Seriously. “This is terrible/awful/horrible, I don’t know why I’m publishing this” kind of things? No. Don’t do that! Why would I read something that you as the author are telling me is garbage?

Self-deprecation as a form of humour or as a coping mechanism has no place within the summary of your work. I have nothing else to judge it by at a glance. You created something and you’re posting it probably because you want to share it with others. Don’t discourage them from reading it in the very place where you’re trying to draw them in. Summaries are really hard for everyone. 

(Also: don’t tell me to “just read it” because you’re so bad at summaries. If you can’t think of nice way to summarize your work, choose a few lines from a scene instead. This will at least give me insight into your writing style and perhaps some idea of the plot, the latter of which is all I really want from a summary.)

It’s absolutely fine to think your own work isn’t all that great. A lot of writers feel this way - even some of those wonderful authors who have tons of comments and kudos whom you look up to. As its author, you cannot judge your own work in the same way a reader would. 

Publishing any sort of work can be scary, especially if you haven’t before but even for veteran authors. Be proud. No one could have written it like you did. Even those great authors could not have written it like you did! It is unique; it is yours.
