â Past and Present â Trypton + GM Gattin â Knives
Personally I hate being cooped up in that balcony with a group of Capitolites that were more concerned with the food, drink and each other than the tributes. The pair at the archery station gave me an excuse to leave, and seeing as how I was down here already I might as well make my rounds elsewhere.
Seeing the boy from my home District with his back to me I decided to have a little fun with him. I nodded at the trainer as he left at Tryptonâs command and lingered behind him while he picked up a blade, âI can ask you the same thing.â I said as I wrapped an arm around his midsection, pinning one arm to his body while my other hand grabbed the one holding the dagger, forcing the blade closer to his throat.
After a moment I released him and pulled the dagger from his hand, âNever was a fan of daggers, too bulky for my liking. But when thatâs all you have to work with,â I flipped the blade and held the hilt out to Trypton, âJust trying to keep you on your toes.â I grinned, picking up a throwing knife from the equipment table, âIs knife fighting a thing of the past back home?â
The voice wasnât one I recognized but I didnât have much time to think about it as a split second later whoever it belonged to had me pinned against him. He was clearly bigger than me and while in most instances Iâd try to resist it seemed pretty useless here. âWhat the hell are you doing?â I said with a little venom as I turned to see whoâd joined me.
There was a faint glimmer of recognition before I realized I was looking at District Sixâs very own Gattin, victor turned game maker when he realized he was above the rest of us from Six. âBulky in comparison to what, a sewing needle?â I snatched the blade from his hand a little too hastily, telling myself I didnât need to explode on someone so important the first day of training. We could save that for the third day, that sounded more reasonable.
âSomething tells me youâre going to be doing a lot of that without physically putting a knife to my throat.â I weighed the dagger in my hand getting a feel for it. Though it was roughly the same size it felt quite a bit lighter than the knives at home. Probably some fancy Capitol alloy, Iâm sure Marion would know. âIâve been stabbed before if thatâs what youâre asking.â
