This is my latest PLA mould that’s gone in to burn away today. As always I’ll hope for the best.
The form was taken as an adaptation of the previous two which were a series of Arabic coffee cups. This is more stout and forms a bowl like shape rather than cup but falls into the same family. It bears the same skin pattern as one of the previous objects but is wider in section with less edges if I remember.
I’m also greatly enjoying the bevelled edge detail that was formed by the computer modeling. I didn’t actually realize it was there when looking at it on the screen but has formed quite an elegant way to terminate the surface in my opinion. Particularly because it of the thickness of the print (where the material has coped by building support structure in-between), it’s been able to taper in a bold enough line that it adds a bit of character. That to me is an interesting touch that is in a way the makers’s mark - a detail made by the software where I as the crafter was looking more at the bigger picture instead. Happy surprises.
