Doctor Who Christmas special where the Doctor takes an aging tv actor back to the 1960s to see an episode of tv thatβs been lost forever because the BBC junked it (he canβt prevent the junking, itβs a fixed point) and ends up fighting alien baddies and in the struggle the Doctor accidentally knocks a whole shelf of film reel into a fire because oh no! Turns out he was responsible for the destruction of the BBC archives the entire time! And then he turns to the camera to wish the viewers a happy Christmas

Just seeing the performances, Steven holding up the visor while emphasising βthese,β and the ways itβs different from how the reconstructions have presented and framed it and made me imagine how these moments played out for years
Two previously missing episodes of Doctor Who, The Daleks' Master Plan episode 1 'The Nightmare Begins' and episode 3 'The Devil's Planet', have been found in a private collection in the UK and returned to the BBC. π₯³π₯³π₯³
The episodes will be released on iPlayer on April 4th.
The discovery was made by non-profit group Film is Fabulous.
The Daleks' Master Plan was broadcast once in the UK in 1965-1966 and then never again so this will be the first time the episodes have been seen in more than 60 years.
The Daleks' Master Plan is 12 episodes long and episodes 2, 5 and 10 were already in the BBC archive, for a total of five episodes.

ETA OK I listened to the podcast! I would say the must-listen section is the John Franklin interview, which starts around 21:45 and runs to 37:46. He talks a lot about the ins and outs of 60s TV production that led to these episodes surviving. It's all really interesting & has rammifications for future episode returns.
