I recently rediscovered the clone murder mystery idea i had a couple of years ago, so you're going to hear about that >:]
Gin and Tonic are batchmates, twins, and members of the 501st. They're probably third generation clones - not quite veterans, but have seen plenty of battles. They're well-behaved (by 501st standards) and generally happy to keep their heads down and get on with the war. Everything changes when they find their Lieutenant dead during shore leave on Coruscant. The only person taking their claims of murder seriously is the corrie Sergeant, Happen. Their investigations unravel secrets, betrayals, bounty hunters, and a conspiracy hidden deep within the GAR.
Gin is a transfeminine clone! She uses She/Her and generally describes herself as a girl, although she's okay with masculine terms like "brother" or "sir". She's of a nervous disposition, and is prone to catastrophising. Despite this she has a logical way of thinking that lends itself to planning and strategy, and a terribly sarcastic sense of humour. She should really be a Sergeant, but she scored too poorly in her training. Her shooting skills greatly improved once she left Kamino however and she's now known as one of the best sharpshooters in the 501st.
Tonic is stubborn and head strong, but lazy and laid-back. He's protective of his vod'e and fascinated with their Mandalorian roots. He has a burning sense of curiosity that pushes him to learn but often puts him into danger. He's a jack of all trades when it comes to skills, having dabbled in everything from splicing to galactic languages. He's deadly in a fist fight and even deadlier with a bladed weapon.
The other important characters for the story are Lieutenant Tax (Rip), Sergeant Happen, Haran, and CT-8768.
Tax was the Lieutenant of Gin and Tonic's squad. He kept his men at arms length and yet cared deeply for them. They all knew he would always show up if any of them needed him. His death reveals him to be more mysterious than anyone had ever suspected him to be.
Sergeant Happen lead the team that arrived when Gin and Tonic reported Tax's dead body. He's an Ex-GAR soldier, transferred to the Coruscant Guard after an injury rendered him unfit for the front lines. The Guard respect him deeply and he's treated like someone of a much higher rank. Happen is resigned to his position and generally exhausted with the life of a Clone. He'll keep going though, because he doesn't know what else he can do.
Haran is part of the team that arrive on scene to investigate Tax's death. He's aggressive and sharp and leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of people he speaks to. He's disillusioned with the Republic and the GAR and the war in it's entirety. If it weren't for some unfinished business he was clinging to, he would have defected years ago.
Ct-8768 is the final member of the response team. He's a shiny, completely fresh of Kamino and has never seen action before. This is quite literally the first thing that happens to him. He doesn't even have a name yet! He's the quiet type and would much prefer to watch someone else do it first so that he doesn't mess up. His attentiveness and quick wits make him invaluable in the investigation.
oh my god. oh my godddd. love these guys SO much.
Did Gin and Tonic pick their names together as a bit, or was it sheer happenstance?
Also consider: Gin and my OC Sniper. Both are transfemme sharpshooter clones. Sniper is less panicky than Gin, and is for lack of a better descriptor, 'quietly capable'; she's the type to just get stuck in and do the task without saying a word to her brothers. Would they ever meet, and if so, what would Gin think of Sniper?
