So this year is the first Ohio Pre-Eclampsia Walk. My family will be walking to raise awareness for both HELLP Syndrome and Pre-E. If you have a dollar or 10 to spare think about donating it to this walk. HELLP and Pre-e don't have a treatment and they are one of the leading causes of maternal and infant deaths. They are also one of the leading causes of prematurity because the only treatment is delivery of the baby no matter what the gestation (in our case Archer was born at 31 weeks and fought a rough NICU battle.

You can also join our team. The walk will be in Gahanna, Ohio May 22nd.

Being a mother to 3 kids under 3 is like being in a constant state of schizophrenia. One minute you are laughing at the adorable things they are doing and the next second (not minute) you are yelling at them to quit what they are doing now because it has become dangerous. I love my 3 littles so much even when they are jumping off furniture and shoving eachother to get to the one toy that the other one was headed for.

Not to bad of a day

Big kids are down for their afternoon naps. Hubby gets off in an hour. Not to bad of a morning by myself. my 2 year old had a meltdown because I was taking him to bed and not his daddy (he freaks out with change) but he will get used to it. Hopefully the rest of the week goes smoothly

HELLP Syndrome Awareness

Back in 2013, I was pregnant with my first baby. I had the perfect pregnancy. I hit 7 months pregnant and got really sick. The doctors kept telling me it was different things: bronchitis, gallbladder disease. My upper part of my stomach was on fire, and my back was on fire also. I was swollen really bad and just all around felt terrible. I had 9 weeks left and I finally went to the ER and said figure out what is wrong with me now. Turns out I had HELLP Syndrome and needed to have an emergency c-section 9 weeks early. Between the time I found out and the time I had my c-section was a whopping 30 minutes. 30 minutes I had to come to terms that my son was coming 9 weeks early and I didn’t know if he was going to survive or not.

HELLP stands for H-Hemolysis EL-Elevated Liver Enzymes LP-Low Platelets. It is a life threatening pregnancy complication that they have no idea why it happens or how to prevent it. Symptoms can range from Headaches and edema to shoulder pain and abdominal pain in your right side. The only way to treat it is to deliver the baby.

Their is so little research about this illness so it is extremely important to know the symptoms if your pregnant and to make sure your doctor checks you for it. I didn’t know until the day I had my son that the pain in my stomach and back was my liver and kidneys shutting down.

Alone with 3 kids under 3

My husband started his new job today. He’s been out of a job for a little over a month. My youngest is 3 months old so I got spoiled with how much my husband helped out. I’ve been up since 3:30am because I was afraid we would miss the alarm so I am dragging. My big kids don’t wake up til 9am so I have a little time to get Tiny back to sleep and get them up. I’m ready to take this day by the horns and try not to crash.
