It’s nice to have a friend is one of my favourite songs. The whole album is describing the huge, happy, scary, sad, magnificent feelings of love and being in a relationship. But then It’s Nice To Have A Friend comes along and is like, sure all those things are great - but honestly it’s just so nice to have a friend. Someone who knows me better than I know myself. Someone who I can talk to about anything. A best friend who I can joke around and play stupid games with. Someone who I can be my weirdest self around. It’s genuinely the purest, most simplist, innocent, sweet and endearing form of love. And the lyrics, the music reflect these feelings so intensely. God this woman is some kind of prodigy.
