I Like Turtles

Mun for @asktehkoopz here! Mine is definitely one of my lowest priorities atm, so it's a vague "maybe".

Nah, makes total sense! The answer is... they’re both sort of that “Character -> OC” pipeline phenomenon, but in different ways.

The summary for Bob is that @askboompom gave Boom a boss/sort-of dad based off of a [Splorch] from Super Mario 3D World, [Sol]!

He got a spin-off blog with his brother (and later, an additional sister), @lava-bros, where it turned out that Bob, who is based on a [Motley Boss Blob] from [Super Mario 3D World], was part of a [crew with Sol] in the past!

Marilyn, on the other hand, is purely based on “I like this trope, we should give this to Iggy” and BoomPom’s mun agreeing wholeheartedly.

While on our “Jekyll and Hyde” media bender we got on, we found Anthony Warlow’s version of [Jekyll and Hyde] and kept coming up with AUs for Poggy with it (at least like 3). And we were like “Huh, with Iggy’s backstory at the time, we could squeeze this type of thing in with him, right?”

So Marilyn spawned literally because I kept drawing stuff with [Iggy/Marilyn to the musical] and he became a power-hungry, smooth-talking asshole.

tl;dr Bob is based on an existing Mario character, Marilyn is not, but he’s derived from one!

And now [they keep making out!!] Oh no!!

Cleaning my computer, and I found this sketch from an art challenge in a private server that was “Draw yourself as a Nintendo gijinka interacting with your Nintendask character”.

Y’know, I drew this glow up for Marilyn for ArtFight but literally never posted it anywhere. Hmm!

These have been in the drafts for 9 months, what the hell?

Some doodles of people and AUs and stuff!

The first doodle is a part of a MariBob-centric Jekyll and Hyde AU with a healthy helping of MariPom and Poggy in it. How many are we up to, like, 12? Anyways he tries, and fails, to strike up a deal with Sol. He’s a tough nut to crack. ù_ú

The gray doodles are from a D&D/fantasy college setting, with [Pom/Piper] as a firbolg and Iggy being batfolk. Marilyn accidentally got created because of magical fae nonsense, and tries to become top dog in the school. Shenanigans ensue. Nerd-ass Bob and him make out some. The fate of the world rests on their shoulders. It’s all in good fun. uvu)

Oh yeah I forgot I was gonna post more old MariBob stuff. WELL here you go! It’s a vampire AU! There has to be a vampire AU!

Anyways the spoiler-y tl;dr is under the cut, fellas if you don’t want to. u_u

Those who don’t know(I don’t know why you wouldn’t if you follow this blog), but there’s an April Fools event going on with @asktehkoopz (currently called @askthegerudolings ) where all their Koopalings are swapped to Zelda species.  So you know I had to at least think about what Boom and Pom would be in that universe.

So! I’ve already talked about the concept of Marilyn working with Sol n’ Co. on @lava-bros​, at some point in time on [this post].

Long story short, this is a while after he’s tried to play at Bob’s heartstrings to get his magic rings off of him, but got caught. Slowly though while still working there, he ends up getting? The desire to? Genuinely become friends? For Some Reason? Little a humility, as a treat.

So I threw down the concept and didn’t expect it, but we ended up going back and forth with it for a bit. I wuv Maribob. q_q!!
