But don’t get me wrong, we need to keep seeing more of certain characters

Sonya and Jack are such a great addition

I hope we getting more of Beau

Even if Folsom and her break up, I just want to keep seeing her especially the bonds she’s developed.

All three of them reunited in the future and lived happily ever after (because that is what was meant to happen)

Rossi: So, talk to me, goose. How are we looking?

I have watched all three seasons onn Netflix and I still have to watch season 4. This is one of my favorite tv shows.

One Day at a Time is sitcom but there is depth to it and it discusses issues with such grace. This show focuses on a Cuban family, but more specifically a single mom who was a veteran raising her two teenage kids with help from her mom. The show has focused on so many things some of which are listed below.

Immigration

In the first season they showed the impacts of deportation that it has on family members, through Elena’s friend Carmen. Not just that they have focused what immigrants sacrifice through the perspective of Lydia throughout the show.

Being a former soldier

The show shines a light on some struggles that veterans face, especially with veterans affair which was highlighted in the episode Hold, Please. There’s also a focus of the psychological tolls that veterans face. Luckily for Penelope, she joins a therapy group with women who have similar experiences.

Mental Illnesses

Rather than just bringing it up once and never again, it is constantly present throughout the show. They discuss some of the struggles people face and some potential coping mechanisms. There’s also a discussion of the stigma surrounding mental illness and why some people might try to keep it as a secret. Although Lydia doesn’t understand it completely, she tries her best to help Penelope.

Parenting Struggles

Penelope isn’t painted as someone who is constantly together and is this perfect mom, but rather she’s someone who is constantly trying and sometimes needs help. She deals with issues that comes with taking care of teenagers, such as substance abuse, having difficult conversations and teaching them about the world. She also slowly starts to open up to idea of dating again as well and pursues some of her other goals.

Drugs and Alcohol

The show presents the obstacles that people that become addicted to alcohol face through Schneider. This becomes a more prominent storyline in season 3. Alex also starts to do drugs in season 3 but it more so focuses on stopping him from doing so.

Feminism & Consent

Elena Alvarez, a social activist teenager constantly shines a light on issues and makes makes commentaries about issues she holds dear. There are specific episodes that focus on mysogony and harassment. 1x02 Bobo’s and Mamitas focuses on Elena and Penelope having a hard time getting through to males in their professional lives. 3x02 Outside focuses on harassment, consent as well as victim-blaming.

LGBTQ+

Part of being a teenager is figuring out their identity, which Elena is not a stranger to. In the first season, the storyline begins to develop. Elena is struggling with coming to terms that she doesn’t like guys, which she tries to with this ideal boy but it just confirmed what she knew already. She comes out to her mom and her grandma. Even though they’re not sure how they feel, they don’t show it, and instead they put their feelings aside and are supportive of Elena. Within minutes, Lydia dealt with how she felt, Penelope however just needed a bit more time getting there. She talked to Ramona about some of her concerns and at the night, she was fully supportive. Unfortunately for Elena, not everyone was supportive, specifically her dad. When she came out to him, he didn’t react well which affects their relationship. They continue to work on this later on in the show. Elena is also given a love interest, Syd who identifies as non-binary. Their relationship is built-up and the show also presents milestones that they have in their relationship.

This is a tv series with four seasons. The main love story of this show is between Flynn Carsen and Eve Baird.

The show focuses on three new librarians and a new guardian who are discovering and coming to term with their roles and why they were chosen. They go on new magical adventures while they recover artifacts to save the world, slowly becoming a family out of loveable misfits. A tv show where the heroes win but with their knowledge in their areas of expertise.

A reoccurring character Flynn Carsen who for a long time was known as the librarian. Used to the loneliness, he has a hard time letting people in. His love of learning and to the library is deep. He loves learning so much that he doesn’t stick to one discipline.

Then there’s Jenkins, an immortal who is used to keeping to himself. He acts as the caretaker for the library and guides the librarians and the guardian, answering any questions he can.

There’s Eve Baird, a guardian tasked with the responsibility of saving her librarians. She’s former NATO, and will do whatever it takes to protect her librarians.

Jacob Stone, a librarian and a man of his values. He brings a wealth of knowledge of art, history, architecture and knows about 65 languages.

Ezekiel Jones, a librarian and the greatest thief of all times. Egotistical, humorous but full of depth. His clever antics, stealth and technical skills have helped save the team on more than one occasion.

Finally there’s Cassandra Cillian, someone who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor since the age of fifteen, living with the fact she might die sooner than most. Her tumor brings headaches, nosebleeds and delusions. She possesses a gift, that no one else seems to have. She loves science, math and magic. Rather than fearing magic, she wants to understand it (something that her and Ezekiel share in common.) Besides brains, she is kind and a caring soul.

Cassandra Cillian has chemistry with almost all the characters on the show. (Go to YouTube and you’ll see edits of people shipping her with Jake, Ezekiel, Jenkins, Eve and even Lamia.) Throughout the show, there’s a subtle building up to Cassandra being revealed as someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community. In the first season, episode 6; the librarians are sent to uncover the truth behind what a town is experiencing, where fairytales are starting to come to life. Due to that, the librarians and the guardian are included in the spell, where Cassandra is given the role of Prince Charming. We see girls being interested in her and she continues to be charming towards them. In the beginning of season two, each of the librarians need to retrieve an artifact but Ezekiel seems to have hit an obstacle. He needs to steal pearl earrings off an Italian diplomat, which is trickier than he thought, seeing how it requires him to charm her. Later on, we see Cassandra easily able to do so, with the diplomat taking a small liking to Cassandra, leaving Ezekiel and Jacob surprised. In season three episode eight, the librarians go and investigate random combustion of people, leading them to a spa. There they meet Estrella and right away we see sparks between Estrella and Cassandra. At the end of the episode, they even kiss. Earlier in episode Cassandra did ask Jenkins out, which the actor Lindy Booth commented on saying on the lines “that her attraction Jenkins may have to do with how he’s immortal and gets to live a long life, something that she doesn’t have the privilege to.”
