“I...” her throat is constricting, she can feel her heart rate slow, and her vision is blurring. “Mulllll...”

He knows she’s got an allergy, and in case this were to happen he has an epi-pen in his apartment- because Mulder, you can never be too careful. “Shit,” he swears as she collapses into his arms. She looses consciousness as her feet give out from under her.

It all happens in slow motion. The weight of her body - too thin from Chemo treatments- warm and pliable is in his arms as he picks her up and brings her inside the apartment. He’s got a medical bag- also at her suggestion- right by his door, and after gingerly putting her on the couch he gets it.

A quick puncture to her thigh and she rouses back to the land of the living.

The look of concern is written all over his face as she slowly sits up, “What happened?”

“You were stung by a bee,” he begins. “I should have never had you out there to begin with, Scully.”

Shaking her head no, having enough of his guilt complex, she snaps. “I chose to go. Getting stung isn’t your fault.”

He looks at her seeing the fury in her eyes, wondering if she remembers the near miss moments prior.

“Scully,” he sighs, and is about to counter her point, and list all the ways that is untrue knowing she needs empirical evidence to the contrary when she takes him by complete surprise.

“Will you just shut up for once?”

He doesn’t answer. Her lips on are on his, and looses the ability to think of anything. Nothing is important.

She had been thinking of Mulder as she went into hydrostatic shock, and it was only then that she really began to believe that the boy could read minds.
