Robert Pattinson Talks Batman
Robert Pattinson recently talked to Variety about the upcoming Bat-flick, which will be directed by Matt Reeves. He stated that heβd been chasing the role of Batman for much longer than anyone knew and thatΒ heβd kept asking to meet Reeves. Finally after Matt Reeves finished writing the script for the upcoming film, he agreed to meet with Pattinson.
When news about him portraying the Dark Knight first broke, Pattison said he was worried that it would hurt his chances landing the role.
Pattinson later flew to L.A. to try on the Batsuit for an official audition. He stated, βItβs maybe the craziest thing Iβve ever done in terms of movie stuffβ.
Pattinson describes that when donning the suit for the first time, βYou do feel very powerful immediately. And itβs pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating. Youβve got five people trying to shove you into something. Once youβve got it on, itβs like, βYeah, I feel strong, I feel tough, even though I had to have someone squeezing my butt cheeks into the legs.β He also stated,Β βYouβre trying to think of the way to balance, how to bring something new to it and not want to scare people off, and work in the confines of the costume.β
Five days after the audition, he officially became the Dark Knight, beating out actor Nicholas Hoult for the part.
