โณ REGARDING SPOILERS : I keep up with MSQ, so you can generally expect that I will have played and completed it within a day of release (in the case of patches) or within 3-4 days (in the case of expac releases). I use a catch-all expansion spoiler tag, I do not tag specific patches for spoilers. I only tag the current expansion. For reference, you may blacklist #dawntrail spoilers * and know that all future expansions will adhere to the same tagging format. I adhere to two week spoiler bans for patches and one month spoiler bans for expansions; all spoilers will be placed under a readmore during these times. After the spoiler ban passes, I will remove the readmores and no longer be putting spoilers under a cut, but they will remain tagged.

it's always so fascinating and heartbreaking when a character in a story is simultaneously idolized and abused. a chosen prophet destined for martyrdom. a child prodigy forced to grow up too fast. a powerful warrior raised as nothing but a weapon. there's just something so uniquely messed up about singing someone's praises whilst destroying them.
once again thinking about an actor au (modern, obviously, but potentially urban fantasy for funsies bc i simply love koharu's lizardy traits too much) in which xiv is a multimillion dollar blockbuster tv show on the scale of game of thrones with each expansion being its own season of the show
the original show had one season years ago and was cancelled due to low retention, but got a reboot years later (ร la the 1.0 to 2.0 pipeline) with a bunch of returning cast but a new lead (koharu ehehe). rumors of koharu leaving the show at the end of the 5th season when the major overarching story arc wrapped up, which prove true. enw patch being season 6 all on its own, which she wasn't part of. koharu returning in the middle of its 7th season (dt) as a reoccurring guest role but rumored to be back for good (true) and then signing back on as the lead in the upcoming 8th season (ec)
the difference between koharu on the show (horribly depressed canon koharu) vs modern koharu (more upbeat, a little bit of a gremlin)... ough.....
occasionally features crossovers with other ff titles that are also different forms of movies/tv. the whole franchise is kind of like the mcu in that it's all kind of interconnected but mostly each is their own thing

i should really figure out how long of a "retirement" koharu has between the end of 6.0 and mid-7.0 when she rejoins msq. and also if she swaps jobs in that time.
she's canonically been a dark knight since 4.3, which is kind of insane to think about, actually???? she still keeps up with her skills as a samurai, though doesn't really do much with geomancer (she's really not healer--caster in general, actually--material).
both sam and drk are just SO integral to her character (to the point that as a drk she incorporates some of her sam skills) that it feels weird swapping, but also it's not necessarily a bad time to swap?? but also fray. maybe it's time to think about a custom job that specifically incorporates drk (and thus doesn't deprive her of fray)... hm.
