its getting into the weeds of what consent even is VS coerced consent and i just think its so interesting. because stratt knows, deep down, even if she'd gotten him to say 'yes' on those last few attempts- when the security team was at the door but he hadn't yet run; when he'd said "no, for the children" and she'd gone we both know this is not for your students, none of that would be a real yes. She knows he doesn't want to go because he doesn't want to die. a yes at gunpoint is not a yes. but god she wanted it anyways. she was desperate for it. she could've had him drugged much sooner, halfway through the conversation, a prick at the back of the neck while he's distracted. but she wanted the illusion of consent for her own sake and she dragged it out as long as possible in the hopes he would give he a scrap of a yes. that he would give in even just a little bit, in the end. and grace didn't afford her that. he went down kicking and screaming and crying the whole way.
