so i had an idea, what if the torn notebook Gerson sells you used to be a spellbook? anyways heres something i cooked up rq idk if ill post more.

After climbing the mountain out of curiosity about the stories they were told. the young human willingly jumps down where they are then taken in by Toriel and is raised and cared for as well as eventually taught magic (after consistent begging), the human will then after years of being under Toriels care will be allowed to explore the rest of the underground in hopes of learning more magic from as many monsters as possible in vain hope of becoming strong enough to help break the barrier.
