This story is the final part from Workplace Lover part 1 & part 2. 

 It had been a few months since I last hung out with Ron outside of work, things between Alton and I had basically died after our last conversation. We were cordial while we were at work and only spoke outside of work when it was work related. Ron was in the process of getting a new job and that was a bit bittersweet because other than us not hanging out as much now then I wouldn’t have anyone to help me get thru those tough days at work. He would always tell me that nothing would change between us, but I knew it would change because with his new job, I knew that he wouldn’t have as much of free time to hang out.

  We were working at a local store on Ron’s last day and I wanted to hurry up and end early because I had set up a lil going away office party for him. Things were going great until Alton decided that he wanted to be petty and fuck up everything he was counting. It was becoming very annoying because I knew he was doing this shit on purpose. After another 20 mins of recounting I finally told him to leave because he was no use to me at that moment. I should have known that would cause a problem between us later, but I would deal with that when it came. Eventually, we got thru the rest of the counts and made our way back to the office for the party. Of course, my workday wasn’t over just yet because I had to close out the store we counted, that caused a problem with Ron. He cussed me out more times than a little bit until I gave in and decided to finish the work when I got home that night.

  The party was not all that great at first, everyone was being a bit uptight because we were still on company property. All that went out the window when Doris came in with a few gallons of Daiquiri's, things began to loosen up and then it became a real party. Music was blasting, food was served, and everyone dancing and having a good time while we had the opportunity. While I was talking with some of our coworkers, I felt a tap on my shoulder and when I turned around it was Alton standing there looking at me like he wanted to fight.

  “I need to talk to you about something.” He said to me just above a whisper.

  “Ok but if you about to start some shit then you can save your breath because I’m not about to deal with this bullshit right now.” I said looking him directly in his eyes. We walked down the shopping center where our office was in, once we were away from the crowd, we stopped, and the silence was starting to annoy me. “So, what you wanna talk about Alton?”

  “About this thing between us and how I felt played you sent me home today for no reason at all.”

  “Are you serious right now dude, you know exactly why I sent you home, it was because you were purposely fucking shit up because you knew what we were doing today for Ron. Now as far as this thing between us goes……… it should have been clear to you by now but in case it isn’t then let me be clear. The most we can ever be is coworkers, nothing more, nothing less, you have a lot of issues that I’m not willing to deal with from a nigga I’m dating or in a relationship with. Your jealousy is a tad bit scary and I have been down that road before and I can’t afford to do it again.”

  “So, you are saying that because I was a little overprotective of you, it was mistaken for jealousy?”

  “It’s a major difference between protecting and jealousy, what you were showing me, and your actions was not protecting me at all, it was all jealousy. That’s just the beginning tho because you also have very controlling ways as well and in case you haven’t figured it out, I’m not a puppy or some other form of animal that you say sit or stay and I obey your command Alton.”

  “Man, you are tripping for real now with all these lies and shit you spitting out yo mouth, you know good and damn well I’m none of those things.” He said squinting his eyes at me.

  “If you say so but you and I can be nothing past coworkers, I would say we can be friends, but we saw where that lead us and now are we done here because I have a party to get to?”

  “I guess dude, but I still feel you dead wrong for telling lies about me.”

  “Alton, nothing I said was a lie you know it and I do as well.” I said trying to walk away but he stopped me by grabbing my arm. “Alton…... don’t put your hands on me.” I said jerking my arm away from him.

  “My bad Jaye but you always walking off from me when I’m trying to get to the bottom of things between us.”

  “The thing about that is this……. Yes, what we had was fun but it’s over now because you can’t get a grip on your jealousy and wannabe controlling ways. All that came after I told you about some of the things I went thru. That was the thing that made me conclude that we are not meant to be together and that’s the part you not seeing.”

  “How about we start over and go back to the beginning?” He asked touching my arm.

   “How about not……... I’m not trying to go there with anyone right now, I have to much going on so thanks but no thanks.” I said and turned around, walked off, and resumed the party that was going on.

 I don’t know why I agreed to go out to a house party on a damn Thursday night knowing we had school in the morning. I guess that’s the price you pay when you lose a bet playing 2k against a known cheater. I knew Dylan cheated because there was no way in hell someone could come back from a 20-point deficit with 5 minutes left in the game unless they cheated. It was my fault, I looked away for a few seconds to check my text and when I looked back at the game, he was catching up to me.

     “That was such a bitch move Dylan, you couldn’t just take an ass whooping like a man huh?” I said turning the game off.

  “Liam bro, you couldn’t beat me if I gave you a full half worth of scores so shut that shit up and go pick out your clothes……... Loser.” He said smirking.

  “Fuck you.” I said walking back to my room.

       I was glad my parents were out of town on business and my grandma kept my two siblings because there would have been no way in hell I would have been able to talk them into letting me stay out past curfew on a weekday. I heard my shower in the hall turn on letting me know that Dylan was about to get in there. I would have to use my parent’s bathroom to shower. 20 mins later I had showered, lotioned up my body, put on my underwear and jeans. I was walking back to my room when I saw that my bathroom door was open. When I got to the door, I saw Dylan standing in the mirror taking selfies, I noticed that we had the same Express underwear on. I stepped inside the bathroom with him and we both took a selfie with our shirts off.

“This was a solo pic.” He said shoving me a little.

  “My house, my bathroom, my mirror, so I do what I want.”

  “I know you not still salty about losing that game?”

  “Nope now hurry up because I’m not trying to be out all night, we both have school in the morning, or did you forget about that?”

   “Nope that’s why I brought my school uniform with me.”

 “Oh, so you are staying over here tonight?”

 “Duh nigga”

 “Whatever.” I said walking out the bathroom and back to my room to finish getting dressed.

   We made it to the party, and it was more people than I expected it to be here for a weekday party. Once we made it inside, Dylan disappeared probably to go dance with some girl or find out where they had the liquor at. I walked around trying to find a spot to post up in when I literally bumped into Zakaria, this guy from school. He and I text often also he is the only guy I have experienced anything sexual with. It wasn’t anything to extreme just a few jackoff sessions afterschool in the boy’s bathroom.

  “Oh shit, I would’ve never expected to see you here.” Zakaria said looking at me.

  “Yeah, I lost a bet to Dylan cheating ass so I’m here.” I said trying to avoid any eye contact with him.

  “Oh, he is here?” He asked with a hint of malice in his voice or maybe it was jealousy I don’t know.

  “I don’t understand what’s yall beef with each other, yall was close at one time and yall are on the same football team.” I said shaking my head.

  “Because that nigga thinks he is entitled since he made starter.” From the way he shrugged his shoulders after that comment led me to believe that there was more to it than just that bullshit excuse.

  “Whatever, I’m going to get me bottle water and some fresh air, I will catch you later.” I said about to turn to walk off but he stopped me, he leaned in closer so that only I could hear him.

  “You wanna get together later on?” I looked at him after he said but before I could respond to him, Dylan came out of nowhere.

  “What’s going on over here?” He said giving Zakaria a death stare.

  “Just chatting with the homie, why you so worried bum ass nigga?” After Zakaria asked that, I noticed Dylan fist ball up and I knew I had to separate this two before a fight broke out in these folk’s house.

   “Ayy chill out with all that.” I said pulling Dylan back a bit, then I looked over at Zakaria who had a smirk on his face. “I’ma holla at you at school Zak.” I said before walking away with Dylan.

  Once we were far away from Zakaria, I looked at Dylan and I could tell he was still fuming from that lil altercation. After that, I knew it was time to go because if we stayed here any longer, those two would be probably go at it again. I still don’t get why Dylan got so mad at him in that short amount of time, but I was damn sure going to get to the bottom of it before this get to far out of hand. I didn’t say anything to Dylan, I just started walking towards my car, so he already knew I was over this shit. He walked to the car with an even more pissed off look on his face, but I didn’t give one damn.

  “I don’t know why I gotta leave, that bitch ass dude started with me……… I didn’t get a buzz yet.” He said scoffing in the passenger seat.

  “No, you were the one came over there with the shits, we were just talking, but since we on that what’s the reason behind this beef yall got going on?” I said pulling off and heading towards my house.

  “Cause he a fake ass nigga.” He said looking out the window.

  “You see the funny thing about that is your lying and so is he because when I asked him what yall beef was he told me something different. He said it had to do with football and you starting this season.”

  “Oh, well it had my fault that nigga trash……. I don’t wanna talk about his bitch ass no more so drop it.” He said pulling out his phone.

  “I just don’t get it Dylan, yall was cool at one point and now yall enemies, shit don’t make sense at all.”

   “Whatever Liam I don’t wanna talk about this because its pointless and all it’s going to do is piss me off so leave it alone.” I decided not to press the issue anymore for right now, but this was far from done with.

Once we made it back to my house, I went inside and upstairs to my room. I pulled off my clothes and put on some night shorts. I laid across my bed, turned the tv on and began looking for something to watch when I got a text on my phone. It was from Zak, he asked could he come over or could I meet him somewhere for one of our sessions. I didn’t bother responding to him because there was no way in hell, I was going to let him come over here while Dylan was here and second, we weren’t close like that for him to be coming to my house. The other problem was me going somewhere with him would bring up a lot of questions from Dylan ~ not that I had anything to explain to him~ that I wasn’t in the mood for. So, I finally text him back telling him another time. After a little back and forth with Zak, I sat my phone down and began watching tv when I heard music coming from the guest room down the hall. I paid it no mind because usually when he was mad, he would listen to music to calm himself down. The music that he was playing was old 90’s r&b, the kind of music our folks would listen to at cookouts. It was after 11pm by this point and if he wanted to stay up then that was on him but he would have to turn that music down so I could get some sleep.

  I walked down to where the room was and walked in, he was laying in the bed shirtless with a pillow covering his head. “You good?” I asked from the door.

  “Why don’t ask your best friend Zakaria if he is good or not?” He said not moving the pillow from his head.

  “What kinda fucking question is that? I was checking on yo punk ass but you trippin right now, anyway I’m going to sleep so turn that music down or put some headphones on.” I said walking back to my room. I walked in my room and slammed my door close, great now I was going to bed mad. About 20 minutes later I heard my room door opening. “Don’t come fucking with me Dylan or I’m putting yo bitch ass out my house.”

  “Don’t get beat up but I gotta question for you……... you wanna know what my problem is with your lil friend?” I sat up in the bed.

  “I really don’t give a damn at this point just get out my room.” I said getting irritated. He took a deep breath before he started talking again.

  “He tried to come on to me in the locker last year and I turned him down. I thought we were good until he started doing slick underhanded shit while on the field like purposely not block for me or cutting into my plays to get the ball.” Hearing him say that instantly made me think back to those games and how their friendship had changed during that time.

  “Why you aint never tell me? We been boys since elementary school, if that nigga tried you like that then I woulda beat his ass.”

  “Beat his ass or jackoff with him some more to keep him from trying his bullshit?” He said looking me in the eyes. It seemed my whole body froze, and I couldn’t find words to speak. “Yeah I know about that.”

  “Ummm I don’t know what you talking about.” I said looking at the blank tv screen.

  “So, we lying to each other now, maybe you should be careful who you do shit with and you wouldn’t have to worry about your business getting exposed.”

  “Who else knows?”  I asked.

  “From my understanding it’s just me because your lil boyfriend thought by telling me that it would make me want him. But my other question to you is why him?”

  “I don’t know it kinda just happened one day and been going on ever since ………. I can’t believe that hoe ass nigga ran his mouth like a bitch.” I said shaking my head but what I wasn’t expecting was what came out his mouth next.

  “Yeah that may be true but that’s not answering my question…… why him when I’ve been here all along?” I looked at him and once again I was speechless. “I’ve always held out hope that one day you would notice me, but it never came and when he told me that I was pissed.”

  “Why you never said nothing to me about it if you were feeling that way towards me?”

  “Because I thought maybe it was stretching because I’ve seen you pull more hoes than a lil bit, so I kept that to myself.” He said looking at the floor, for some odd reason I felt my body being drawn to him.

  “You should have told me D.” I said walking towards him. “What the old saying your mom use……. Close mouths don’t get fed.” I said lifting his head up, the look in his eyes was something I never saw before from him. We stood for what seemed like forever just looking at each other but it was a few seconds before he leaned in and place his lips on mine. The kiss began to get even more passionate as the seconds rolled by. Somehow, we ended up on my bed with me on top of him still kissing him, our hands roamed around each other bodies in perfect sync with one another.

  “We should stop before things go to far.” He said rubbing my face.

  “Yeah you right……… Dylan I’m glad you finally said something to me and I’m sorry that I didn’t notice this awhile ago.” I said kissing him again.

  “Its ok, we have the rest of high school and college to make up for lost time.” He kissed me again and got out the bed.

  “Where you going?” I asked looking at him confused.

  “To the guest room nigga duh.”

  “Sleep in here with me.”

  “You sure?”

   “I’m sure.” He walked back to the bed and got in behind me. I don’t know what the future has in store for us but I what I do know is that first in the morning I’m beating Zakaria ass. Once that’s done then I’m going to focus on making up for lost time and stop being so clueless with Dylan.

I didn’t understand what was going on in my life right now, I was on my way home when all of a sudden, my stupid ass car broke down. I got out the car and popped the hood, I didn’t know what the hell I was looking for because I knew nothing about fixing cars. I pulled out my phone and tried calling around to some of my homeboys, but it seemed they all had shit to do or they didn’t answer the phone. I sat back in the car trying to figure out what I was going to do, I was too far away from home to walk and I was flat out broke to get a tow truck. I looked up to see thunder clouds forming in thru the night sky, this was not turning out to be a good night for me. I thought about one last person I could call but it was a bit of a stretch.

                                                   Reon 

 “Reon, I don’t know why you calling me, you need to be calling one of the many hoes you played around on me with.” My sort of ex Brittany said after me telling her what happened.

  “Man, this is not about that, I really need your help right now Britt.” I said trying to sound as sincere as possible.

  “Like I said call one of your hoes, I can’t, and I won’t do shit for you and that’s that……. good luck.” She said before hanging up.

  “FUCK MAN.” I yelled out. The moment I stepped out the car it began pouring down raining, I began to think things couldn’t get any worst, but I was wrong, flashing lights appeared behind my car. Just fucking great now I had to deal with these racist ass cops on top of everything else.

  “What seems to be the problem here?” The officer said walking to me with a big ass poncho on.

  “I don’t know officer, it just kills, and it won’t start back up.” I said looking down at the engine.

  “Is this your car?”

  “Yes, it is.” I said with an obvious attitude.

  “Are you sure?”

  “Excuse me, what is that supposed to mean?”

  “We have had a string of car thefts in this area and…….” He was starting to say before I cut him off.

  “And let me guess, I fit the profile of a car burglar, look man if you not trying to help or anything other than harass me then I have more important things to worry about.” I said turning my attention back to my car.

  “I need your license and registration as well as proof of insurance.”

  “For what, man you need to leave me the hell alone, I don’t have to give you shit, I know my rights and right now you are bothering me for no reason.”

  “Ok step away from the car and put your hands on your head.” He with his hand on his taser.

  “Now I’m under arrest because I won’t kiss your ass? Man, this some bullshit.” I said slamming my hood down and placing my hands on my head, I was not trying to become the next Black Lives Matter case.

  “What seems to be the problem Officer?” Someone said from behind me.

  “Sir this doesn’t concern you.” The officer said placing the cuffs on me.

  “Umm yes it does, now I would advise you to tell me what the problem is or there will be legal action taking.” I caught on to the voice and turned my head slightly to see it was my annoying and cute ass neighbor Dallas Briggs. I don’t know where he came from or why he was even here but at least I have a witness to this abuse.

                                                 Dallas Briggs 

“If you don’t step off and mind your business, I will arrest you next for obstruction of justice.”

  “Yea that won’t be happening but in case you have forgot your oath and the constitutional laws we live in, let me remind you of our Fourth Amendment right……… no person shall be restricted of liberty or searched without probable cause, unless there is a presence of a crime involved and since I see no crime was being committed then this arrest is illegal and wont be tolerated. Now officer would you mind uncuffing him and leave him be, it will be gladly appreciated” Dallas said staring the officer down. I was sure that this little stunt was going to land us both in a world of trouble but to my surprise the officer removed the handcuffs from my wrist.

  “Get this piece of shit out of this lot.” He said walking back to his squad car.

  “Have a good night Officer.” Dallas said laughing. “I saw that you were having car trouble, so I stopped to see if I could help.” He said looking at me.

  “Well I’m glad you was here because I would have been spending the weekend behind bars for doing absolutely nothing at all.”

  “Yea, well you should educate yourself with our rights so that way you won’t get messed over.”

  “Yea well my rights aint doing shit for my car right now.” I said slamming the hood again.

  “Look it’s pouring down out here, your soak and wet and there is nothing you can do tonight so let me give you a ride home.” He said walking back to his car.

  After getting all of my important papers and making sure my car was locked up good, I walked back to Dallas car. I was dripping wet from the cold rain water, he had put something on his seat to protect it from my wet clothes. He had the heat on in the car and I had to admit that it felt right in here. We didn’t say nothing for most of the right back to our side of town, it gave me time to think about what I was going to do about my car situation. It was something else that was on my mind as well.

  “How long were you out there when the cop showed up?” I asked.

  “I pulled up a little after you pulled into the parking……… I had to get a few things out the store. While I was in the checkout line I saw the lights, so I rushed out to make sure you were ok.”

  “I appreciate it man.”

  “It’s no problem, I was going to come check on you anyway once I got out the store, I didn’t know you were having car problems until I saw you with the hood up.”

  “I don’t know what’s going on with that dumbass car, it was running fine then it just killed.” I said shaking my head.

  “Well I can get my dad to come look at tomorrow, he supposed to be coming over anyway to check on my sister’s car.”

  “Ok I appreciate that as well.” He didn’t say anything he just nodded his head and continued to drive.

  Dallas, his mom, and his sister moved next door to us about 3 years ago, his mom always nice and she always spoke to us when she saw us. Dallas and his sister didn’t come off as being the friendly neighboring type. They would always avoid eye contact and never spoke more than two words to me, but they were mannerable to my mom. That’s why I’m shocked that I’m sitting in his car and he helped me out with that cop situation. He pulled up to my drive way and hit the lock button on the doors, I gathered my things that I took out my car before reaching for the door.

  “Thanks for this Dallas, I will get you some gas money from my mom by in the morning.” I said opening the door.

  “No need I was heading home anyway so it’s not like it was out the way or anything.” He said smirking.

  “Ok but thanks again.” I said before making a b-line for my door out the rain. When I got to the door, I looked down at the keys and realized that I had the spare keys to my car and they didn’t have the house key on it. I began knocking on the door, it seemed like I was knocking forever, and no one still haven’t come to the door. I went around to the back of the house and noticed that my mom’s car was gone. “Fucking great.” I said out loud because this is turning out to be one hell of a night. I pulled out my phone and sent my mom a text asking where she was, she replied within a few minutes saying that she wasn’t going to be back tonight. Now I’m stuck outside soak and wet, hungry, tired, and pissed off, I walked back to the front of the house and sat in a chair on the porch.

  “Reon, you ok?” I heard Dallas say from his porch.

  “Umm, yea I’m good.” I said lying because I didn’t know anything else to say or do at this moment.

  “You can come over if you want or I can take you somewhere which ever you want to do.”

  “I’ma chill here for a min, you already did enough for tonight.”

  “Whatever you say Reon, I’m not going to beg you.” He said before walking back in the house.  I sat there and thought about it for about 10 minutes before walking next door to Dallas house. I knocked on the door and waited for him to answer. “I thought you would come to your senses.” He said opening the door and standing to the side for me to enter.

  “Let me guess both our moms are out together?” I asked, and he nodded his head.

  “I have some extra clothes that I can let you wear and you can sleep in the den tonight as well.” He said walking towards the stairs.

  “Thanks again.” I said dropping my stuff by the couch and waiting for him to come back downstairs. This was the first in years that I have seen the inside of this house, his mom upgraded almost everything in here and it looked nothing like our house. I stood looking around at all the different pictures and stuff they had when he walked back into the living room. He handed me the clothes and I was surprised when I saw a pair of boxer briefs in the mist. Before I could say anything to him he started smirking.

  “I figured you needed some underwear as well and since those or the only thing I wear then you will have to make do with them……. Fucking asshole.” He said looking at a text that came thru on his phone.

  “I guess I don’t really have a choice, do I?” I said laughing.

  “Nope, bathroom is down the hall, last door on the left.” He said not looking up from his phone, I shook my head and walked down the hall to the bathroom. I finished up showering and got dressed in the clothes he gave me to put on, these damn boxer briefs were uncomfortable at first, but I got used to them.

  “You ok?” I said looking at Dallas who had an irritated look on his face, even still he was cute as ever. I have always been bi-curious for as long as I could remember, but I never acted on it. I would usually do just what I’m doing now and that was admire them from a distant, even though I knew that Dallas was gay, I would probably never build up enough courage to say this to him or anyone else.

  “My problems, but there is some food on the stove and drinks in the fridge, if you need anything else just let me know, my room is the second door on the left.” He said walking back upstairs. I went down to the where the den was and turned on the tv. I flipped thru the channels to find nothing interesting on the tv at all. I got up and walked back in the living room to try and find a DVD or something to watch until I fell asleep. I didn’t find anything downstairs, I began walking up the stairs and I didn’t have to remember what room Dallas’s was because I could hear him yelling into the phone. “I don’t give a damn, you played me and that’s one fucking thing no one does………... do you think I give a damn?...... don’t worry because I will never ever see or talk to yo bitch ass again!!!!!!!!” I was about to walk back down the stairs until he opened his door. “Jesus, Reon you scared the shit out me.” He said holding his chest.

  “My bad but I was coming to see if you had a movie or something I could watch.”

  “Umm Yea I just ordered a movie if you wanna watch it in here.”

  “Yea that’s cool.” I really wanted to ask him was he ok because I could tell from the look on his face as well as what I heard from his phone call, that whoever it was had pissed him off. “You know as long as yall have been living here I never heard you cuss like that.” I said smirking and sitting in his computer chair.

  “Yea well when someone piss you off its no telling what comes out your mouth, but I don’t make it a habit and I’m not a big fan of swearing.” He said sitting on his bed.

  “I have it bad especially when things like tonight happen.” I said shaking my head.

  “It’s going to be fine, I already text my dad and told him I need him to help you out and he is willing to help.”

  “I know I keep saying this but thank you again.”

  “So, I take it that you heard me on the phone and that’s why you were trying to walk away when I opened the door?” He asked, and I nodded. “Well that was this guy I had been dealing with and he stood me up tonight.” When I heard him say that it was like something awoke inside of me and made force me to act on the very thing i wanted to keep a secret from him and myself for that matter.

  “That’s a weak ass nigga if you ask me and maybe you shouldn’t waste your time, if he do it now and I’m taking it as this is not the first time right?” I asked, and he nodded. “Well the old saying is fool me once shame on you but fool me twice and I drop yo stupid ass.” I said, and he smiled.

  “I don’t think that’s how that saying goes but I get it.” He said laughing.

  “Look you in Law School and you not an ugly dude so don’t settle for nothing less than your worth but who am I to talk I can’t find someone loyal to save my soul.”

  “Well stay yo behind off POF and maybe you could find a nice girl to settle down with.” He said laughing.

  “Who said it had to be a girl?” I said, and his head shot in my direction with a quickness. “Yea you heard right.” I laughed at the now awkward moment.

  “I had no idea, and it’s such a shame because I have had the biggest crush on you for years.”

  “That makes two of us, but I never did anything with a dude before but admire them, so I guess you could say it’s curiosity.” He didn’t say anything he just pulled me and the chair I was in towards him, he then leaned in and pressed his lips to mine.

  I was shocked initially but after a few seconds I began to get into it, his lips tasted like watermelon and I loved watermelon.   “We can’t go too far our first time, but I promise we will get there, but in the mean time.” He said before moving down on the bed until he was eye level with my dick. I didn’t club, and I was single since I kick my no-good ass ex to the curb, so I was content on spending all my time catching up on shows I missed and things of that nature.

 I went back to the kitchen to check on the food when my phone started ringing, I doubled back to get it and saw that it was my cousin Serenity calling.

  “Lionel, what yo boring ass doing?” She said laughing.

  “I need a favor from you…… I’m going out tonight with some friends and I need you to cover for me.”

  “I have other alibis lined up as well just if he contacts you tell him you haven’t heard from me.”

  “Who said it was a man? Can a girl go out with some friends and not be judged or accused of sleeping around.” She asked.

  “I don’t give a damn what you do as long as it doesn’t involve me, but I need to go check on my pot roast and other shit I have cooking. I will tell him that I haven’t heard from you IF he contacts me.”

  I had no intentions of getting involved in their mess, so if he called me I wasn’t even going to answer the phone, that’s better than me lying to him. I checked on the food and saw that it still had a while to go, and I was getting tired and sleepy, drinking that wine didn’t help the matter either. I turned to food off simmer and put it on low, I then went to take a nap on the couch for a few hours.

  I woke up from my nap around 9 pm because I had to pee like really bad, I went to relieve myself and walked back to check on the food that was now done. I didn’t have the strength to eat anything right now, I was just too tired to even sit up to eat anything at the moment. I picked up my phone to see I had a text from Serenity telling me that she had left Javon a note saying she was going out with some friends and to tell me thanks for covering for her. I texted her back and sat my phone back down on the end table. I laid back down and then was restless for some odd reason, not only that I was feeling kinda horny as well.   “I don’t know how that’s going to work if he calls you and you don’t pick up then he is going to call me and expect to hear a bunch of random noise in the background, and I’m not trying to get caught up in your bullshit.”

  “It’s going to be fine Lionel, I got you…… but look I just made it to the hotel, if he calls you then just call me on three-way.”

  “Whatever, don’t ask me for shit else bruh.” I said hanging up the phone pissed.

  I got up and went to the bathroom, this chick always doing something stupid and this right here took the cake. Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t do spur of the moment things, especially leaving out of town unannounced. This thing with Serenity was starting to become very uncomfortable for me, there was no way I was going to be able to help her out from two states away. She wasn’t thinking clearly when she came up with this bullshit scheme of hers. No matter how much I tried to stop thinking about it, it was really bothering the hell out of me.

  Some time had passed while I was in my thoughts and it was now after 3 am before I even realized it. I didn’t get any phone calls or text from Serenity, so I guess her plan was working. I went outside to take the trash out not thinking that it would be a problem, but I was wrong.

  “Lionel!!!” a voice said from behind me somewhere. I looked to see if I could see who was calling my name and also if I needed to take out running. “I see you still scary as ever huh?” Javon said emerging from the dark.

  “What the fuck are you lurking around my house for at this time of morning?” I said pissed.

  “Because something wasn’t adding up to the story your cousin told me……. I knew she was lying but why would you lie for her, I thought we were better than that cuz.” He said shaking his head. I started to feel bad because out of all the boyfriend's Serenity had…... Javon never disrespected me not once.

  “Look, let's go inside and talk because it’s chilly out here and I don’t want my neighbors in my business.” I said walking towards the door with him behind me.

  “That is what she texted me a few minutes ago……. I believe it said, ‘I don’t know why I came with Lionel gay ass to this dumbass club and him dancing on all these niggas, I could have had more fun with you at home.’ Or did it not say that.” He asked but I was too in shock to even respond to him, reading the messages she sent him pissed me off to the max and I couldn’t wait to deal with her bitch ass.

  “I can’t believe that nasty trifling low down hoe would say some stupid shit like that just to cover her ass, everybody knows I don’t dance on random niggas in the club.”

  “For what it’s worth I believe you because her dumbass posted a pic on her Instagram after that with her and a few people in the club, then I went to her homegirl page and saw her hugged up with some nigga.”

  “That whore said he worked all night and he wasn’t coming but look let me finish telling you what happened……. The chick told Alton he must be fucking with you from the way he was acting and that’s when things went real crazy in there. Jaye when I tell you this nigga went so hard on this chick that he is actually getting wrote up now by Doris for making threats to the girl.”

  “Who told you about that? never mind don’t even tell me, but you are more than welcome to come.”

  “I guess but let me go do some negotiating with Doris about your lil boyfriend……” She said laughing. “I will see you later.”

Ron and Alton stayed back and helped with the clean up which I’m grateful for because I was not trying to do all this shit by myself.   “I told you I was going to get yo ass back for that lil stunt the other night.” He said laughing.

  “You are such a dick, move so we can finish this shit.” I said giving him an elbow to the side.

  “Right while yall wanna run around like a bunch of fools leaving me to do all this shit.” Alton said with a mean look on his face.

I was feeling to good to even care at that point because I didn’t see the point or reason of him acting like that. I was laying in my bed trying to go to sleep when he called my phone.

  “Aww did I hurt your lil friend…... well if you would have go off me then you wouldn’t have had that happen but come get your food before I chop your balls off.” I said laughing but I could still feel his dick in my hand and that made me smile harder.

  “Dude, I can’t walk right now I think you broke it.” He said, and I had to laugh at how stupid he sounded. I almost said something crazy like ‘you want me to check and see’ but I had to refrain from saying it, so I went into the kitchen and started fixing his food.

  “Your food ready jackass.” I yelled out when I was done. he was really putting on a show because he walked into the kitchen limping like he was really hurt. “Oh, stop it, it wasn’t that serious for you to be acting like this.” I said shoving him.

  “Yes, it is, you broke my dick with yo punk ass.” He said laughing and then charging over to me picking me up.

  “That’s what got you in pain last time…… put me down before this time I cripple yo ass for real.” I said laughing. He slowly put me down and I slapped him in the chest Ric Flair style. “Asshole.”

  “You better stop hitting on me before I have yo ass in here calling for mercy.” He said cracking his knuckles.

  “Run up then.” I said looking at him and he did but before he could get to me I reached down and grabbed his dick again. I was going to take every chance I got to feel on it. He paused and leaned over into me while yelling ‘Ahh and ok, stop fuck.

  “You not playing fair…. If I didn’t know any better, I would swear you just trying to rub on my dick.” He said holding his dick.

  “Did it seem that way because from my vantage point I was trying to hurt yo stupid looking ass.” I said laughing. He didn’t get a chance to reply because my phone started ringing and I went to go get it.

  “Hey what you up to?” Alton asked when I answered the phone.

  “Nothing much, talking and fixing some food for Ron and His girlfriend.” I said, and I could hear the deep breath he took.

  “So, you talk to him before I hear from you all day, that’s shit so crazy bruh but ok cool I will just holler at you later.” He said hanging up the phone.

  “I swear that dude has serious issues, he thinks that we go together or fucking.” I said laughing.

  “Tell ya lil boyfriend that IF I was fucking you then you probably would be too sprung to even give his ass a thought.” Ron said laughing.

  “Boy please, from what I know you the one pussy whooped so miss me with all that bullshit about being sprung. But he just puts me in a terrible headspace with all the jealousy shit and we haven’t even discussed if we were in a relationship or not.”

  “Don’t you think that’s something you should figure out before things get to complicated?”

  “Yea but I’ve already made up my mind tho Ron, I can’t be another controlling and overly jealous ass nigga again. I’ve been down that road and I promised myself that I would never do it again.”

  “Yea I feel ya, but figure shit out and cut his ass loose and as far as me being pussy whooped goes…… you got me fucked up, you felt how much dick I got, I could never be pussy whooped.” He said shoving me.

  “Whatever, get your food and get out before she comes over here and make you eat those words you just spoke.” I said laughing.

  Things between Alton and I had to come to a stop and I made the decision to bring to that stop. I told him that I can’t be with someone who didn’t understand my friendship with Ron or being that jealous over something that’s not there. Some jealously is cute but the aggressively jealousy scares me because of the things I went thru with that before. Eventually we ended things, but we still remained cordial while we were working, and he even came over to the house when I had lil get togethers. We didn’t talk much about what transpired between us unless it was at the right moment. I felt bad for the way it ended but it was something I had to do for the both of us. At that point in my life I could afford to go back down a dark path in another relationship.

I was working for this inventory company for a few months when I was promoted to inventory manager. I was assigned to certain stores and pretty much had my team together when they decided to hire a bunch of people. The downside to having new people on my team was the pace slowed down due to me training them. No matter in what company you may work for when you get promoted there are going to be haters and people just downright salty because they didn’t get the position. Either way, I was happy but my love life sucked monkey balls, I couldn’t find a man to save my life. I take part to blame in that because of the insecurities that I dealt with at the time.

  I got up for work this particular morning feeling awful, I went out the night before, got in at around 2:30 am and had to get up at 6 am for work. (Wasn’t one of my best choices.) When I made it to the pick-up spot my team was looking defeated as well, so I knew this was going to be a long day. I went and got all the equipment together and loaded it into one of the vans to leave. The new people showed up shortly afterward and we were ready to hit the road. I had this one friend Ron (straight guy) that I always shot the shit with every day. He would always seem to make the day easy for me by doing stupid shit that just hyped up all of us.

  We made to the job site and began working, I had about 5 out of the 8 new people that no matter what I did, they just couldn’t seem to catch on to add and subtract. In the ones that I was going to definitely keep, there was this one guy named Alton, he was brown skin, had dreads, a deep voice, and a gorgeous smile. He was the most impressive, not just because he was sexy but because he actually took direction well. Once I showed him what to do, it was only a few times he came to me for something after that.

  On our lunch break, I was eating at a nearby food joint with my homie Ron when Alton and a few other people walked in. I was so engulfed in Alton’s looks and the way he walked that I was totally ignoring Ron.

  “Nigga, did you hear me?” He said throwing a fry at me.

  “No, my bad what did you say?” I said embarrassed.

  “I said that since we off tomorrow we should go to the Daquiri Café and get fucked up.”

  “I don’t know about that, I had enough to drink last night to last me the rest of the year.” I said laughing.

  “Punk ass, come on man join ya boy and live a little.” He said pleading, and after a lil back and forth I finally agreed. He was right tho, he would ask me to go out with him and his girl all the time, but I always found an excuse not to go.

  “Aye, can I join yall?” Alton said approaching us with his food on his tray.

  “Sure,” I said looking at the food on his tray. “You sure you can eat all that before it’s time to go back?”

  “Probably but if I can’t then I will just pack this shit up and take it home.” He said after sitting down, we all shared a laugh together and spent the rest of our break getting to know our new team member.

  We finally got thru the day, to say I was beyond tired was an understatement. I already sent a van full of people home and the only people left was the audit team. We made sure all the counts were accounted for as well as correct any mistakes that were made. This process could take anywhere from 30 mins to 4 hours depending on the corrections that needed to be made. Ron and Alton stayed back to help with this process and that made it easier for me because they kept me laughing.

  “So, Alton since you apart of our team now, and since we all have the same schedule…... I was thinking that you should join Jaye and me at the Daquiri Café tonight for some drinks and bitches.” Ron said.

  “I don’t know about the bitches’ part because as you and I both know yo girl will kick both of us in the dick if she finds out.” I said laughing.

  “I’m game, I wasn’t doing shit tonight anyway.” Alton said. I wasn’t too sure about this because even though Ron knew I was gay, I didn’t like to hang around new people who didn’t know about my lifestyle. That could turn out really bad or just make it awkward while working.

  “Cool, they have two we can choose from but since Jaye is technically our boss I vote he choose which one we go to,” Ron said smirking.

  “I can’t fucking stand you and I’m not your boss, I’m only your supervisor while we work in the stores, I can’t fire or hire nobody just write you up and make a recommendation for your termination that’s it.” I said laughing.

  “Stop lying nigga, I looked at your computer earlier and I saw that you got rid of some of the people that came today.”

  “Shut up, that’s private information and while in training and since I’m still the lead trainer I do get to say who stays and who goes but I had to get rid of them because they just…… I don’t know maybe someone else can help them, but I can’t anymore.”

  “So, was I on that list of people? I mean just keep it real.” Alton said with a nervous look on his face and I smirked.

  “No, you weren’t if that was the case you wouldn’t be here right now…… enough of all this bullshit talk I need yall to go look for these sections that haven’t come in yet.” I said hanging them the list of things I needed to be checked.

  After making it home I was beyond tired, all I wanted to do was lay down in my bed and sleep until the following week. That was short lived because just when the sleep was getting good my phone started ringing. I grabbed it to see it was my boos calling.

  “Hey, I need some information about the people you switched and the ones you wanna keep.” She said after I picked up the phone.

  “The ones I wanna keep had absolutely no problem catching on to the work but the other five were just horrible at taking direction. I didn’t suggest that they should be fired I just wanted them to go to Bobbi or Angie team because they work in smaller stores and they can focus more on them than I could.”

  “Ok, we can do that but just for future references…... don’t involve me in your crap, you have every right to assign whomever you want to any team if you feel like they would be an asset to that team. Oh, and you did an amazing job today, I got nothing but good reports from the district manager.”

  “Tell me something new but I will talk to you later I have some things to take care of.”

  “Ok see you on Monday.” She said hanging up the phone. I looked at the time and realized that it was almost time to go meet up with Ron and Alton down the street at the Daquiri Café. I went took a shower and pulled out some clothes, no sooner than I got dressed Ron called my phone.

  “Damn can I put some draws on before you get to rushing me out the house?” I said laughing.

  “Nigga you should have been had yo shit on……. I’m outside so bring yo ass and open the door.” He said hanging up, I threw on some socks and went to open the door before I had to kick his ass. “You never on time for nothing nigga, you were late for work this morning, and now you just now getting dressed.”

  “If you going to be bitching all night then you can beat ya feet motherfucker.” I said walking back to my room, while walking I got hit in the back with a pillow off the couch. “You better stop before I whoop yo ass and put my shit back in the right spot too.”

  I walked into my room tempted to just say fuck it and call it a night, but I made a promise and I was going to keep it. I walked out the room to find that this nigga took all my pillows off my couch and tossed them on the floor. This nigga always doing stupid shit when he come over here, like the last time he came over here he put dish soap in my fish tank which killed all my damn fish. He did buy me some more but it’s stupid shit like that that works my nerves with him. I didn’t say nothing to him, I just walked into the kitchen and filled up a pot with hot water and walked back into the living room.

  “Yo you better not throw that shit on me.” He said holding up one of the pillows.

  “You got 30 seconds to fix my couch you jackass.” I said still holding the pot, he quickly put all the pillows back on my couch and I started laughing.

  “You never play fair tho Jaye, why would you wanna throw hot ass water on me before we go out that shit foul man.” He said laughing.

  “Because you always doing stupid shit, that’s why I’ma stop you from coming over here.” I said walking to the door.

  “Whatever let’s go that nigga probably already waiting on us.”

  “Ok but you driving because I’m still tired.”

  We made our way to the Daquiri Café in no time at all because as I said earlier it was literally down the street from my house. When we walked in I spotted Alton sitting at the bar, I thought he was sexy earlier but now that I see him in regular clothes…… this nigga is drop dead gorgeous. I had no idea how I was going to get thru this evening without staring at him the whole night. We walked up to the bar where he was sitting and sat down, Alton turned his head and looked in our direction.

  “About time yall showed up, I thought yall flaked out on me.” He said laughing.

  “No, but there is something you should know about our boss here……. His ass always late to everything. I got over to his house and his ass wasn’t even dressed yet.” Ron said laughing.

  “Well unlike you two bastards I had more work to do when I got home and plus I was still tired from last night. Yall lucky I’m even here right now.” I said flagging down the bartender. We all placed our order and sat there just talking like we had been friends for ever.

  “So how long you been doing Inventory?” Alton asked me.

  “For about a year now, it wasn’t my first choice but when I was offered the job, they gave me an offer that I couldn’t refuse.” I said sipping from my cup. “Overall, it’s been good, but I don’t think I wanna make a career out of it like Doris and Linda, but it pays the bills and leave me with extra in my pocket.”

  “Cool, this is new to me I’m used to working fast food or doing lil odd jobs from temp services.”

  “You have great work ethics, unlike some people I know.” I said looking at Ron.

  “Aye fuck you nigga I’m the best person you have on your team so miss me with the bullshit or I’ma have to beat yo ass.”

  “The only thing you can beat is yo meat nigga, don’t start your bullshit.” I said and we all bust out laughing.

  “How long yall been cool? It seems like yall brothers or something.” Alton asked and the way he said ‘something’ didn’t sit right with me but I wasn’t going to think on it too much.

  “Before my promotion we worked a few jobs together, he has been a thorn in my side ever since.”

  “Yea right nigga, but Jaye is a down right cool as dude, he will do whatever he can to help anyone just as long as they trying to do shit for themselves.”

  “That’s what’s up, but let’s go get a game of pool in and get this shit crunk.”

  We played pool, got some food, had more drinks than I wanted to have, and had a damn good time just shooting the shit. The night was going good until Ron got a call from his girl and what ever they talked about had him in a sour mood for a bit.

  “What’s going on Ron?” I asked him.

  “She pissed off at me because in her words she never gets to see me until I’m horny or whenever I make time but that’s a lie because I was with her before I came to get you and she knew that we were hanging tonight.”

  “Ok well let’s cut this night short and you go fix things with your girl because I don’t have time for her kicking both our ass.”

  “Man fuck that, she will be just fine, I’m not about to keep catering to her bullshit every time she gets in one her moods.” He said ordering another round of drinks.

  “You not gone learn until that girl murder yo ass but its your shot.” I said picking up my pool cue.

  The night went on and we cut the drinks off because Alton looked drunk as hell and Ron was getting there. I had an extra room at my house, but I wasn’t to sure about letting either one of them sleep over. Ron wasn’t going to stay any way if push came to shove, he was going to call his girl to come get him and I take his car home, but Alton I knew nothing about so that was a definite no on his part.

  “If this bitch sends me one more text, I’ma go over there and throw her phone in the middle of the street.” Ron said showing me all the text messages between him and her. I scrolled up reading the messages, but I went to far up and saw some pictures they sent each other. Let’s just say I see why she so paranoid because Ron had some serious meat down there.

  “Umm…... just drop me off at the house and you go be with your girl bruh.” I said reluctantly giving him his phone back.

  “I’m not ready to go and if you don’t wanna leave right now I can bring you home and let this nigga go get his shit together.” Alton said catching me off guard.

  “Jaye don’t like people knowing where he stays so we can just do this some other time.” Ron said drinking the last of his drink.

  “Nah it’s cool bruh, you go take care of that and call me later.” I said dapping him up.

  Ron left us at the Café while he went to go make sure his girl was good, no matter what I did I couldn’t shake the image of his dick out my head. It was the prettiest dick I had seen in a very long time, I know I shouldn’t have kept thinking about it, but I couldn’t help it.

  “You ready to go.” Alton said bringing me out of my thoughts.

  “Umm yea…... but can you drive because I don’t wanna spend the rest of my night laid up in a hospital room.” I said laughing.

  “Yea I got you, I aint that messed up.” He said laughing.

  We left out and made it to my house in one piece, I thought about it and there was no way I was going to let this dude drive home drunk. I told him that he could crash on the couch and leave in the morning when he woke up. I went into my room to get him an extra cover and some shorts to sleep in, when I went back into the living room this nigga had kicked off his shoes and was laying on the couch watching tv.

  “I got you a cover and some shorts to sleep in, there is food and drinks in the fridge as well, just don’t touch my cokes.” I said placing the stuff on the couch.

  “Or you can go get comfortable as well and pour us some more drinks, I know you got liquor in here.” He said smirking, against my better judgement I went and threw on some night clothes and walked back into the living room. He had changed into the shorts I gave him, but he didn’t have a shirt on, his body was on point and I was stuck in one spot staring at him. “What you looking at nigga?” he said laughing, I hung my down in embarrassment and walked into the kitchen. I poured us some drinks and walked in the living room.

  “Umm you need a shirt to put on?” I asked after handing him his drink.

  “Nah, I don’t like sleeping in shirts I feel like I’m being suffocated.” He said laughing.

  We started drinking and watching tv for a while, I looked at the time and it was now 3 in the morning. I stood up and staggered a lil bit from the drinks I consumed. I shook off the feelings, looked at his body one last time and started to walk to my room before he stopped me.

  “If you wanna look you don’t have sneak just look.” He said smiling. I was taken back by his comment, it caught me off guard to the point where I ran right into the wall.

  “You aint all that nigga but goodnight I’m going to bed.”

  “I guess weakling.” He said laughing.

  “Unlike you, I didn’t get much rest last night or when I got off so excuse me if I’m tired, now go to bed before I punch you in the face.” I said laughing.

  “Don’t get fucked up, but I hear ya take yo tired ass to bed.” I didn’t bother saying nothing back I just went to my room and laid across my bed.

  The thoughts of Ron’s dick flashed back to my mind as well as the comment that Alton made. Maybe I was drunk and overthinking things, but it sounded like he was flirting with me. the more I thought about it the more I had to find out what he meant by that comment. I got up and walked back into the living room where he was still finishing off the last of his drink.

  “What did you mean by the comment you made a few minutes ago?” I asked him standing in the door way.

  “Man, what yo drunk ass talking about?” He said laughing.

  “About me staring at your body.”

  “Oh, I meant that I noticed you staring at me a few times but when you saw me you tried to act like you wasn’t, so I said that if you wanted to look at me then just do it.” He said still laughing.

  “Whatever, I look at what I want and who I want so what’s it to you?”

  “It’s nothing to me, but I thought you was going to bed?”

  “I am why you wanna join me?” I said and almost slapped the hell out myself for saying that shit.

  “You probably would like that wouldn’t you?” He said laughing.

  “Whatever, goodnight Alton.” I said walking back to my room.

  I turned on my tv and laid under the covers, I couldn’t believe that I actually said that stupid shit to this dude. He didn’t go off on me but still I never said nothing like that to a straight guy before so that alone made me feel dumb as hell. I closed my eyes and began to fall asleep, a few seconds afterwards I heard my door open. When I opened my eyes, Alton was walking towards me, he didn’t say anything, he just walked to my bed and climbed in. before I could ask him what the hell he was doing he pressed his lips to mine and all rationality went out the window. Was this really happening? What am I thinking right now? How would this affect us at work? All these things went thru my mind, but my body had another mind of it’s on.

This was the weekend that Myron was coming into town with his folks and to say I was excited was an understatement. We have been going strong for over a year now, things were good (except for the usual couple arguments). Was I tired of the long distant relationship we had……? No, I wasn’t because it worked out for the best. He would be too far away for anyone to suspect anything and I was actually more focused on school at times. Whenever he would come down, that would be our time to spend together, one month he actually stayed a week instead of a weekend.

  I got out of school early because of some stupid ass teacher meeting that was taking place. When I got off the bus, I was in the middle of the road talking to my homegirl when this car sped up and almost clipped us. I knew this car to well, the car that almost hit us was my pastor’s, Myron would use that car when they were in town. I looked at him and smiled even though I was mad at him.

  “Sup Jay……Sup Ariel?” He said showing his teeth.

  “You almost hit us, and you got the nerve to wanna smile in our face……. we should jump yo ass nigga.” Ariel said frowning.

  “Yea right, yall ain't ready for that kinda trouble.” He said laughing, me and Ariel said our goodbyes to each other and I got in the car with Myron. “I missed you so much baby.”

  “I missed you too bighead.” I said kissing him.

  “Pops home?”

  “Nah he just went to work, and my sister is with my mom this weekend.” I said smiling.

  “Good, because I have been dying for some of you and I got to have it now.” He said licking his lips.

  “Well, what you waiting on then.” I said laughing.

  We made it inside and of course there was no food on the stove and had stuff everywhere, this is the kind of shit my sister does before she leaves. She would trash the damn house and leave and then I have to clean it up before my dad got home. Myron was acting like he couldn’t wait for me to clean up, he dragged me into my room and started pulling my clothes off. I couldn’t help but smile because I knew this was going to be a long day, but I was more than willing to go thru the journey.

  Later that night, we went to a party on campus, we had to sneak off and go because my dad probably would have killed us if he found out. We partied the whole time we were there, I don’t know about Myron, but I enjoyed myself so much. We were in the car headed back to my house when I found out a side to Myron that I never knew.

  “Why the fuck was you dancing with all those people at that lame ass party Jarvis?” He asked while he was driving.

  “You were dancing to Myron, so don’t even go there, and it was your idea to go to the party.” I said looking at him. We turned to get onto the on-ramp of the interstate and I knew we were about to argue when I saw his lips twitch.

  “That’s some disrespectful shit…… you up there dancing with random people while yo boyfriend in the same room.”

  “Myron, you were watching me the whole time and I never danced on any dudes just some girls, or would you have rather I did it behind your back?” I said getting irritated by this conversation.

  “How do I know you ain't doing shit behind my back? I’m not here but once a month, you could be doing anything.”

  “I guess I could say the same about you and where is this coming from because you know me, and you know I would never do any shit like that to you.”

  “I bet, but my boys told me not to trust someone who is that far away, I live in Chicago and you live in Louisiana.”

  “So, after us being together for over a year now you wanna question my loyalty because of what yo punk ass friends had to say? Man, just shut the fuck up talking to me, because you sound really crazy right now.” I said looking him, the next thing that happened caught me completely off guard. He raised his hand and smack the hell out me in my fucking mouth. I was in a state of shock, hurt, anger, and embarrassment, I didn’t know should I hit his ass back and risk him running off the road or should I just wait until I got home.

  I was still in a state of shock by the time I got home, I couldn’t believe this nigga put his hands on me. I got out the car and went inside saying nothing to him, I got undressed and took a shower. I couldn’t tell you how many times I cried that night because I would never have thought that Myron would do something like that.

  The next day, I was laying in my bed staring at the ceiling when my dad walked in my room. I knew it was him because of that stinky ass cologne he always wore.

  “I’m going to Arizona next month and I wanted to know if you wanted to go with me since your sister said she was going with your mom.” He said looking at me.

  “Nah, you can go and spend time with your wife, I will stay here and make sure the house good.”

  “You alright?”

  “Yea I’m good, just got a headache.”

  “Ok well take something for it and rest, oh and Myron just pulled up.”

  “Tell him I’m not here, I don’t really feel like being bothered.”

  “Ok, well I’m headed out to work, call me if you need something.” He said leaving out my room.

  I laid in the bed thinking about everything and I couldn’t stop the tears from falling. He had the nerve to show up here after putting his fucking hands on me. I admit yea I still love him and yea I didn’t officially break up with him but right now I didn’t want to see him. I got up and went into the bathroom before going to the kitchen, the house was empty and that just the way I needed it right now. That didn’t last too long because while walking back to my room there was a knock on the door. Something in me was telling me not to open that door but I opened it anyway. Yea I shouldn’t have opened this door because Myron was standing there, eyes puffy, and staring a hole in my face.

  “I’ve been calling you all night Jarvis, I’m sorry baby I promise, I don’t know what came over me and I let them niggas get in my head.” He said trying to touch me, but I backed away from him.

  “Why are you here? Didn’t my dad tell you I was gone.” I said standing in the doorway.

  “Yea he did but I know you and I know you were home because your window is open.”

  “Yea, well I don’t have nothing to say to you so if you don’t mind……. Leave so I can be alone please.”

  “No please just talk to me please.” He said coming in the house.

  “Myron you put your fucking hands on me, I have nothing else to say to you. My own dad doesn’t fucking hit me and if you think I’m going to let that shit go then you must be out of your mind.”

  “Jarvis, I said I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking baby like honestly.”

  “I heard you when you said you were sorry but that doesn’t change the fact that you hit me.”

  “What else you want me to say, you want me to get on my knees and beg for your forgiveness?”

  “No, I don’t want you to do anything, I just want you to get out.” He looked at me and the next thing I knew he charged me and hit me again. “Fuck man, you always got a smart-ass mouth, acting like a real bitch right now.” I don’t know what came over me but when I heard the word bitch something clicked in me.

  I can’t tell you how long we were in there fighting, all I know is that I was on top of him throwing punch after punch. By the time we finished, we both had busted lips, scratch marks on our body, and bad headaches. When he left I knew in my heart that I would never see him again even if I wanted to. As fate would have it, I wasn’t done with him, for some strange and unknown reason I let him sweet talk me into staying with him.

  The relationship between Myron and I went on for over a year after our first fight. We would alternate between fighting and loving each other, sometimes we would only take a break from fighting to have sex and went back to fighting again. My dad was asking me questions about us fighting ‘people’ every time we got together but little did he know we wasn’t fighting people we were fighting each other. He came down one weekend a month and of the 3 days he was down here we would get into it 2 of the 3 days.

  After our second year together, the whole abusive shit was taken a toll on me. With us being together for that long, you would think that I would have walked away by now, but I was still holding on to hope. Hope that things would go back to when we were just friends and things were simple. Here I am in this abusive relationship with my very first boyfriend and I can’t seem to find a way out of it.

  I was in the kitchen cooking one day when he called my phone, I ignored the first call, but he called again. I knew I was asking for a fight by not answering the call, but the good news was that I still had a week to prepare for it or, so I thought. I answered the second call with attitude in my voice.

  “I’m trying to cook Myron what do you want?”

  “Why you talking to me like that? Damn baby I thought we were over all that bullshit and we were going to try and make everything work.” He asked, and I rolled my eyes.

  “Did we? Or did you say you was cutting all the bullshit and did you not just call me all kinda scandalous hoes and bitches and how ugly I am and how I should be lucky to have someone like you? Nigga miss me with all that make it work shit.” I said hanging up the phone, I walked to my room and put my phone on the charger. When I walked back into the kitchen, the door swung open and Myron was standing there with his face all frowned up. “Why are you just showing up and busting into my dad’s house like you live here and what are you doing here this early, I wasn’t expecting our next fight until next week.” I said walking further into the kitchen.

  “I came early, but what was that bullshit you were talking on the phone and why the fuck did you hang up in my face?” He said walking towards me.

  “Myron, look I am not trying to fight with you right now, I need to finish cooking.” I said with my back turned, I was in the middle of chopping an onion, but he wasn’t done.

  “Jarvis, we need to talk about this and talk about it now.” He said with anger in his voice.

  “I don’t have to listen to you, you are not my daddy and after today you may not even be my piece of shit ass man, so we can talk when I’m done.” He was quiet for a second and then I heard footsteps running towards me. I turned around just in time to get football tackled into the edge of the counter. The pain shot thru my back like crazy, I can’t even explain how bad it hurt.

   I tried to block out the pain as much as I could, I grabbed him by his shirt and started punching the shit out him. Some kind of way he maneuvered around me and put me in a choke hold and I could feel the very life of me leaving my body. I had to think of a way to get out this hold because my punches weren’t doing it. I was close enough to the counter where I was chopping the onion and grabbed the knife. I swung the knife twice trying to stab his ass, but he dodged them, he wasn’t choking me as hard as he was before, and I was able to move my head more. I took the knife and put it in his shoulder blade and pushed down as far as I could. It was a pairing knife so it only when in about half an inch before he pushed me off and ran out the door.

  I was still in the kitchen trying to catch my breath, once that was done, I began to clean up the trail of blood that Myron left on his way out the door. When that was done I clean up the kitchen, but my back was in serious pain. I went to lay across the bed and try to get some relief for my back but even that wasn’t helping. My phone started ringing and when I reached to get it I heard something pop in my back and that shit damn near brought me to my knees. I managed to get the phone to see it was Myron calling.

  “Jarvis, I need to go to hospital, I’m about to pass out.”

  “Not my problem, you should have left when I asked you too.”

  “Jarvis please.” He said damn near begging, then something clicked, if I brought him to the hospital then I could be there to hear what he said happened to him.

  “Ok fine, I’m coming out now.” I said struggling to get out the bed.

  We made it to the hospital and they brought us straight to the back, I was sitting here nervous because I could possibly be going to jail. He wasn’t saying much, probably because of the meds they put him on. He would look at me from time to time and just turn his head, I didn’t feel bad one bit about anything because it was either him or me.

  “Myron, we can’t keep this up, I think it’s best if we both just walk away now before one of us end up dead.” I said sitting on side of the bed.

  “You stab me and then you wanna break up with me at the same time? I swear if you break up with me then I’m telling those doctors and those cops what really happened.” He said calling my bluff.

  “Well if you do then you do, but as far as I’m concerned we both have bruises and wounds on us so you in for a fight but this time it’s with courts involved. Myron, I love you with everything in me, but I just can be with you anymore.”

  “If you love me then why are you breaking up with me, I promise on my life that I’m not going to be with the bullshit no more and I promise that no matter what I will never put my hands on your no more unless we are having sex.” He said pleading his case, in normal circumstances it would have worked but I’m looking at the bigger picture.

  “I hear ya and under normal circumstances I would have considered it but look at us……. You are laying up in a hospital bed with a stab wound and I’m pretty sure my back is fucked up. So, no I can’t continue this, maybe we can restore our friendship but even that’s questionable at the moment.”

  “Ok fine have your way, I hope you have fun in jail……… Nurse!!!!!” He yelled out, but before he could finish, I took my finger and put it in the knife wound causing him to scream out in pain.

  “Walk away with some dignity Myron, I’m not playing this game with you anymore, just let it die and if you have any ounce of decency……... you would let this relationship go.” I said removing my finger out the hole.

  “How am I supposed to just leave or let it go like that when for the last 2 years you have been my life.”

  “And I have been the person you have hit repeatedly on several occasions, Myron this relationship is toxic and we both don’t need that, what if I promise to not mention any of this to anyone and to have sex with you before you leave tomorrow. Can you just let this go?”

  “I guess Jarvis but that’s not what I want, I want, and I need you in my life and if you promise to not just turn your back on me then I would let the relationship go.” He said with tears streaming down his face.

  “Deal, but I need to go get my back looked at and you promised me that everything remains with us, so I expect you to be a man of your word.”

  “I promise, I will come check on you whenever I’m done here.”

  We ended up spending the night in the hospital, he had to go thru a blood transfusion and I had to see a bone and joint doctor. I had some deeply bruised tissue and some torn ligaments in my back, I still deal with that to this day. Myron and I split ways and didn’t each other for a few years after our last encounter, but we did talk every once in a while. I would always remember the moments we shared good and bad. In a lot of ways Myron taught me the ins and outs of being in a relationship. Did I expect my first relationship with a guy to turn out to be an abusive relationship…… hell no. The last time I talked to him, he told me that he had gotten married and have some beautiful kids with his wife and I couldn’t be any happier for him. That’s was horrible to go thru at such a young age and I hope no one ever have to experience that ever in their life.

I woke up in a good mood considering the fact that my dad and I had an argument the previous night. The reason why I was in such a good mood is because this was going to be the first day of our annual church revival. This was the biggest one of the year, I always looked forward to this one over the rest because I always made new friends and reconnected with old ones. That was a big deal for me because I rarely made friends if ever. Then I was in a good mood because I got to see Myron, my longtime friend, he and I would always get into crazy stuff when we got together. The good thing about it was that my dad and his parents were to busy with church stuff to ever know all the drama we caused with other people. My dad ran the transportation service for our church and his dad was my pastor’s brother.

 I did my morning routine and went into the kitchen where my dad was sitting on the couch on his phone. I looked at him and he looked at me but neither of us said anything to each other. I went and got a soda out the fridge and was walking back to my room when he finally stopped me.

“I have to go pick up a group of people from the airport…… you wanna ride?” He said getting up.

 “I guess so, I mean you can use a hand with all they luggage and plus some of them tip good.”

 “It’s not about the tips son.” He said shaking his head.

 “It is for me but let me go throw on some clothes.” I walked back down the hall to my room and pulled out something to where.

 After spending the day out with my dad and not arguing like we normally do, I was glad to be back home. If I had to see one more suitcase or hypocritical ass church person I was going to lose my mind. I laid across my bed texting my girlfriend when I got a call from a out of state number. I didn’t pick up the phone because I hate answering unknown numbers. The next call I got was from my girlfriend at the time, Emily, I didn’t feel like dealing with her shit but if I didn’t answer she would just call me until I did.

 “What took you so long to answer the phone Jarvis? Yo lil bitch over there or something?” She yelled into the phone.

 “Man, you always on some bullshit bruh, why can’t you ever act lady like and not some hood rat?” I said heated.

 “WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU CALLING A HOOTRAT MOTHERFUCKER?”

 “YO PUNK ASS, A NIGGA GET TIRED OF HEARING ALL THAT BULLSHIT WHEN YOU CALL, I’MA PUT YO ASS ON BLOCK.” I said hanging up the phone.

 I put my phone on charge and walked into the kitchen, I got a soda out the fridge and walked back to my room. I looked around at all the clothes I had scattered all over the place, I took a sip from my drink and started picking up stuff.

 It took me over an hour to get my room spotless, I knew my dad would be proud of that because he was always fussing about me having a junky room. I could see if I had plates and trash in here, but it was mostly clothes and shoes. My phone went off again and I knew from the ringtone it was Emily again.

 “I’m sorry but you know how I get when I don’t hear from you Jarvis.” She said after I answered the phone.

 “I hear ya.” I really wasn’t trying to hear none of the same lies and bullshit she always told me when she did some stupid shit. I decided to test the limits of her lying because it was something that had been on my mind for a while now. “So, who is Chuck?” I asked sitting on my bed.

 “I don’t know anyone name Chuck, who is that?”

 “Don’t play dumb Em, I know about your lil friendship between yall.”

 “You tripping I don’t have a friend named Chuck or anybody else that you wanna put on me.” She said, and I laughed.

 “I hear ya but look I gotta get ready to go with my dad to the airport, but we going to finish this conversation.”

 “There aint nothing to finish so stop trying to find something that aint there.” She said hanging up, I laughed again because little do she know I have picture and voice clips as back up, plus I know where their next date going to be at. No sooner than I stood up my dad walked in the house, I heard him on the phone. I hated the way my dad talked on the phone because nothing he ever said made sense to me. I chose to ignore his conversation, I was on my way out the door to go chill with some of my home girls across the street when my dad stopped me.

 “Hey, Myron and his folks just got down here, I know what yall asses be up to and I’m telling you this now…… don’t be starting shit. If I hear that yall been causing trouble, then I’m kicking both yall asses.” He said walking back into his room.

 “Can I use the car instead of riding in that van with all those people you gotta give rides to?” I asked him.

 “As long as you come to the church for at least an hour then yeah if not then you are riding with me.” He said laying across his bed.

 “Ok deal.” I said grabbing the keys to his car, I was going to take full advantage of this because usually during a revival week my dad never let me use his car.

 I sat in church bored out of my mind, I don’t know why during revival everybody wanted to talk. I looked around the room at all the different people that showed up until I spotted Myron walking thru the door. We locked eyes and gave each other a head nod, it was good to see him show up because now I had somebody to talk to. He walked over to me and I moved to the next seat, we dapped each other up.

 “You just don’t know how bored I was before I saw yo ugly ass.” I said laughing.

 “Nigga please, you know I’m far from ugly, but I only came tonight to chew you out for not answering the phone.”

 “You aint call me fool.” I said pulling out my phone.

 “Yeah I did that’s my new number right there stupid.” He said pointing to the unknown number that called me earlier.

 “Well you know how I am with unknown numbers, but I heard they supposed to be bowling tomorrow you going?”

 “Yea I might roll thru since my folks going to be tied up all day but let’s get out of here and cause trouble.” He said getting up, I got up and we both walked out the door running right into my dad.

 “One thing Jarvis and I’m keeping my word, and Myron you dad wants to see you.” My dad said smacking him in the head.

 “I’m going to probably go pick up Myron tomorrow to go to the bowling alley with the other people tomorrow if you cool with it.”

 “I don’t know how that’s possible when they all staying with Pastor Mark while they here.” My dad said standing by the wall.

 “I know but they are meeting up at the church, right?” I asked, and he nodded. “Well I can just get him from there.”

 “Alright, but don’t yall be out all night, you know how they are about they kids, and don’t be on any b.s. either because I don’t have bail money either.” I shook my head and walked away. By the time I made my way out the building, Myron had made it outside as well.

 “What took yo punk ass so long?” He said smiling.

 “Nigga fuck you, but I heard they got party on campus you wanna roll up or we can go to the skating ring and trip some kids.” I said getting in the car, he got in the car with me and looked at me.

 “Nigga you aint shit but a bully……. But yea let’s go skating because I don’t feel like being around all them people or have to go thru that long as process of getting back to the dorms.”

 “Yea, that’s true, but we got a stop to make first, I wanna check on something right quick.” I said smirking and pulling off.

 I pulled up to this soul food spot about 30 minutes away from where the revival was being held. Myron was talking but I was focused on the task at hand, I was here for a purpose and to hopefully find some answers on some things. I parked the car and was trying to find who I was looking for thru the open windows the restaurant had. That’s when I got the shock of my life…… I saw Emily sitting at the table with this dude just laughing and smiling.

 “Yo what we doing here?” Myron asked after sitting there playing on his phone for a while.

 “Checking some shit out……. You see that light skin chick sitting right there.” I said pointing to where Emily was sitting, and he nodded. “Well that is my girl and that nigga she in there with is the nigga she been seeing behind my back.”

 “Well let’s go check that shit nigga what you waiting on?” He said cracking his knuckles.

 “I came here to get the proof I needed not to start shit.”

 “You sound like a straight bitch right now……… how you knew where she was anyway?”

 “Her sister and her Brother told me, they been keeping me informed on what has been going on behind my back.”

 “Damn you smashing the sister too nigga you wild as fuck.” He said laughing, I looked at him like he had lost his mind.

 “Nigga no I’m not smashing the sister, she just cool people and I fucks with her and her bro.”

 “Whatever, if you not bout to go smash this nigga face in then let’s roll out because I kinda do wanna skate.” Just when we were about to pull off…… I looked up and saw Emily and her side dude walking out the building. I looked at Myron and it seemed like he knew just what I was thinking, we both got out the car and made a b-line towards them.

 “So, Em, this the nigga you claim you don’t know huh?” I said still walking towards her.

 “WHAT THE FUCK……. ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME JARVIS?”

 “NAH I’M NOT FOLLOWING YOU THAT WOULD TAKE UP TOO MUCH TIME, UNLIKE YOU I KNOW PEOPLE IN THESE STREETS…… SO ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION IS THIS THE NIGGA YOU SAID YOU DIDN’T KNOW?” I said about to tear her fucking head off, she looked like she was about to tell a lie. “Yo my man what’s yo name?”

 “Chuck…. But I don’t see what…….” He was about to say but I cut him off.

 “No need to say nothing else dude you gave me everything I needed.”

 “Jarvis, you need to let me explain.”

 “BITCH YOU AINT GOT NOTHING TO EXPLAIN TO ME ABOUT SHIT……… YOU LIED, AND YOU BEEN PLAYING THIS NIGGA AND ME. CUT YOUR BULLSHIT AND LOOSE MY FUCKING NUMBER HOE.”

 “Say bruh you aint got to talk to her like that.” The dude Chuck said and before I could say anything Myron stepped up to the dude.

 “My man, you might wanna shut the fuck up before shit get real ugly out here.” I pulled Myron back and we got in the car and pulled off. I was glad I found out when I did because I think any longer I wouldn’t have been able to be as calm as I was now about this situation.

 The next day, I was getting ready for the bowling alley when there was a knock on the front door. I waited for my dad to get it because I still wasn’t dressed yet. After waiting and another knock came, I went to open the door with my towel wrapped around my waist. When I opened the door, Myron was standing there looking like he was ready to fight. I stepped to the side and let him before I went back into my room.

 “Why yo ass never ready on time? You were supposed to pick me up from the church, ya know.” He said standing in my doorway.

 “I overslept, but how you got here anyway?”

 “Yo dad brought me, he wanted me to tell you that we didn’t have to go to church tonight because they are having that lil banquet thing and for us not to be causing trouble or he is beating our ass.” He said laughing.

 “Yea, he told me that before yall even got here but if you don’t mind I gotta get dressed so get yo ugly ass out my room.” I said shoving him out my room.

 I quickly put on my clothes and was looking at myself in the mirror when there was another knock on the door. I yelled out for Myron to get the door because I was making sure I looked my best before we left.

 “Ayy Jay, you got company.” Myron yelled from the living room. I gave my self one last look over and walked out my room into the living room to find Emily standing there looking a hot ass mess.

 “What the fuck you are doing here?” I said looking at her.

 “Jarvis, I’m sorry and I don’t know what made me do what I did but I promise I never had sex with Chuck and I love you, please I don’t wanna break up, I want us to stay together and work thru this.”

 “You must be out yo fucking mind, man get out my fucking house with all that bullshit. Go be with that nigga and let me be.” I said opening the door for her. She looked at me and walked toward the door, she stopped in front of me and kissed my cheek before leaving out the door.

 “Let me find out that you pussy whipped nigga.” Myron said laughing. “Looking like your bout to cry over there and shit.”

 “Nigga shut that shit up……… let’s get out of here and go cause some trouble.”

 We made our way over to the bowling alley and went in. I was thinking that this was going to be a boring ass thing, but Myron made it fun by acting a complete ass. Since we didn’t have to go church tonight, we figured we would just ride downtown and chill by the riverfront. I never knew the reason why he like going down there until that night.

 “Back home I never get a chance to do anything like this because I’m always caught up with church stuff or afterschool activities. I love when I come down here and can just act like a normal person from the time being.” He said while we were walking down the river walk.

 “I know as a Pk you have to live up to a certain standard, but I didn’t think it would take away from you having normalcy in your life, but what will I know, I just got to the point in my life where I know what it feels like to be a kid at times.” I said shaking my head.

 “You know we been cool for a few years and we never knew much about each other. I say we sit here and have a pow wow with each other.”

 “Pow wow?”

 “Damn yall down south niggas don’t know anything huh?” He said laughing. “It’s an open discussion between two people mostly to clear the air or have a heart to heart moment.”

 “Let me find out you getting all emotional and shit.” I said laughing.

 “Shut up fool, but what’s your biggest fear?” He asked while we were standing looking over the water.

 “I don’t really fear much, but I’m afraid of rejection, people judging me without getting to know me, and end up living hand to mouth like my folks did.” I said thinking about my life as a kid.

 “I think mine is……… people judging me as well and letting my folks down because they think so much of me, but they just don’t know how much they are fucking up my life by trying to keep me sheltered.”

 “Yea that can be tough but I’m in your life now and when you down here I will make sure you enjoy life and that’s my word nigga.”

 “Yea, but why are you afraid of rejection? I mean you don’t seem like that kind of person.”

 “There is a lot to me that meets the eye Myron…… I have insecurities that I don’t show to anyone and when I put myself out there and get rejected then I tend to shut down completely.”

 “You shouldn’t be insecure, you not an ugly dude, you smart as hell, and the most important thing is that I’m yo homie so fuck the rest of the world.” He said laughing and I playfully shoved him. “Can I confess something to you that I haven’t told anyone not even you?”

 “Oh lord……. Do I need to sit down because with you aint no telling what you about to say and I need to know if I’m going to be an accessary to a crime I didn’t commit.” I said laughing.

 “No stupid but when I first came down here and we hit it off, I didn’t befriend you just because I didn’t know anyone, and we got stuck together with those other punk ass people. I befriended you because I knew I could trust you and I wanna test that theory right here and right now.”

 “Ok you are scaring me right now, but before you start with your story or whatever. Let me say this because you may not want to be friends with me afterwards.” I said taking a deep breath.

 “Ok,”

 “Well you wanna know why I wasn’t to shook up by me and Em breaking up?”

 “Why is that?”

 “Because I have been struggling with my sexuality for a long time now and I guess when a girl wants to break it off I have no problem with it but when I’m friends with an attractive guy and they don’t want to have anything dealings with me anymore…… I’m more shook up over that more than I am about anything else.”

 “Wow, I had no idea……. but if you would have let me finish then I was about to tell you the same thing in so many words but I was going to tell you that I befriended you because I held on to hope that one day we could explore more with each other and since I will be coming down once a month now that would give us more time to spend together.”

 I’m not going to lie, when he said that I could have literally jump over the railing and into the river. It seemed like we both secretly wanted each other but neither of us was sure how the other would take it. I couldn’t stop smiling because now I had a reason to go to church every month. He was staring at me and then I realized, I was so caught up in my own thoughts that I never responded to him.

 “I’m sorry but yes we can make that happen, but you know how our folks are and we have to keep this our secret.” I said touching his hand.

 “I’m way ahead of you and besides we already friends so they won’t suspect a thing anyway.” He said walking over to me. “Now that we got that out the way, I say we seal the deal with a kiss.” He said leaning towards me.

 “If you really wanna seal the deal then I say we go back to my house and get ass naked.” I said winking.

 “That will work too, but what about that kiss tho.” He puckered his lips and I kissed him.

 That night will forever be special to me and Myron was an excellent first boyfriend to me, but with everything good comes bad as well. The first year of our relationship was nothing short of amazing until one month after we had our 1-year anniversary.
