Beaming Sails
The morning brought with it The light of the road to dawn And through the mists they saw The beams upon the sails
The anchor wrenched from the seabed Heaving once, and again Until at last the ship was underway To tread the waters to the sunrise
The phoenix saw the sails unfurled And sent the vessel forth anew To see the silver shores To which it had been called
Along the shores where they ran At the news it had set forth They found a plume set aflame From the captain’s parting smile
