I kind of am an alien so I’ve never had a pinned post before but here goes I guess ?

I don’t really have one thing that I’m about, I’m passionate about natural sciences, I love dinosaurs, bugs, birds, mammals, and nature in general. I’m also really passionate about toylines and big media franchises and I try to find the heart and soul in both of those things even though corporate profit oriented thinking can poison them so easily.
I’m very anti capitalist/ anti development and honestly pretty radical about it but I’m also chill about it bc we are all forced to live in this weird messed up society that mistreats people for being born in the “wrong” circumstances so my issue is more existential and systemic than it is directed at the people who are just trying to live.
I’ve been making art all of my life but I deal with a lot of shame and self criticism and so it’s been historically very hard to both develop my skills and share them with others. I’m trying hard to actively work against that bias though.
my most consistent interest is the world of OCs my husband and I have built together, my biggest art goal is to improve my human art to be able to portray my characters as accurately as possible to the image that I create in my mind. (Oh yeah I guess that’s not a normal thing? I think it’s a form of hypervisualization)
in terms of fandoms I’ve never really engaged with other fans of the things I like or the communities or anything, I’m much more of a wiki-trawling fact collector daydreamer. Everything I do is done with my husband at my side because we bounce ideas off each other so well. I don’t really create characters for media I like because I enjoy piecing together character relationships and dynamics that are maybe hinted at but not overtly expressed in the official media.

pre-Disney Star Wars (especially prequels)
vintage Godzilla (Heisei Era especially)
sci-fi/horror movies like Alien and The Thing
Masters of the Universe
Sonic (especially sonic adventure 1 & 2)
Silver and Bronze Age DC and Marvel (though I’m not as educated on these as I am on other topics)
Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 is a huge inspiration for me, I’m not really an anime watcher in general but there are a few that have inspired and stuck with me. FMA specifically has inspired my major internal narrative which I’m hoping to produce as a graphic novel someday, that’s a far off goal though)
I used to like Transformers and I still probably could recite 75% of all TFWIKI pages ever written but it’s become very painful and difficult for me to enjoy as I feel, like many media franchises in the 2020s, it has become a self consuming oroboreus and is rotting from a lack of innovation
I also love learning about obscure toylines (especially action figures) from the pre-internet era. I’m a veritable treasure trove of useless factoids, I love vintage hand-drawn cartoons (Hanna-Barbara, Filmation, Ruby-spears) and experiencing old games I’ve never gotten to try first hand, including old PC games
I also just enjoy a cold foggy morning with a brisk sun peeking through the clouds.
I’m really looking to just build a community of people that can care about things genuinely and whole-heartedly. I can’t always be online and sometimes it’s difficult for me to keep up with other people but only because I am deeply invested in things and that’s emotionally draining for me. But I really appreciate every iota of kindness from anyone willing to give it, and I really enjoy hearing when people are interested in or moved by my art (though I’m often too embarrassed to share my own opinions)
