New Day
Rose Lalonde was your average- hold on scrap that she isnât average at all. She was into all sorts of dark stuff. The occult and Lovecraftian horror to name a few examples. Regardless, Rose Lalonde was a teenager, having turned sixteen about a week ago. A few months before her birthday she had applied to the Crocker Institute of Education, one of the best schools she had heard of. Away from mother (While Rose did love the woman to death, she did have a tolerance limit for snarky drunkness), her sister Roxy went there, and best of all- dorm rooms. Who didnât love living on their own when they were sixteen?      Back to the topic at hand. Rose applied a few months ago, and today she had gotten a letter back from them. She held her breath as she opened it, pulling the paper out of the envelope slowly. The womanâs eyes grew wide as she looked at the bold italic letters at the top. âAcceptedâ. Her face broke out into a uncharacteristically large grin, almost shouting in delight. She stood up from her desk, looking out the window of her room as it started to rain again.     Two months later on February 2nd, Rose was ready to leave for the school. She stood at the transportalizerâs base, looking at the console next to it with all the options. There were a lot of groups with sub groups and options, but that was to be expected with a school as big as a planet. She selected campus, and then plaza. The flyer for the school said thats where you could find out your schedule and what room you were placed in. She clicked accept and watch as white light flooded her vision.
A few seconds later, and Rose Lalonde was on Skaia. Though, she wast on another transportalizer- She was in the air. And falling. She looked down seeing a flowing fountain surrounded by snow, falling into the water almost instantly. Cold. Very Cold. Rose let out a shout as she fell into the water, climbing out almost instantly and shivering. Her bags were mostly okay, only the small one containing all her books having landed in the fountain with her. The clothing she was wearing however, was completely soaked.
Caliborn had been getting ready to walk home after another day spent dodging Jake and Eridan attempting to drag him to leg day. Fuck them. Fuck them and their âswolemateâ bullshit. He couldnât work out too much or heâd lose his bishounen good looks which was clearly unacceptable. Anyways, walking back to the dorms, thinking on what to do when he got thereâŚ
Heâd just made it to the plaza where newbies where informed of their class schedule and room assignments when he heard the sound of the transportalizer activating with a high-pitched whine that set his teeth on edge. Had somebody fucked with the thing again? They were normally whisper-silent, the only time heâd ever heard one make a sound was when somebody fucked with the dorm one to drop people from about five feet in the air above the pad rather than materializing directly on the padâs surface. He was walking by the fountain in the center of the plaza to check on it when the whine was suddenly replaced by a loud shout. Shortly after was a splash and a number of bags, suitcases by the look of them, dropping on his head.
Collecting himself after regaining his senses from the largest of the suitcasesâ impact, he looked towards the spluttering girl in the water. âWell, this is definitely fucking new. Never had girls and fucking luggage falling from the motherfucking sky onto me before,â he mused, before holding out a hand to the soaked young woman, âNeed a hand?â
Rose shivered on the ground, her black jeans completely soaked and covered with snow. Her head perked up when she heard a voice nearby, looking up to see a man with black hair resting slightly against his face. He held out his hand as she looked directly at it, staring for a moment as she tried to wrap her head around everything that had just happened. She had been thrown into freezing cold water, and now someone that didnât even know her was offering to help her up.      Realizing that she had been staring for far to long, Rose snapped back to attention and grabbed the mans hand, pulling her self up shakily, her body a bit weak from the cold. She looked at the black haired man and nodded with a smile, still shivering intensely from the cold.      âThank you, iâ m not sure why you offered to help me up- I mean you donâ t even know me. But thank you.â She said calmly, her voice shaking a bit from the cold. She turned around and saw her bag of books and writing supplies floating in the fountain, a look of slight anger growing on her face. On the outside she looked mildly displeased, but on the inside she was screaming in anger. All of her hard work ruined. She took a deep breath and walked over to the fountain, pulling her bag out and opening. A few books in the middle survived with minimal damage, but the rest were completely ruined.
âWell, I supposed I can always start new onesâŚâ She sighed out, walking to where her other bags had landed and gathered them up. She looked back and the man who was still standing there, and realized that she hadnât introduced herself. âMy names is Rose Lalonde, itâs nice to meet you.â She said calmly.
âIâm a fucking gentleman would be the first reason I helped you up, second would be, while that kinda trick could be funny happening to someone like my roommates, to a new student like you with no way to tell somethingâs wrong, its just kind of a dick move you didnât deserve.â Caliborn replied, shrugging, that and if the olâ Doc heard heâd not helped a young lady in need the fuckerâd figure out some form of revenge that the duke really didnât want to deal with, Scratch was a crafty motherfucker and was ridiculously good at engineering situations for you to humiliate yourself with barely any input from him. The older student started picking up a couple of the suitcases thatâd brained him, introducing himself in the meanwhile, âIâm Caliborn English, Duke of Prospit, First of His Name, and all that jazz, nice to meet you too.â
