[ Toby/Candace ]
After telling Candace his secret, Toby leaned back gauging her reaction. It wasnât often that the fisherman gave up information about himself, especially nothing about his personal thoughts. But, if there was one person aside from family Toby felt he could trust with such information, it was Candace.Â
Her response only solidified that belief. Her thoughtful words causing a slight embarrassed blush to form on Tobyâs cheeks.Â
âI⊠I think youâre right. Maybe talking would help and IâŠ. I really do appreciate that offer Candace.â Toby wasnât much of a talker to begin with, but, perhaps maybe it was something he should start. âAnd⊠I hope you know the same offer standsâŠ. If you ever need someone to talk to⊠Iâm usually around water.â His lips curled up at his own joke, forming into a real sincere smile.Â
âAhâ good.â She smiled, shoulders arcing slightly in the waved of good feelings it flooded her with to hear him agree with her suggestion. And she reflected his amusement back to him with a quiet giggle, fingers still twined up in her messy hair. âIâll come looking, then!â
She took a step back, giving Toby a finger-wiggle of a wave. âI should probably go change and wash up for dinner.. Iâll see you later, alright? By water. âȘâ With that she turned, a little too sheepish to resume her jog nowâ instead trailing back toward home with a brisk, but far more relaxed stride. She called over her shoulder, just once: âHave a good day!â
