (Jane grabbed akira and left the place)Ā
3RD POVĀ
(The guy didnāt move and checked if those two girls left safely. As he stepped forward he stepped on something, a white butterfly pin. He checked it and remembered it was from the girl who slaps him. He smirks and runs to the exit to see the girl again. But it was too late.)Ā
-2 weeks laterĀ
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Jane, get ready at 8. Youāll come with me.Ā
JANE:Ā
Hm? Where?Ā
(She asks her father while giving him a kiss on the cheek)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Business meeting with Mr. Nishimura.Ā
JANE:Ā
Sure pa, I love you.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Anything for you, sweetie.
(Jane was excited but also nervous because this will be the first time to officially meet Mr. Nishimura so she took the opportunity to prove herself not only to her family but also to Mr. Nishimura.)Ā
(They arrive at the restaurant and as they enter the room, Mr. Nishimura is talking to someone.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
My friend! (He laughs and welcomes Mr. Sandoval) Oh, youāre with your beautiful daughter. Nice to meet you again, Jane.Ā
JANE:Ā
Good evening Sir, Itās pleasant to meet you.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Iām glad you accepted my invitation. I really want to discuss something.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL: (Looks at Jane before talking) What is it?Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
You mentioned to me that you need someone for the safety of your daughter. I know someone who can protect her. He is a well trained bodyguard and an ex assassin. He works for my cousin. Thatās why Iām recommending him to you.Ā
(A random man entered the room then he bowed to the three guests. He is tall and has cold eyes. He looked perfect with his black tux.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Mr. Sandoval, this is Dark.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Hm, Iām expecting you to protect my daughter.
(Jane looks at Dark, she feels something weird because it seems like they already met each other).Ā
JANE:Ā
(whispers) You look familiar to me.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Pardon?Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Mr. Nishumura, you never failed to amaze me with your powers! (Laughs) Just donāt forget about the oath. Itās our life. Not only yours.Ā
(Then Mr. Sandoval and Jane left the room. Mr. Nishimura called his son, Jaycee by the alias Dark.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
It also costs your life Jaycee, donāt let that old man get in our way or else. You know what will happen.Ā
Jaycee:Ā
Yes. Sir. (He emphasized the name he just called his father. He grits his teeth, trying to contain his frustration.)Ā
SCENE 4Ā
Sequence 4Ā
Outdoors. 12 Midnight. After the whole conversation that happened between the two families, Jayceeās thoughts never stopped running. He was confused why his father didn't introduce him with his real name. Was it because of his mission? Was it to fool the Sandovals? Or his father was simply hating on him, that is why no one knows he is the son of the biggest and richest businessman? No one knows the reason why his father is treating him that way.
(Dark started working after 1 week, heās always checking Jane from afar. But Jane didnāt know the reason behind it. That's why she kept asking her Dad about Darkness. But the only answer she gets isā¦)Ā
MR.SANDOVAL:Ā
(Not even looking at his daughter) Heās just there Jane, he canāt be with you closely. Itās my order.Ā
(Jane kept checking her surroundings if Dark was there. Not until one time, Jane decided to go to a convenience store at 12am in the morning. Suddenly a group of male tried to approach her but someone interrupted them.)Ā
DARK:Ā
Excuse me.Ā
GUY:Ā
Get out! (His other friends laughed and teased dark) Sorry man, but we were first! (laughs)Ā
DARK:Ā
What did you say? (He grabbed the guyās collar but someone stopped him)Ā
JANE:Ā
Stop, just leave them alone, Dark. Itās my order. (She grabbed dark and went outside)Ā
(Jane was frustrated about how dark handled the situation earlier, but she also felt relief knowing that Dark is always there for her. Somewhat, this whole time, she was denying something that she feels everytime Dark appears and disappears to save her.)
JANE:Ā
So, you will just show up when Iām in danger?Ā
(Dark didnāt answer her question)Ā
JANE:Ā
How long have you been checking me from afar?Ā
DARK:Ā
After the day we met in the restaurant.Ā
(Jane stops walking and realizes sheās holding Dark's hand for a long time. They ended up in front of a playground. Jane decided to sit on a swing while Dark was standing beside him. Leaning his upper body in the tree.)Ā
JANE:Ā
(Despite debates on asking such a sentimental question on someone she doesnāt really know anything about yet, she opens her mouth to talk.) Do you believe in love?Ā
(The man beside her didnāt even spare a glance. His brows furrowed as if it was a hard question. She felt a surge, like an electricity traveling through her body. It feels weird to be with him, alone in this place. As their eyes met, a light reflected through Darkās cold eyes. The feeling of being safe and comfortable when with him was once again present. Not because he is Janeās bodyguard but because he seems to be a good person.)Ā
DARK:Ā
Because of this moment, maybe yes.(He shifts his stare on the ground, denying the fact that he was just stunned with the maidenās beauty)Ā
JANE:
How about the rules, Dark? You know, promises and honor are very important to us.Ā
DARK:Ā
I can die breaking the rules, Jane. I know where to stop but if itās for someone who is worth the risk. Iām willing to abandon what life I have now, especially him.Ā
JANE:Ā
Him? (Dark didnāt answer)Ā
JANE:Ā
(She took his silence as a cue to stop asking further questions) This night looks so perfect like the moon. I mean the moon looks beautiful, doesn't it?Ā
DARK:Ā
(As he realized what she meant, that she confessed how she likes him, he just slightly smirks) Just like you?Ā
JANE:Ā
(laughs and smiles endearingly at him) What? Nobodyās perfect, Dark.Ā
DARK:Ā
But you are āNobodyā and āMoonā, perfect and pretty. (smirks)Ā
SCENE 5Ā
Sequence 5Ā
A dark alleyway near Nishimura Building. Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Some of the Sandovalās personnel are having cigarette breaks or short coffee breaks.
(Maddie stands in a dark alley a few blocks away from the Nishimura Building, she takes out a cigarette and lights it as she hears panting and running in the street nearby.)Ā
MADDIE:Ā
(Alarmed she threw her cigarette on the ground and bravely warned) Whoās there?! Show yourself!Ā
(She shuffles through her bag letting out a fog at each breath she takes frantically looking for her swiss knife to use as a weapon.)Ā
MADDIE:Ā
Donāt you dare come any closer!Ā
(A panting man who looked familiar to Maddie walks in bloody and bruised crying and holding his hands up begging her not to harm her.)Ā
UNNAMED MAN:Ā
P-Please! Please⦠Please listen to me, theyāre chasing me! MADDIE:Ā
Who? Whoās Chasing you?Ā
(Maddie pushes the unnamed man into the dark alleyway as she notices 4 men in dark clothing.)Ā
NISHIMURAāS WORKER:Ā
H-Hey! Ms. Maddie! Fancy seeing you around here, you must be working? (Maddie smiles.)Ā
MADDIE:
Yeah! Just doing some searching for one of my clients, Iām taking more of the backseat work for now. My private work is laid off temporarily so these easy jobs keep enough food on the table for me.Ā
NISHIMURAāS WORKER:Ā
Alright! By the way, did you notice any guy running past here by any chance?Ā
MADDIE:Ā
N-No? Actually, I mightāve heard some running that went that way. Maybe thatās what you boys are looking for. What are you guys up to, beating up some loaners who canāt pay up?Ā
NISHIMURAāS WORKER:Ā
It's more complicated than that. Our boss, I mean Mr. Nishimura, found a trespasser in the building. It was customary for us to get the boy before any confidential info he mightāve got his hands on gets out to the public.Ā
MADDIE:Ā
Oh no, shouldnāt you boys be chasing after him now? Go! Before I hold you up some more.Ā
(The Nishimura worker smiles as he glances back giving Madison a salute as the Worker runs off with 3 other men.)Ā
UNNAMED MAN:Ā
T-Thank you! How can I ever repay you Ms. Madison!Ā
(The unnamed man drops down to her knees crying).Ā
MADDIE:Ā
How do you know my name? Hold on a second, I know you? You work for Mr. Sandoval!
(The unnamed man stands up shivering as Maddie takes off her coat wrapping it around his body.)Ā
MADDIE:Ā
Come on, Let's get you out of here.Ā
(The Sandoval worker and Maddie arrive at Mr. Sandovalās office.) MADDIE:Ā
Mr. Sandoval, you have got to see this.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Madison I really donāt have the time.Ā
MADDIE:Ā
I know whatās been happening with your workers. They are being brutalized.Ā
(The Sandoval worker walks in as Maddie holds him up.) MR SANDOVAL:Ā
Heavens⦠Whatās your name, boy.Ā
SANDOVALāS WORKER/ UNNAMED MAN:Ā
M-My name is John sir.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
W-What happened to you? What did they do to you?Ā
JOHN:Ā
I got beat up by the workers from Mr. Nishimura, they were instructed to do this to me sir. Me and my co-workers, theyāre all dead.
(Mr. Sandoval, holding in his anger, throws his glass holding whiskey across the room, shattering into a thousand pieces.)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Those bastards! All this stuff that I did for them and this is how they repay me?Ā
(Mr. Sandoval grabs his coat and his hat as he storms out the room, he sees a worker walking by then he instructs him to bring the injured Sandoval worker to see the doctor.)Ā
Scene 6Ā
Sequence 6Ā
Sandovalās Conference Room. Wednesday. Both partners have an agenda set for the day, each with a stunning surprise. One wishes to end things, while one wishes to progress.Ā
(Mr. Sandoval lights up his cigar as he taps his fingers on his table while a soothing tune plays on his record player. Four strong knocks came from his door.)Ā
MR. SANDOVALĀ
Come in.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Hey Hey Hey!!Ā
(Mr. Nishimura Mr. Sandoval puts on a smile as he puts both his hands up while still sitting down.)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Ha! Well, if it isnāt Mr. Nishimura! What brings you here pal?
(Mr. Nishimura shrugs as he plops a bottle of wine on Mr. Sandovalās table. Mr. Sandoval then puts two intricately sculpted glasses on the table, pushing the other one to Mr. Nishimura.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Well, of course to discuss this new idea with you. This is going to be the biggest yet.Ā
(Mr. Nishimura calls to one of his henchmen outside the office, the henchman spreads a blueprint of new extravagant buildings, and villas spanning out on acres of land onto the table as he hands Mr. Nishimura folders.)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Whatās all this?Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
This is a resort, not just any resort⦠A resort for the most popular stars, starlets, celebrities, senators, every person you can think of where their name is mentioned even to the furthest corners of the earth.Ā
MR.SANDOVAL:Ā
That sounds great, Rio. I canāt wait to see where this new venture of yours will go.Ā
(Mr. Nishimuraās smile faded slowly as he tilted his head slightly to the side, seemingly confused to what Sandoval just said.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Well of course I would need your help with this project of mine, itās not a Nishimura business without you Barth.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:
Well, I donāt know Rio, it's not in my best interest right now.Ā
(Sandoval stands from his chair, holding his coat on one hand as he takes his glass of wine and empties it with one sip.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
W-What do you mean not of best interest? We built an enterprise together! We built a kingdom, and this is just one of our many little castles we can own and we would be able to own so many more!Ā
(Sandoval sighs holding his tear ducts together as he has his head down, shaking in disbelief.)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Rio, Iāll be heading out of my office now.Ā
(Sandoval takes a few steps to his door as Nishimura blocks the way outside frantically.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
What do you mean closing? You need me. You need this, all you need to do is sign away and everything will start as soon as possible. This could possibly be everything.Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Get out of my way Mr. Nishimura, I am not interested. I am no longer interested in this partnership we have.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
What do you mean not interested?Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
I am no longer interested in whatever the hell weāre working together on, I no longer want to have any partnership, unity, or negotiations
with you or your name. This whole thing is over. Plus, I need a break from all of thisā¦(He gestured with his hands and sighed.) I want to spend my time with my family. Now please, I have to head out to meet my daughter.Ā
(Nishimura looks at Sandoval right in the eye as he lets Sandoval walk out the door, not taking his eye off him as he walks out.)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Youāre going to regret this Barth⦠You are going to regret thisā¦Ā
SCENE 7Ā
Sequence 7Ā
Nishimuraās property. It was the same day when Nishimuraās plan got rejected by Sandoval. Frustrated, he left the building and seemed to be in a bad mood for the rest of the day.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
WHERE, IS, THE, HEAD, OF, THAT, WORKER?!. (He threw a punch on the worker)Ā
Nishimura Worker:Ā
S- Sir, we wounded him enough to make him bleed to death, it is only a matter of time before he dies.( He was frightened to even say something that might trigger him even more)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(He scoffed at his reply) You are taking this lightly? YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE THIS IS NOT A BIG DEAL! Listen to me, That worker is a big evidence that could take us down for good. BRING HIS HEAD OR YOU'RE THE ONE WHOāS GOING IN THE OTHER SIDE!. (He shouted)
(Maddie who was hiding behind the wall heard everything and immediately left after Mr. Nishimuraās conversation with his workers)Ā
(At Mr. Sandovalās place)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Jane, we need to talk.Ā
(Jane is confused as she entered the room)Ā
JANE:Ā
What is it Pa?Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Look, I know youāre strong, I know you can handle yourself already. That is why I am asking you to prepare yourself for an upcoming event.Ā
(A person from the shadowy part of the room emerges)Ā
MADDIE:Ā
For war.Ā
(Back to Mr. Nishimuraās House)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Men, we are all gathered here to prepare ourselves. Your lives, your families, and your freedom lies on the results this time. This is not a game. A worker of the Sandovals slipped through my grasp and managed to tell the Sandovals about our little doings. There is one more thing.Ā
(Mr. Nishimura points Maddie)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:
This woman is a traitor, lock her up and do not let anyone see you. (Maddie tries to escape but failed)Ā
(A loud bang from the door alerted the whole Nishimura) NISHIMURA WORKER:Ā
THE SANDOVALS!Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Let him in.Ā
NISHIMURA WORKER:Ā
But sir.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Do it.Ā
(Mr. Sandoval himself entered the room with 3 guards behind him) MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Old friend, what brings about your unexpected arrival? MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Stop this Rio Nishimura, We have come to arrest you, We do not have to have blood on our hands to end this.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(Laughs hysterically) Youāre going to arrest me with 3 men? We can take you out here in an instant just like what we did to your other workers.Ā
(Mr. Sandoval raises his hand to signal something)
(Mr. Sandovalās workers came out from all directions and pointed their weapons at Mr. Nishimura)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
You canāt win, We have this place under control, You still have the chance to surrender.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Tch, This is not the end my friend, Someone will take over everything for me.Ā
SCENE 8Ā
Sequence 8Ā
Sandovalās House. After what happened between Mr. Nishimura and Mr. Sandoval; Jane finds out from her father that Jaycee is Dark. Although she didnāt mind the cover up that Jaycee just did, because of her loveĀ
for him as her boyfriend, she asks for her fatherās guidance and wishes to live with him in a faraway city.Ā
(At Mr. Sandovalās Place)Ā
MR. SANDOVAL:Ā
Darling, I donāt feel safe that you are always with Nishimuraās son. He mentioned before that someone will rise after him. I cannot be at ease, knowing that his son might be the one to continue his deeds.Ā
JANE:Ā
Pa, Jaycee is not that kind of person, He is a Nishimura but he acts nothing like his father. I know that, I am sure of it! (She pleads to her father)
MR. SANDOVALl:Ā
Jane! (He shouts out of frustration, this makes Jane flinch. He approaches her and cups her cheek to calm her down and apologizes for scaring her.) Look, I am just concerned about your safety, I cannot afford to lose my precious daughter.Ā
JANE:Ā
I appreciate your concern Pa, I Love You. But I beg of you⦠Please let me go against your will, for once. (She begs with her eyes glistening of an upcoming downpour of tears.)Ā
(At the Nishimuraās Place)Ā
JAYCEE:Ā
(Laying on Janeās lap, he asks doubtingly) I want my father out of that prison, I canāt run this whole thing without him. I didnāt even want to be his heir in the first place.Ā
JANE:Ā
(She calms him down by brushing his hair with her fingertips.) How about we talk to my father and ask if he can be imprisoned inside the place. Like, House arrest? (She suggests.)Ā
JAYCEE:Ā
Hmmā¦That is more than enough, I guess. Thank you. (He kissed her cheek)Ā
(The couple convinced Mr. Sandoval about the idea and they celebrated)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
I knew that you couldnāt let me down, Son. You truly are one hell of a Nishimura HAHAHA!.
JAYCEE:Ā
(He coldly replies) I am doing this for the business, not for you. Please donāt cause any more trouble.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Jane, can you give us a moment please?Ā
(Jane left the room)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
You have gotten soft, my son. I am starting to see a different person in you. Hah, I have an idea. Next week, I will throw a small celebration in here, but we canāt have Jane around okay?Ā
JAYCEE:Ā
Just leave Jane out of your plans, Sheās the one who set you free after all.Ā
Nishimuraās House. 5 in the afternoon. Jaycee goes home after meeting up on a date with Jane. He was greeted by his father with an unpleasant surprise.Ā
(ARRIVED AT MR. NISHIMURA'S HOUSE)Ā
MR.NISHIMURA:
Oh, Jaycee, you're already here. I want to introduce you to someone. JAYCEE:Ā
(Eyebrows raised)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Let me introduce you to Tanya. I want you both to get married soon. TANYA:Ā
Glad to meet you (Look at Jaycee)Ā
JAYCEE:Ā
(Eyebrow raised) What is it? Married? (Scoffs at his fatherās nonsensical banters)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
Ah, Tanya, could you please excuse us? I'll just talk with my son. TANYA:Ā
Sure, Sir (gave a sweet smile)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(His gaze turned furious, yet a deadly one because he seems more quiet) What is that? What are you saying, you will not marry Tanya? You will marry her whether you want it or not. Do you know how many shares we can get from them? Don't you recognize them? They are oneĀ
of the richest families in the country, and their name is very famous. If you marry her, my business will grow even more and I will have power.Ā
JAYCEE:
What do I care if they're famous? I won't get married to her because I don't love that girl and she's not the one I dream of growing up with. I don't care what power you want to get!Ā
MR.NISHIMURA:Ā
You are so rude! You did not respect me as your father. JAYCEE:Ā
You're my father? Since when? You didn't treat me like your own child, so I don't have a father like you. I didn't have a father who was greedy for power. To me, you were just a useless old man who did nothing but kill people. (Walked out).Ā
(Jaycee gets into the car and leaves.)Ā
MR.NISHIMURA: (He threw the marriage papers across the floor. Calling someone, he tries to calm down) Hello? I want you to do something.Ā
THIRD PERSON: While Jaycee was driving, there were cars waiting for him, and people with their faces covered got out, a chase happened but it ended tragically, the men shot the car Jaycee was riding in. This leads to oneās loss.Ā
SCENE 10Ā
Sequence 10Ā
Hospital. 2019. Jayceeās Death Anniversary. A year has passed after all the chaos. As part of the mourning for those who still couldnāt accept Jayceeās death, one visits the culprit of all.Ā
(Jane enters the door of Mr. Nishimura's hospital room) JANE:
How is the demon father of Jaycee doing? I wonder why you are so strong and still alive. What does it feel like to lay in that bed? Mr. Nishimura, it appears that you only have a few months left to live.Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(Shocked) Jane? I did not expect you to visit here.Ā
JANE:Ā
Why do you appear so startledālike you just encountered a ghost? Are you terrified that I am standing in front of you and will gradually make you pay for your sins?Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(He stood up despite his weak legs, as he stumbled upon Janeās feet) Jane, I am sorry for whatever mistakes I may have made in the past. I'm hoping you can forgive me. I am aware that it is difficult to forgive because of my sin, yet I still beg your forgiveness. (He spoke in a hoarse voice, brought by age and sickness)Ā
JANE:Ā
What are you thinking? After you killed your own son? You are not as bad. I'm sorry to say this, but I can't forgive you for what you did. Jaycee died because of you. He died without you being forgiven and you will die without getting the forgiveness you want. (She coldly and nonchalantly replied at the old man)Ā
MR. NISHIMURA:Ā
(Tears formed at his eyes, as he sought defeat, guilt swallowing him up as all the actions he did came back to his vision) I understand and I'm sorry for everything (holds Jane's hand)Ā
JANE:
As I've already said, I won't forgive you. I will destroy you and repent for your sins. I'll take your business and all of your assets, and I'll keep bringing you down until you pass away. (Turns and exits the room.)Ā
THIRD PERSON: After Jane and Mr. Nishimura's chat, Jane took over all of Mr. Nishimura's business. She left nothing behind, not even a single coin.Ā
AKIRA:Ā
It looks like we're happy now. What about life and business? JANE:Ā
It's fine, it was successful, just like I said before. (Contradicting her words, her face painted nothing but a straight face)Ā
AKIRA:Ā
(She doubts her friends' words and expressions. Yet she let it pass, thinking maybe it was just due to her exhausted feeling) That's what you look like. Do you have an appointment today?Ā
JANE:Ā
Yes, I'm going to a meeting, so I'll say goodbye to you. (She waved goodbye to her friend, Akira unexpectedly hugs her, she then reciprocates the warmth. Not knowing that it is the last, they both tightened their hugs and let go)Ā
THIRD PERSON: Jane left for her business meeting, but unexpectedly she had a car accident, which was the cause of her death. On her deathbed, she only spoke a single- sentence.Ā
JANE:Ā
He vividoā¦(Meaning, āI have lived.ā A part of her promise to Jaycee that day he was shot dead by his fatherās men.)
(Crying on the floor as her son LUCA watches while crying) IĀ promise! I did no such thing! Your family has taken care of meĀ and my son. I have nothing but gratitude.Ā
AMBROSEāS MOTHERĀ
You killed him! You poisoned my husband! How do you cry and pleaĀ innocence when you know what you have done!Ā
LUCAāS MOTHERĀ
(LUCAāS MOTHER watches AMBROSEāS MOTHER as she throws away herĀ clothes on the floor) No, please you have to believe me! It wasĀ not my fault. The food I had prepared for him was the same, asĀ always!Ā Ā
AMBROSEāS MOTHERĀ
(Pushes them out of the house, making LUCA cry more. He trips,Ā and a wound on his knee appears) You liar! Get out of our house.Ā Find someplace else for I am not one to let you work for me anyĀ longer! What happens if you hurt my child?Ā
LUCAāS MOTHERĀ
No, please! There is no other place that will- (Door is shut inĀ front of their face.Ā
SCENE 2Ā
Setting: In the streets, outside the homes of the bourgeoisie LUCAĀ
(Sleeping in the streets, with a piece of paper next to him)Ā Please spare some change for me and my mother.Ā
Sequence 2Ā
LUCAĀ
My mother has been wrongfully accused! I am certain of it! ThoseĀ rich people, bored beyond wit, orchestrated it all! There was notĀ any investigation whatsoever. How could they be so certain of theĀ Ā
perpetrator? I actually thought they were different, especiallyĀ Ambrose. But he is merely one of those people who perceive poorĀ people as inconsequential and that we will take whatever theyĀ give us and accuse us of. (LUCA becomes silent)Ā
LUCAĀ
This is utterly unfair. Everything is incredibly perplexing. IĀ must avenge my motherās innocence! I will go to any extent andĀ make any compromise to achieve my revenge. But how would I goĀ about it? How can a sluggish, helpless boy like myself stand upĀ to them? (LUCA clutches his hair) No, this is not the moment toĀ contemplate negative emotions. I desire revenge, and I will getĀ it.Ā
(LUCA was sweating and famished when he fell to a shallow sleep.Ā He was dreaming and hallucinating about a large basket of fruit.)Ā
LUCAĀ
What is it? What was the source of this? No one would come hereĀ to give a basket of fruits to an accused maidās son. These areĀ fresh. (He touches the basket) What marvel just transpired? (HeĀ rubs his as if he was still half asleep.) I was secretly wishingĀ for this, now that I think about it. But I thought it was allĀ happening I my head. How did it appear miraculously in real life?Ā (He abruptly stands up.) Hallucinations! It was a hallucinationĀ of mine! I will give it another chance. What do I really need?Ā Perhaps a glass of water by my side. (He closes his eyes to thinkĀ deeply and starts to hallucinate.)Ā
(A glass of water appears in front of LUCA)Ā
What precisely is this sorcery? Could this be right? (He drinksĀ the water) A glass of water beside an accused maidās son! ThisĀ was exactly the vision I had in mind.
Sequence 3Ā
Scene 3Ā
LUCAĀ
I was thinking that if the glass of water that was in my mindĀ came true, is it also the scene that in my mind became true? LetĀ me try it. (He saw a lonely dog and he starts to think deeply andĀ hallucinates that the dog will find his owner). It becameĀ true! What a precisely power is this (He laughs at himself.) ButĀ besides that, it is more important to me to kill AMBROSE in orderĀ to get my revenge. (He thinks of a plan) Now I have a betterĀ plan.(He laughs crazily) I am going to do my plan as soon asĀ possible.(He laughs crazily again.)Ā
Scene 4Ā
Setting: In the streets of townĀ
LUCAĀ
(He saw AMBROSE sitting on the bench, and he approached AMBROSE).Ā Greetings. It has been a while.Ā
AMBROSEĀ
(He looks at LUCA before looking somewhere again.)Ā
I almost did not recognize you. How about you, what are you doingĀ here? I apologize for what happened when we were young...Ā
LUCAĀ
(He stares at AMBROSE before he speaks)Ā
I was taking a walk and suddenly I saw you. I think that youĀ might need someone here besides you. It has happened a while ago.Ā All if forgiven. (He smiles at AMBROSE)Ā
(They became friends once again that day and they start to getĀ close to each other.)
Scene 3Ā
Setting: streetsĀ
LUCAĀ
(He was walking with AMBROSE) Hey, AMBROSE, would you like toĀ walk with me? The sky is nice and it also has the garden is fullĀ of flowers! (He did not wait for AMBROSE answer, and dragged himĀ to walk together.)Ā
AMBROSEĀ
It is quite pleasant here. I am glad that I have met a friendĀ from my younger days again.Ā
(After a few weeks they became so close to each other, more thanĀ ever before.)Ā
Scene 4Ā
LucaĀ
(He was laying and staring somewhere when he accidentally fellĀ asleep. He dreams and hallucinates about his plan of killingĀ AMBROSE. (He immediately stands up when he realizes heĀ accidentally used his powers). Oh no, what I have done!
Sequence 4Ā
Setting: Streets outside the Ambrose HouseholdĀ
LUCAĀ
(LUCA, on his knees, tears running down his cheeks.)Ā
No, what have I done?! (LUCA feeling remorse, grits his teeth.) I am no better than those monsters who blamed everything on myĀ mother, this power is nothing but a curse! Why would I even stoopĀ down to this level? Is there even a way to reverse this? (ForĀ hours, LUCA contemplated on the decisions he has made, wonderingĀ what he did wrong for it to lead to this point.)Ā
(LUCA came up with a realization, since he thought up of thisĀ event, all he needed to do was to hallucinate the prevention ofĀ AMBROSEās death.)Ā
LUCAĀ
I just need to concentrate really hard, I will not let AMBROSE die over my misguided actions. (It had reached dawn and he stillĀ could not hallucinate anything, nothing was appearing in hisĀ thoughts.) What is happening? Why can I not see anything? I willĀ just have to try harder. (The morning had come by and it was allĀ fruitless effort.)Ā Ā
(LUCA was starving, helpless, his cheeks stained with his dryĀ tears.)Ā
Scene 2Ā
Setting: Outside the Bourgeoisie ManorĀ Ā
(A loud knocking came at AMBROSEās Manor, waking everyoneĀ including AMBROSE. Opening the door he had seen LUCA, pantingĀ heavily.)Ā
AMBROSEĀ
LUCA, is that you? What are you doing here so early in theĀ morning?Ā
LucaĀ
AMBROSE, I am so sorry. (He had a grave expression on his face.) AMBROSE
What do you mean by that LUCA? What could you have done thatĀ needs you to give me an apology? Come inside, it is cold outside.Ā Your clothes are tattered.Ā Ā
(LUCA, once again falls down to his knees, grabbing ontoĀ AMBROSEās hand, his eyes starting to tear up.)Ā
LUCAĀ
I did not mean for this to happen to you. I am so sorry my dearĀ friend. If only there was a way to reverse this.Ā
AMBROSEĀ
LUCA, stand up and snap out of it, before you go all hystericalĀ on me Calm down first so I could at least get a sense of what you are trying to say.Ā
(At that moment, LUCA had passed out due to exhaustion. When heĀ awoke, he was laying in AMBROSEās bed.)Ā
LUCAĀ
What happened? Why am I in your room?Ā
AMBROSEĀ
You passed out, you looked like a dying horse to get to here,Ā what exactly happened?Ā Ā
LUCAĀ Ā
You are about to die soon AMBROSE, and it is all my fault. AMBROSEĀ
What are you yapping on about LUCA? (AMBROSE scoffs.) LUCAĀ
Seriously AMBROSE, please take this seriously, my friend.Ā
(There was an awkward tension in the air, dead silence filled theĀ room.)Ā
AMBROSEĀ
I see⦠I just need to think for a while, I will leave you be forĀ now.Ā
(Ashamed of what he had done, LUCA begrudgingly gets rest.)Ā
Sequence 5Ā Ā
Scene 1Ā
LUCAĀ
(LUCA was crying. He was hysterical. He cried, and cried, untilĀ his eyes could not produce anymore tears.) It is all my fault. IĀ should not have let anger consume me. It is all wrong. I am allĀ wrong.Ā Ā
AMBROSEĀ
You need to stop that, my friend. I do not know what you saw orĀ what you heard, but I am here. I am fine and I am not ill at all.Ā
LUCAĀ
I know, I know, but you have to understand. I can see the future!Ā AMBROSEĀ
And I am a talking donkey. Please just get some rest. I wouldĀ like my friend to be back to normal by tomorrow. (AMBROSE laughs,Ā and leaves LUCA to rest once more. He goes to the kitchen andĀ fetches himself some cold milk.)Ā
LUCAĀ
(LUCA leaves the bedroom, deciding to follow AMBROSE to try andĀ stop the prophecy.) No, do not! (He tried to stop AMBROSE fromĀ drinking the milk.)Ā
AMBROSEĀ
This milk tastes oddly different.Ā Ā
LUCAĀ
That is because it is poisoned!Ā Ā
AMBROSEĀ
Nonsense, I feel perfectly fine. Genuinely, my friend, I doĀ believe you need to drink some tea. Nothing is wrong with me. (AsĀ soon as AMBROSE has said that, he falls to the ground.)
LUCAĀ
I knew it! I could not reverse time. What was blamed of myĀ motherās doing will now be the cause of your death. Dearly, I amĀ sorry. I could not reverse the prophecy. (He crouches down, holdsĀ AMBROSE in his arms. He shakes AMBROSE to try to get a word outĀ of him. But nothing happens. His life is now lifeless.)
āI struggle, we all struggle, but realize what your struggle is.ā
My nameās Angel. Iām a trans woman living in New York City, the home to bustling cars, city lights, very vulgar drivers, lots of rats, and one-dollar pizzas. It really doesnāt live up to the hype people say it is. There are a lot of people suffering, sleeping in alleys, hustling any way they can in the piers. I used to be one of them, and hereās how I first thought I escaped it. It was 1983, it was freezing cold outside. I was on my way to hustle; it was the only thing I could do at the time. Try finding work as a trans woman in the eighties, while surviving off of ramen packets; warm if youāre lucky. I wore my fur coat I invested $20 in with a cheap nightgown in a matching lavender color that was slightly warmer of a shade underneath. I was wearing my favorite white boots, but they got wet from the damp wood the piers were made of.
There wasnāt exactly a schedule for girls with the same work as me, as long as it was dark and late. Youād get picked up by white rich men fast. But this time I was in a rush; my girlfriends were a lot earlier to the spot than me. I ran as fast as I could in this dimly lit street I always walk by, its scary but you get used to it. I was holding the other side of my fur coat as I ran, it was cold, breezy, and I felt the cold wind whoosh through my skin and hair. My boots made the sound of loud clunking but it was muffled because of the wet wood. I felt a strong gust of wind completely flowing my hair, and for a moment I stopped and inhaled the cold. Even though I smoke I always love the way the cold air flushing through my lungs.
I snapped back from my melancholy moment and saw my girlfriends waiting for me, they were all waving at me as they stood by the light pole as one of them puffs a cigarette with the smoke following the air their hands were making. I smiled and rushed over, making big steps so I can get their faster. Smiling and tucking my hair behind my ear and I say āHey dolls!ā. Us trans sisters say dolls to each other, itās just the way we speak. Talia blows out a smoke as she holds her cigarette away from her mouth and she says in an energetic tone āGirl⦠weāve been waiting for you. You went home early yesterday and you missed this guy asking for you! Heās right over there waiting!ā as she points out to a man in this business suit sitting in his car with this demure music with his hands resting on the wheel staring at me and my friends. I turn around away from the wind as it blows through the coils of my hair. I slowly walk up to this car with its window only halfway down, he looks at me and smiles. I look at him with a straight face and I said with a strong tone āIts fifty for the night, twenty for thirty minutes.ā. He gives me a warm smile and looked right at my eyes and says āAlright, fifty.ā, I look back at my friends giving them the signal to call the police if they donāt see me come home tomorrow as a joke, laughing. Even if this guy was a serial killer, I knew I didnāt have a single hope for the police saving or finding me, people like me are the last priority.
I look back at the guy in his seat, eyeing him up and down. He was clearly flushed and nervous at my presence. I thought it was cute, he didnāt look bad either, he was tall, pale, and his hair was probably undone from a hairstyle he was wearing earlier his day. He looked at me but he looked down as if he was scared to look at my eyes as if he wasnāt looking directly at me earlier. He uttered shakingly āY-youāre very beautiful...ā, I thought it was stupid but adorable. āYou do know Iām transexual right?ā I asked him as I tilted my head looking at him smirking. He finally looked me in the eye and said āItās what I admire about you, itās like youāre free being you and its amazing. Iāve always envied that.ā. I took a deep sigh and looked away for a moment staring at the road, almost blanking out. I say in a calm tone, āWhat is there to envy? You do know how lucky you are right? Youāre white, you have a job, you have a house. Iām here selling my soul to you people to get what, scraps?ā I said without tearing up, Iāve always made a point on this so Iām desensitized to the idea that this is what I am; this is what Iāll have to do. He looked down in silence for a moment recollecting what I just said. I look back at him, seeing him turn pale then slowly go red. āPlease, get out.ā, I look at him confused. āPlease get out!ā He shouts as I arch my brow, opening the car door and stepping out like he wanted. He speeds off, his car blowing smoke to my face as I just stand dumbfounded. Finally, the cold air blows once again on my face as I look up and stare at the stars. I whisper to myself, āI guess were going hungry again tonight.ā.
