To the infinity and beyond

Born in Norway in 1976, Kristin Vestgard studied painting and drawing in Nordfjord and Oslo before coming to the UK in 1997 to work for a BA in Fine Art at Falmouth College of Art. Three years later her studies culminated in a sell-out degree show. Although she continued to live in Cornwall for a further ten years, her paintings becoming increasingly sought after by galleries in both London and the West Country, it is the indefinably Nordic quality to her work that one instantly senses. 

She wrote an artist statement in 2009:

Jonty Hurwitz born 1969 is an unconventional artist: he took an engineering degree in Johannesburg, South Africa where he discovered the very fine line between art and science. Each one of his pieces is a study on the physics of how we perceive space and is the stroke of over 1 billion calculations and algorithms. Jonty takes an abstract object and projects an image which we can recognise as reality, knowing that that reality doesn’t really exist. His art challenges our perception of reality.

Julia Geiser is a postindustrial designer from Bern, Switzerland.

When I first started to work with collage (in 2012) I really got attached to the method. With collage I am allowed to work fast and the pictures I create are more likely a sketch of an idea then an in all details finished picture. I only use pictures from the Internet. In such a way my work grasps a larger ground. It becomes a debate about rights and licences, about privacy and commons, about ownership and laws. I look at the Internet as a public space and I try to act according to that. As it is apparent, since the beginning I tried many different styles. It’s about learning something in the process of doing it and exploring the pictures that I am manipulating. The collages always oscillate between visual and legal borders.
