Lysandrian Standard Calendar
While most regions have their own calendars, many of which are still in use today, the calendar system used by most of the world, as well as this blog, is the Lysandrian Standard Calendar. Named after the Kalosian King Lysandre (the brother of AZ who took over after the old king's supposed death), the calendar is a sort of Frankenstein of the most well known Kalosian, Hoenni, and Johtonese calendars.
Functionally, the Calendar is no different from the Gregorian Calendar we use in real life (12 months a year, 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day) with a few key differences. The months and days have different names and it uses the firing of the Ultimate Weapon as a benchmark with everything before its firing being marked as BUW (Before Ultimate Weapon) and everything afterwards being marked as AUW (After Ultimate Weapon). As a result, while the Auraverse is roughly on the same technological level as the real world, if slightly more advanced, the years read as much farther ahead. For example, Ultimate Emerald, which in real life would take place in 2004, the same year Pokemon Emerald released in Japan, takes place in 2991 AUW.
The months of the Lysandrian Standard Calendar are as follows:
Xern: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Xerneas, as it is the beginning of the year and Xerneas represents life and beginnings.
Azoth: Named in tribute to King Lysandre's brother, sorta just shoved in there awkwardly.
Victi: Named after the Mythical Pokemon Victini, a holiday of victory celebrating Victini is held this month.
Zapt: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Zapdos, the rainy season.
May: Zapt showers bring May flowers.
Jira: Named after the Mythical Pokemon Jirachi, adopted from the Hoenni calendar, the Millenium Festival, which celebrated Jirachi, is held this month.
Garde: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Zygarde, as it was originally the exact middle of the calendar, and Zygarde represented balance. The addition of Azoth threw this off.
Molt: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Moltres. Typically the hottest time of the year, though that is less true since the addition of Azoth threw everything out of wack.
Arct: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Arcticuno. Things start to get colder around this time.
Dancé: Named after the Mythical Pokemon Diance, a holiday celebrating Diance is held this month.
Leon: Named after the Litleonid Meteor Shower that typically falls on this month.
Yvelt: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Yveltal, as it is the end of the year and Yveltal represents death and endings.
The days of the Lysandrian Standard Calendar are as follows:
Fenixday: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Ho-oh, also known as the Phoenix, as it is the beginning of the week and therefor a rebirth of sorts.
Entday: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Entei.
Raiday: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Raikou.
Suiday: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Suicune.
Mewsday: Named after the Mythical Pokemon Mew.
Lugisday: Named after the Legendary Pokemon Lugia.
Celisday: Named after the Mythical Pokemon Celebi, as it is the last day of the week, and therefor we will be "time traveling" back to the beginning of the week with Fenixday.
