So you might be a little nervous about joining a sorority because oh my gosh it requires a lot of time because everyone says “you get what you put in” and that is true so you want to put in your all! Yes, it will seem like a lot at first! New member meetings, volunteering, hanging out with sisters, school, a job, and other things you might be involved in. Well I’m here to tell you it is possible. I joined a sorority my sophomore year of college, the same year I started to become an RA, and I had a job and I thought I was crazy. That is where my sisters stepped in. My first I wanted to do everything! I thought I needed to go to every single thing my sisters told me about which was so much fun….but I was wrong. Of course you should go to all the events you can but be realistic and believe me your sisters will understand. They are probably going through the same exact thing you are. The most important thing to remember is that you are a student at the university and that is why you are able to join your amazing sorority. The first few weeks that you join your sorority and get the schedule PLEASE sit down and look and your planner (which if you don’t have please get one it is a life saver in college in general) write down all the mandatory events and then see where you can add in all the extra fun stuff because odds are you will be able to. Also, ask your sisters for help! They are all going to school as well so start a study schedule with sisters to one hangout and two keep yourself accountable! Plan time for yourself! Plan some you time, that might be going out one night, staying in by yourself, binge watching OITNB, or simply having a sleepover with your sisters. It is whatever helps you relax. College is stressful and the best way to avoid getting the side eye for not doing things is letting your sisters know exactly what is on your schedule. Your sisters and Panhellenic are here for you!
