one of my favorite things about anakin is that he has this desire for freedom and control over his own life but simultaneously needs someone to tell him what to do at all times because he is so afraid of himself. he attempts to reconcile these two factors by choosing one Good Person that he loves and trusts to devote himself completely to (because someone he loves and trusts will never order him to do anything bad or exploit his loyalty, right?) which of course majorly influences his relationships with both padme and palpatine -- i will do anything that you ask, i pledge myself to your teachings etc etc
