The goal is to retire as soon as possible without slaving away my whole life like my parents and their parents did. The military is the only job in America that allows you to do so after 20 years. Any other firm or corporation wants you there for 30+ years before giving you a bogus pension. 

Financial freedom and time is what I am after. 

Warren Buffett said it best in an interview, "I can buy anything I want in this world, but I can't buy back time."  Slaving in a cubicle and listening to a ton of Alan Watts is where I finally realized how important time is over everything. Good luck to you.“
