The Poison Garden

Established in 2005 by the Duchess of Northumberland. The garden contains over 100 deadly and hallucinogenic plants. 

’I wondered why so many gardens around the world focused on the healing power of plants rather than their ability to kill… I felt that most children I knew would be more interested in hearing how a plant killed, how long it would take you to die if you ate it and how gruesome and painful the death might be.’

i now present you my halloween costume options and my favorite persuasion attempts:

a black cat because black cats are gorgeous and i am gorgeous (i appreciate the flattery approach here)

a clown because i always make kids laugh and i am creative and i wear colorful clothes (hmmm, maybe i already am a clown?)

a pumpkin because i could have a creepy mouth and i might bump into things (solid argument)

a rotten pumpkin because i can probably get it on amazon (ease is always good, but supporting jeff bezos is my least favorite thing to do...)

ms. frizzle because i am creative and happy and the best teacher ever (the flattery approach is strong with this one)

a beach chicken because it’s funny (this is an inside joke in my classroom, and it would indeed be hilarious)

a unicorn because a long list of reasons, but my favorite is “you will break my heart if you don’t pick my costume”

catwoman because she is smart fast pretty kind loving reliable (there is no punctuation, just this list of words strung together)

a skelton because “it’s spooky scary, skeltons send shivers down your spine” (bonus points for a song reference)

a girl alien because ??? (this friend was not on his medicine and i legit can’t read it)

princess zelda because “zelda isn’t your typical princess. she wields a bow that fires magical arrows.” (can i just BE zelda, like, permanently?)
