Dragon Age Dwarven politics are so good. Just such a juicy mess and the games do barely fuckall with them. The gender politics. The castes. The ruins of the former palace becoming the slums. I would die to play a game that is just negotiating trade deals between Kal Sharok and Orzammar.

When you meet Edward Elric he gives off the impression that he's the short-tempered hot-headed "violence is the answer to all life's questions" kind of protagonist, and it's in fact incredible character craft that he's actually the character who ends the series with a negative-3 kill count.

God's worst soldier Edward Elric. Showed up as the youngest member of the Amestrian army, took millions of dollars from them, never followed a single order, helped dismantle their fascist regime, left with a lower kill count than he arrived with, then fucked off to go be a house-husband. Character of all time.

You know, when you said "negative-3 kill count," I, who haven't seen the anime, thought, "He resurrected 3 people?????" But I'm seeing here on the wiki that apparently resurrection in this anime is a terrible idea.

on the verge of passing out but the 'templars Can retire to val royeaux' does bounce around my head a lot. you could stay in your home country and have your loves ones watch your slow deterioration or you could slowly deteriorate in fucking orlais, but if this is an established setup within the system then presumably they have specific facilities and people and resources that specialize in caring for retired templars in their last years. and it's also very much presented as an honor and a reward. you know.

i was in the tabris origin earlier and noticed a shianni line where she’s like “i have to go meet up with the other bridesmaids!” or something, and i thought that was really fascinating especially in the instance of male tabris, which i was playing, where both the brides she might be bridesmaid to are incoming strangers. and i guess obviously if bridesmaids are necessary then they couldn’t bring them along from home. it’s just that coming to a new city to get arranged married to a stranger is a stressful enough concept but it hadn’t occurred to me that you would meet all the relevant women your age literally on the day they’re your bridesmaids. so many absolutely crucial first impressions. with the way shianni is accompanying the newcomers and waves you over when you first meet them, i guess it’s the primary job of bridesmaids to show new brides around and make the big introductions and make them feel welcome and so on. idk i just thought that was fun to think about. it does make it a wilder interaction that shianni immediately smashes a bottle over someone’s head like she was right but what a way to make an impression on the in-law you’re going to be stuck with for the rest of your life
