My daughter, one year ago, when you were born, I became strong. The moment I held you in my arms for the first time, I understood that my life was no longer only mine (elle devenait la nôtre) and that I would need to be resilient and face the world with courage, pour toi. Today, one year later, so many things have changed… I have seen you cry so many times, and so many times, when we were alone, toi aussi tu m’as vue pleurer. When I look back at everything we went through together to arrive here, I am certain of one thing: l’univers ne s’est pas trompé en t’envoyant à moi. You are the greatest gift I have ever received in this life. I love you more than words could ever express. As your mother, I promise to always be the best I can be, and I hope to walk beside you for many years, jour après jour, watching your discoveries unfold in this beautiful world, ce monde si beau.
