Once and for All
“In a perfect wedding- or world- you wanted the best possible beginning. Start in a high note and, no matter what song follows, chances are just better that it will be music to your ears.”
I randomly found this book in my local library and I was looking for an easy breezy book to read to get out of my recent book funk.
I am so glad I did get this book, I did the audio book version of this since again I do have a small child and a long commute and so audio books are my go to recently.
This book is about a girl named louna who is almost 18 and is about to graduate high school and start college. she works with her mom and her god father William who are popular wedding planners.
Louna is cynical since she lost the love of he life due to a school shooting. She then meets Ambrose who is the brother of the bride that her mother is planning her wedding for. This wedding is very important and is the highlight of the wedding season. Ambrose’s sister pays Louna’s mom a tidy sum for her to employ her brother to keep him out of her hair.
The books goes back and fourth in time between her first epic love of her life Ethan and to the present. I felt bad for Louna who thought she only deserved one epic love and would compare everything to her relationship to Ethan. This book got me pretty invested and I enjoyed this light and fluffy novel.
I would give this 4/out of 5 stars
Im Afraid of Men
This book was part of my popsugar reading challenge for this year and the reading prompt was to read a book from a trans/non gender binary author.
This book is the reason why I do these challenges. normally I wouldn't of found this little gem on my own if it wasn't for this challenge.
Even though this was a short read, it was a very powerful one. she speaks about how with men they expect to little of them and so much for women. also she speaks about her experiences of being a trans woman of color and how she would always have to be aware of her space.
As a woman that hit me hard because unless you are a woman you do not know what it is like to walk out of a store and have to be aware of your surroundings at all times. because you never know how you may be kidnapped or someone is going to follow you....or worse. I remember having a talk with my husband in regards to him being aware of his surroundings and it never occurred to him that this is the day to day ways of women.
I would give this book 4.5/5 stars
Nothing to see Here
This book I read for my book club, normally this isn't something I would of read on my own and that is one of the many good reasons why i love book clubs and or book challenges. I feel like they push you out of your comfort zone and read books you wouldn't normally read.
This book is about a girl named Lillian and it was set in the early 90′s who is 28 and is going nowhere fast. She had an opportunity to get out of her town and do better than her own mom who barely raised her. She had the opportunity of a lifetime when she got a full scholarship for a prestigious boarding school and met her roommate Madison who turned her life upside down.
Madison wasn't your typical rich girl and she and Lillian connected, until a scandal happened and Lillian got kicked out of school.
They became pen pals and one day Lillian receives a letter from Madison about a job opportunity. This wasn't a typical one and it turns out that her husband had two kids from a former marriage that went on fire when they got upset. She would be their governess and take care of them while they figure out what to do with the kids.
As a mother I felt bad for those kids and they grew on me right away, I was rooting for them. Lillian did the best she could with them and these kids changed her in many ways. I adored this book and I hope you would read this book as well. I give this book 🔥🔥🔥🔥/🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Rook
“Dear You, The body you are wearing used to be mine.”
This book has from start to finish a roller coaster ride. I have to admit I haven’t read any book that even comes close to this book.
The main character named Myfanwy Thomas(pounced like miffany ). Wakes up all bruised and bloody and not knowing who she is. She has a letter that was written by her before she lost her memories.
She finds out that she has powers and that she works for like the MI6 for the paranormal and people who have superpowers called the Checquy Group. Think of it as like men in black for humans of supernatural abilities per se. She finds out someone where she works is out to kill her and she has to use the letters that her former self mapped out for her to figure out who would betray her.
Myfanwy had 3 people and a duck tell her before she lost her memories that this was going to happen and she prepared for this moment hence the letters and binders of information about her job and what she does.
This is an amazing debut book for this author and he kept me guessing to the very end on who betrayed her. I did this in audio book and I think it helped with the pronunciation of the names and I know I would of got stuck on. The voice actor did a really good job bringing the book to life and I would highly suggest this book to anyone. I am shocked that nobody suggested this book to me or even become popular.

perfect view!
The Storytellers Daughter
The story tellers daughter was a retelling of Arabian nights, I am not going to lie I kept having the sing Arabian nights from Aladdin stuck in my head while reading this book.
The book is about a girl named Shahrazad who tries to keep herself alive by telling her husband the King Shahrayar.
I have to admit I loved the fresh retelling of this story because you get to hear the backstory of what happened to the king and why he decided to kill his wife after only being married to her for one day.
I liked how the author kept the fairy tale mindset for this book, it made it more colorful to read. I really don’t want to say anymore since I do not want to spoil the book for anyone. I would highly suggest reading this book it was a quick read for me and this is great for anyone who live re-telling of books.
I would give this book 4.5/5 stars
The Lady Elizabeth
If you need to know anything about me is that I have a huge passion for history, especially for English history(I do have an associates in history education and was one year away from my bachelors but couldn't afford to finish). Not many people know about the life that queen Elizabeth had before she was made queen, even myself didn't know that much about her life just bits and pieces.I finished this book on the day she was crowned as queen 1/15. I listened to this on audio book (witch I do most of my reading due to having a child).
The very beginning of the book starts off her mother being beheaded and she was at the age of 3. It was sad as a mother to hear this because no child should live without their mom if they can help it. She went through many disappointments at such a young age between her governess leaving her to take care of her brother and her whole time living with Katherine Parr.
I didn’t care for the voice actor for this book since she couldn't do men voices right and it just irked me to no end and I almost didn't finish the book because of that.
There were some parts of the book I thought that the author put in there for dramatic affect. The part where Elizabeth was pregnant and had a miscarriage. I did feel for her when that did happen but I just don’t think that happened.
The book does get better from that point on and when her sister Mary became queen and her slow decline to insanity really did break my heart.
If you like historical fiction that isn't all very accurate I would suggest this book.
I would give this 3.5/5 stars.
The Road
I just finishing reading this book called the The Road By Cormac McCarthy. This book was about a father and son searching for the coast and surviving in this post apocalyptic world.
If this wasn't a book i had to read for my book club i would of stopped reading this utter trash at page 20.
I have so many issues with this book but my biggest gripe with this book is that it felt like one huge run on sentence. Also you don’t know the name of the characters and I felt that this author made these characters one denominational and that he was riding on the popularity of the dystopian genre. Also i felt like it was the same cycle was running in this book and it was dragged out for way to long.
AND YET THIS BECAME A MOVIE??
anyway.... I would give this book 0 out of 5 stars

The Fault in Our Stars Review
This is a book that is like nothing that I have read in my life. I mean most popular books for the past 10 years has either been erotica or vampire novels. When I got the email from amazon stating that this is one of the most popular books of 2012 and you see it's none the above you tend to wonder whats so great about this book.
This book does deserves everyone's attention because this book reminds me of the book the life of pi. When I make that statement I mean it as its one of those epic books that you have to read that will make you look at yourself and think about how much you have.
::ahem::
Anyway this book is about two teenagers who both have cancer and meet at a support group meeting. They are named Augustus and Hazel, they both have different forms of cancer.
Hazel is tethered to her oxygen machine and Augustus has only one leg and he is in remission.
This book is amazing from when they first met to the end of this book. You have to have a very open mind while reading this book because there is a lot of existentialist ideas that run throughout the book. The Author takes the idea of death and cancer and brings it to a whole new level and I love it. Personally I do not want to talk more about this book this is something you need to experience for yourself.

Nine Days Queen in Review
This is a Ya Historical Fiction Novel about the infamous Jane Grey.
She was the Queen of England for 9 short days right after her cousin King Edward (son of Henry VII) died. She had no rights to the throne and at that time she was 3rd in line for the crown.
This story show how she was born into a life of privilege. I feel that this author through out this story was telling this story of Jane as if she was 9 years old.
It was a great concept to bring this story to life and show that she did not want to be in the position but as a reader I did not feel as if she let her character grow up and she made me feel that Jane was a spoiled little brat and she had no depth to her. It gets bad when I start skipping pages because it is so god awful I dunno how people can read this book, hopefully I can find better written books on this subject because I find this woman's life to be interesting.....dear Phillipa Gregory please do a book on this subject please!
Top 10 Books of 2012
I love to read and I thought I would start out with giving you guys what I thought were the top 10 books that I have read in 2012. Though so much deliberation between 15 books I have to knock it down to 10
Honorable mention: The Hunger Games Trilogy This is the first books I have read on my kindle file and I flew through them with ease....my only problem was the jump from the 2nd to the 3rd book I feel like Susanne Collins gave the book to someone else and said here write this book. But non the less the book series was amazing.
10. Sylvia Day-Reflected In you(Crossfire book #2): I know you wouldn't think that I would be the type of person who would like these BDSM books but hey I have to say this is a well written book about a toxic relationship between Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell you find out so many things about these two people what makes them tick and why they are as sick and twisted as they are. This book gives them a better prospective on them.
9. Melissa De La Cruz - Witches of the East End: This book is about 3 women who are all witches who have been banned using their magic centuries ago. The main characters Joanna and her daughters Freya and Ingrid. They all live in Northampton New York, the mother tries to use her magic to resurrect someone and her two daughters use their magic in other ways to help the community out. This book is great because I have been a fan of Melissa de la cruz since she has come out with the blue bloods books. She even has some people from that series show up in this book. She shows that using magic does have consequences that show up in her second book in the series.
8. Melissa De La Cruz - Serpents Kiss: This is the second book of the series and you see an apperence of two important characters and you get closer to why these women were orgionaly banned for using magic and how they are going to fix it.
7. Meg Cabot - Size 12 and Ready To Rock: I have always loved how meg cabot depicts the overweight singer Heather Wells. She used to be a washed up pop singer who now works at New York College as a assistant residence hall director. This time her enemy who has stolen her boyfriend at the time who is a mega star Tanya Trace is now married and is pregnant with her ex's child. She has to move her rock camp to NYC because of her constant death threats from someone in her past. You see Heather Wells develop as a person.
6. Phillipa Gregory- The Lady of The Rivers: This is the 3rd book of the Plantagenet series and each book gets better and better with each book. This book talks about Elisabeth Woodville's mother Jaquetta who was known in the history books as a witch who used her powers to get her daughter who is a commoner to marry the king of England. You get to hear her side of her story about how she was used in her early life to use her powers to help her first husband out. She then falls in love with her husbands friend and the rest is history. You see how she became friends with the queen of england how she saw her own best friend get hungry with power.
5. Nancy Bilyeau- The Crown: This book had a slow beginning but once it picked up I could not put this book down. Joanna Stafford, a Dominican nun, learns that her favorite cousin has been condemned by Henry VIII to be burned at the stake. She does something that no nun is allowed to do she breaks out and goes to see her cousin die at the stake. She finds out that her nunery was burnt down to the ground the night she left. She also gets cought and is forced to find the athesian crown. She is sent to another nunery where it is claimed to be hidden and she finds out more about the crown then she wants to know.
4. Richelle Mead-Bloodlines: This author I have not read a book that I have not liked from this author if I was you I would seriously read the vampire academy books before delving into bloodlines because there are people who were in those books that are in these books. The main character Sydney who is an alchemist has been assigned to protect the mori's queens sister Jill who has has a recent assassination attempt. They all end up in a boarding school in palm springs and Sydney finds out that Jill was actually killed but brought back to life by a fellow spirit user named Adrian In this book there were some kids who were getting magical tattoos that gave them powers Sydney started to look around to see why this is going on she finds out more than she can handle.
3. Richelle Mead-The Golden Lily: This is the 2nd book in the series and in this book you see Sydney grow as a person and she that her way of looking at vampires is somewhat changing She is also seeing that her own people the alchemists are not what they seem.
2. Deborah Harkness-Shadow of The Night: This is the 2nd novel in this series and she does an amazing job depicting life in the late 1500's
1. Deborah Harkness- A Discovery of Witches: This is the first book in the series it introduces the characters a witch named Diana Bishiop and a vampire named Matthew Clairmont. Diana somehow opens up a book that was long thought to be forgotten, because she opened this book this opens up a whole can of worms and she has demons and vampires after her Matthew tried hard to keep her safe because now her life is in danger.
I will have more book reviews that are in depth so this is it
