ok so I get pretty much every agrument in the whole Jade situation except for one. There’s people saying she’s “being selfish” by trying to garuntee herself an olympic place but like… how is that even a criticism here? she’s trying to do what she can to achieve her goal, it’s not selfish of her to not be like “oh well someone else might want that spot so NVM!” it’s part of the sport
wow this is just getting worse and worse huh y’all really want to get super mad at a teenage girl because her coach is exploring what their best options might be
Below I have listed the gymnasts who competed in the US Championships) a few weeks ago who will compete NCAA, their high school graduation year, and the team they have committed to.
Of the 21 who competed in the senior division, 19 are committed to NCAA schools. The two athletes not committed include Simone Biles, who was previously committed to UCLA but then decided to go pro, and Kara Eaker; who has yet to commit to a school.
Juniors
Jordan Bowers (2021)- Oklahoma
Sophia Butler (2022)- Florida
Aleah Finnegan (2021)- LSU
Olivia Greaves (2022)- Florida
Sunisa Lee (2021)- Auburn
Tori Tatum (2021)- LSU
The other juniors are so young that they probably shouldn’t be committed to colleges yet lol.

If Emily was bullied by Ashton and had a positive experience with Han I can kinda see why she would believe him over her... it's an awful and complicated situation
Well let’s not even slightly speculate that Ashton bullied her. Emily is not the first one to come forward and deny Han’s abusive nature though -there are just as many people, if not more, saying they’ve had a positive experience at Everest than there are with negative ones. Messy.
If anyone has followed me for a while I used to talk about a coach a lot. He got fired but there are definitely gymnast who would say he was one of their favorite coaches. Their are also gymnast and parents who would say the exact opposite. One will tell you how he’s a liar and he called her fat. Others will tell you how many times he threw his phone and how rude he was to the female coaches. Others worship him because he’s a world cup gold medalist and they liked his tough coaching. You can come and talk to any of them and you will get different stories. It was always hard to hear parents talk great about him even though he treated me and others terribly. Everyone is going to have their own story, and they can all be true at the same time.
I’d also like to add to this that he got fired after many years of me complaining about the situation. It wasn’t until i had another female coach back me up and the owners finally step in over the manager. I honestly don’t know how I hung in there. All this to say this is happening everywhere! I’ve been struggling for a long time on wanting to stay in this sport. I’ve had great but also awful experiences. Sometimes I even feel myself being a little negative towards my kids and I can get down on myself. I am having my first child in January and I’m going to take a break from the sport to figure out what I really want to do. I have a full time job so this is my passion but I’d kind of want to be on other side of it all like Aly Raisman is doing. Hopefully I can figure something out or maybe be brave enough to start my own gym that truly follows safesport and keeps it positive.
Several athletes say a coach in an elite program in North Carolina berated them and in some cases physically abused them.
More allegations against Han. Four other gymnasts from Everest have come forward with allegations of emotional and physical abuse.
“Practices at Everest Gymnastics in North Carolina, one of the sport’s top training centers, often began with Coach Qi Han calling out which of the girls, including some as young as 9, would be placed in the ‘fat group.’”
Parents were rarely around. They had been barred from practices.
Four other former Everest gymnasts have come forward with similar accusations (to Ashton’s)
Monica Avery said she filed a formal complaint about Han with U.S.A. Gymnastics in 2016 after she witnessed him kicking a gymnast who had been injured at a competition in Texas. She said she had been unable to learn exactly what had become of the complaint.
U.S.A. Gymnastics on Thursday confirmed that in 2017 it forwarded a complaint about Han to the United States Center for SafeSport, which is responsible for investigating abuse claims in Olympic sports. SafeSport assumed jurisdiction over the case to prevent a conflict of interest for U.S.A. Gymnastics because Han was coaching Locklear, a national team member at the time.
Avery followed up that complaint with emails in 2017 and early 2018 to an investigator at SafeSport, but the investigator told her only that the lawyers were considering what to do in the case, according to an email exchange in January.
A spokesman for SafeSport, Dan Hill, said that the organization was not obliged to give updates about cases to any reporting parties and that it never discussed whether a case was under investigation.
Sam Cerio, a gymnast on a full athletic scholarship at Auburn, recently confirmed that Han once hit her on the head with such force that he left a handprint on her face. She declined to elaborate on the incident, which occurred in 2012 during her freshman year of high school.
Locklear’s mother, Carrie, said she had reported Han’s abuse of Ashton to top U.S.A. Gymnastics officials. She told them how Han had dismissed Ashton from the gym again and again, how he had belittled her and monitored her eating so closely that she did not want to eat anything at all — or would eat too much, and then purge. Ashton, she said, became emotionally fragile because of Han.
Carrie Locklear said she had a follow-up conversation with the U.S. Center for SafeSport in March and subsequently spoke to an investigator. She has not heard anything from SafeSport since.
Update: Be aware that some details seem quite muddled and there are contradictory accounts of what has and hasn’t happened. Everest has said that there have been no reports made to either the gym or USA Gymnastics about abuse. Also, another detail that makes it quite messy is that Monica Avery, herself, apparently had 3 gymnasts leave her gym because of abuse and those gymnasts reportedly have threatening emails from her.
Apparently there is an ongoing investigation with SafeSport and that’s exactly why we aren’t hearing anything from them.

In one of the interviews with Tom Forster, he says you basically have to be an all arounder to make the olympic team. He mentioned the specialist needing to be all arounders because they are the alternates.
So i’ve always been curious…. Where does that leave Ashton Locklear? She says this is her dream but it seems like something that would be near impossible to accomplish?
