Hi guys,
My name is Xander Briggs. I was born Andrea, and grew up in a suburban home in Ontario with two little sisters and an older brother.
Everything seemed fine until I started to notice I wasn’t comfortable with my body or with my self. I began to hate my breasts and violently fought with people when they would refer to me as a girl.
My parents were always abusive. They used to beat my older brother for bad grades, not cleaning up, etc. My parents, Margaret and Joseph, were always drinking.
Things started to get better when I started high school. I cut my hair off and my mother had stopped drinking, and my father had gotten a new job and was starting to clean up his act.
In my sophmore year I came out to my parents as transgender. They were the last to know. My siblings and friends all supported me, but my parents did not.
My father threw me to the floor and kicked me, while my mother screamed insults at me. Saying if “I wanted to be a boy, I’d be beaten like one”.
I endured this for a week before I took back what I had said to them. For a year I hid again, afraid of what would happen.
I have graduated high school. I work at a local deli, but I don’t make much money. I need to get out of this toxic household. Two years ago I tried to kill myself, only to be mocked at by my parents.
I recently told them that I still felt that I was trans, and they kicked me out of their house. Now that I am eighteen, they can do this.
I am staying with a friend for a few weeks but I need to find myself a place to live. I am a homosexual, transman living in Ontario with no real safe, longterm home.
I understand if you cannot spare any money, as it is hard to come by. Even just well wishes and spreading this around will really help.
Basically, this is what all the money raised is going towards:
- Helping to pay my first semester at college.
- Helping me find a cheap one room apartment.
- Helping me to get groceries and get up on my feet right now.
- Helping me pay for my medical expenses and transition.
