Today we had our first pinup , where we got to show our ideas off to a verity of people. Overall I am happy with our progress and we got some really good feedback. We have been told to really look into our concept of our musical string (Ruby’s idea). Also to create more samples of the geometric patterns, maybe use as triangle patter rather than a circle, and then maybe show them patterns on a triangle structure. So there is plenty more work to do, as well as actually finding out how we are going to make the structures and developing our idea even further. 

On reflection I think today we have decided where each model will be placed within the MIF, we have an idea for indoor eating compact furniture, we have designed an outside seating space, and we have also got some potential ideas for the bar. So I’m feeling a lot more positive about the project and I have created some things that could help us in the future. 

Janet Elhelman is an isntallation artist who creates stunning fabric lifelike structures. She uses string in such a different way to other artists which just shows the versatility of the material, but just as effectively. Her use of colour is also incredibly delicate and seamless. When placed out in open air they resemble the other lights and the second image looks as if the ceiling is on fire, she manages to create these illusions.

Yoyoz Kusama is one of my all time favourite artists, she magnate to create these galaxy like space, she completely transports you to another place by using mirrors and lights. Her clever use of space and use of light is something that I’d like to bring to the Unit X project and if i have the capability to transport people to different place that would be a bonus. 

Gabriel Dawe is one of our biggest inspirations, the way he uses colour and string is genuinely magical, he manages to create these rainbow like rays within a space. It’s such a simple method and it’s really quite easy to achieve once you put your mind to it. There is no heigh tec equipment just string, two or more surfaces and tension. The structures and shapes that you can create are endless. 

IVERING Harper is artist that works with sting and paper. We took an interest in his pattern making and the geometry of his work, even though his colours aren't as bright as previous artists his work still images to gauge the eye. This is due to shadows his work are making and the repetitive patterns that he is creating within his work. 

John Foster is an artist who create these mesmerising sculptures with hexagonal cubes using a verity of glass, mirrors and lights, creating beautiful projections in and around your space with a kaleidoscope like object to look into. His sculptures are so bright and beautiful they create a real mystical and festival atmosphere, hence why we have choose him as one of our main in inspirations for this project. 

With these words in mind we tried to create an atmosphere that reflected the words that are repeated in the brief. looking closely at a verity of artists and looking at how they influence our deign.
