Boost rolled off his sleeping mat with a yawn, he took a quick glance out the window, it looked like it was gonna be a nice day, maybe he could go for a drive later.
A small whine caught his attention; the purple tuner slowly drove over to the cot set up next to his mat. “Hi baby girl” he cooed
The small car inside looked up at him and smiled, she reached a tire up at him and squeaked. His daughter, Abigail
She looked so much like her other father, it was hard to hide who he truly was, her blocky shape gave it away. Chick Hicks.
Today was the day, he was finally going to tell Chick the truth. He had hidden away when he learned he was pregnant, not wanting anyone to know or the possibility of any drama to arise. Boost never told Chick about their daughter until now. Once she had been fed he placed her in his cab and the two set off.
He pulled up to the mansion, he had the route memorized from the many times he’d been there, and rung the bell. Eventually Chick answered.
“Well well well. Look who it is” he said smugly
“We need to talk” Boost said firmly. “It’s important”
“What, you wanna get back together or something?” The green Buick asked
It was in that moment Boost opened his passenger door and heard the race car gasp. There on his seat lay their four month old daughter, fast asleep.
“How?” Chick asked in disbelief
“Well, When two cars love each other-”
Chick interrupted him “I know how babies are made! I want to know how you of all cars got pregnant!”
“I’m intersex” Boost said
“Well you could’ve told me that before we had sex!”
“I did! You just weren’t listening. Now be quiet! Abby is asleep!”
To his surprise Chick immediately shut up.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Chick whispered
“It’s complicated, I wanted to but we were split up by then, I was already stressed out about everything so I thought it’d be best to wait til after she was born”
The Buick pulled closer to get a better look at the little car. His gaze softened “She looks just like me” Chick said in awe.
“Yeah my genetics didn’t even try. 10 months in my womb and she came out looking like her stupid dad” Boost chuckled.
“I’m not stupid!” Chick shot back. The purple tuner snorted.
Abigail was boxy much like her father though her paint was much closer to Boost’s, a soft blue-grey.
Boost got the little one out of his cab and carefully set her on the ground. Abigail opened her eyes and stared at Chick in curiosity. She attempted to slowly roll towards him and squeaked “Yeah that’s your papa” Boost told her softly, he had since laid down on the floor with his tires tucked up underneath him, much like a cat. It usually takes infants several months to master moving on their own and Abigail was still working on mastering it.
“You can do it Abby!” Boost encouraged her
Slowly but surely she made her way up to Chick and squeaked at him again
“Hey squirt” he chuckled softly
She nuzzled her father with another tiny squeak and flopped down on the floor in exhaustion
“Tired from moving so far huh?” Chick softly asked her he got a quiet chirp in response
Boost smiled at the sight of the two together, he and Chick might not get along anymore but that didn’t mean they couldn’t raise their child together.
He was surprised by how soft the green Buick had gotten when he saw their daughter. He wasn’t sure what to expect but this wasn’t it
Maybe this coparenting thing could work out
