I like to think Wanderlust developed a weird attachment to Jack after the jd23 lore. To his core Wander is a people pleaser, and Jack can seem to be pleased by anything he does (bc he resents him for a lot of things, he is most of the time put off by him), which makes Wanderlust keep trying to get that approval from him
