Jill: Has anyone ever told you they loved you?
Klaus: Does my family count?
Jill: Yeah.
Klaus: Then no.
Klaus: Uh-oh! Someone's under the mistletoe!
Raccoon he's cornered in the garage: *hisses angrily*
Five: You called the police first and not me?
Vanya: What, I'm supposed to call you first when I find a dead body?
Five: YES.
Secret Santas have been assigned!
We just finished sending out all the applications for the Secret Santa, so make sure to check your DMs to see yours!
If you didnât get one, it was either:
a) by mistake: we had 50 applications to go through, so itâs possible we may have messed up a little somewhere. If you didnât receive a dm by either me (@evelinaonline) or @totallyevan, send us an ask and weâll fix things right away <3
b) you were disqualified: we made it very clear that we would not be accepting any application that contains inc*st/nsfw content. There are a few other things that go without saying (ex: racism, p*dophelia, underaged stuff in general, etc). If your application had any of these, you were disqualified.
note: if youâre not sure whether your application fell under these categories, reach out to one of us either by ask or dm
Please respond within three days, or you will be disqualified.
Hereâs a reminder of the other rules:
Incest and NSFW content is not allowed.
You can particpate by either drawing or writing.
You must have DMs turned on, so we can get in contact with you.
Tag your posts as #tua secret santa and #tua secret santa 2020
(tip: you can look into last yearâs tag, #tua secret santa 2019, for inspiration!)
Art pieces must be more than a sketch, but donât have to be full-colored.
Writing pieces must be more than 500 words.
If you need any clarifications about the person you were assigned to, or to ask for their AO3/other social media, send us a dm and weâll get in touch with them for you!
And lastly, please remember: do not tell anyone who you got assigned to! It might ruin the surprise.
Weâre super excited to host this event this year too. Itâs mindblowing how positively you guys responded to it, so weâre sure itâs gonna be even more amazing than last year!
Have fun!!

[After everyone failed to meet at the alleyway so they could go back home with the briefcase]
Luther: It's tough, but I think despite the circumstances, Five is taking it really well.
Five: [screams and shoots a hole in the wall]
Klaus: Hi Diego!
Diego internally: There he is, he's here, my favorite person in the world, the only person in the house I ever respected. God I just want to give him a bro hug and tell him everything is gonna work out and that we're gonna be okay.
Diego: What the FUCK do you want.
Klaus: I've decided. If the frogs choose to take me to their secret forest, I'll go willingly.
Ben:
Ben: What?
hi evan! i was wondering if you could help me out. my first language isn't english and i sometimes struggle with slang and certain phrases, so my question is, what does ben mean when he says "it's all been gravy"? like what does gravy mean here in the context of this sentence or this scene? thanks!
(also, i love your blog)
hi anon!! (tysm im glad you like it!) before i answer i just want to apologise like i did in the previous ask i replied to, for some reason i didnât get notifications for my asks and i have a lot of unanswered questions that im going to get to as soon as possible!
now to your question; Iâm not 100% sure myself, not just because english isnât my first language either, but also because it isnât a common phrase! and I remember when season 2 came out and a lot of people were wondering what âitâs all been gravyâ meant.
I think what Ben was trying to say was along the lines of âitâs all been goodâ, âitâs all been more than goodâ. Basically something positive. And to back that up, when I was watching it with greek subtitles on, the subs basically said âitâs been a gift.â
So in the context of the scene, Ben was trying to say that all those years he spent with Klaus were more than good!
I hope this answers your question!
Hey!!! I hope you doing mind me piping in, but I love this piece of dialogue!!! But yes!! @totallyevanâ is right, in context it basically means more than good!!
The saying IS obscure, in fact I thought the writers made it up!! I think most got it because itâs similar to the common saying âthe icing on top of the cakeâ which means âsomething extra that makes a good thing even betterâ
The actual phrase means something a little more precise tho!! After some digging I found this:
Gravy: a situation in which itâs easy to enjoy a comfortable life or to make money without much effort. âI can forget about the hard times, because itâs all been gravy for three years nowâ (via Cambridge Dictionary)
Less commonly, gravy is also used to refer to things that are: extra that you welcome having, but did not expect to get.
So with that in mind!!! What Ben basically is saying âitâs been more than goodâ
But if you want to be more precise, the exact sentiment he was expressing was most likely (spoilers for those who havenât seen TUA under read more):
if i could add on!Â
i think this line is actually meant to be bittersweet. âitâs all been gravyâ means somethingâs been luxurious, as youâve said, but i think thatâs sort of being said with a negative connotation here. a big piece of benâs character is that heâs tired of being stuck with just klaus, and heâs trapped with no room to grow or change or really have much of an identity without him. however, it does mean he gets to be with his siblings and watch them grow and mature, and heâs able to talk with klaus, so the world isnât totally cut off from him. but that doesnât sound luxurious to me, and they do expand on that in season 2, specifically with benâs posession. so thereâs some irony there, because things have been both good and bad for ben since he died, and definitely before he died as well. i think the word gravy could have multiple meanings here- the luxurious meaning as well as boring or dull, which it sort of has been since he died, at least on a personal level. so yes, i do think heâs saying that itâs been lovely and all that, but also that itâs not. in my interpretation, this is benâs way of explaining that he loves his siblings but itâs time to let them go- for both their sakes.Â
The way I interpreted it was that regular life is, say, mashed potatoes. And Ben got less mashed potatoes than most people, but he also got some gravy, which is his weird ghost-life with Klaus. And for most people, when theyâre done with their mashed potatoes, thatâs it. Theyâre done. They donât get any gravy. So even though he wishes heâd had more mashed potatoes, and even though the gravy definitely had some lumps in it, Ben, the sweet little bean that he is, feels blessed that he got to have any gravy at all. He wishes he could have eaten a little more, of course, but in the end, heâs happy with his meal, and heâs at peace with what he has to do to save Vanya.
Another way to look at it is like a movie. And most people, they go see the movie in theatres, right? But Ben got to see his movie on dvd, with bonus features at the end. And the bonus features arenât a movie, and they donât make his movie any longer, but heâs still grateful for them, because for everyone else, the movie ends when the credits roll.
So I think a nice approximation of what Ben is trying to say is, âthese years with Klaus were just the bonus features on my DVD.â It keeps the same spirit but its message might be a little clearer to non-native English speakers.
I love that people keeps adding to this, hearing everyone's opinions really brings a different meaning to the phrase!

Five: You're not gonna make the world any better by shouting at it.
Diego: I can try.

Five: [flips page] And here we have the letter K, we've got kebabs, there's kindness, there is karaoke.
Five: Klaus. Yes he is still here.

Hi I saw the ABSOLUTELY lovely Luther positivity you posted a while back and just wondered if you could do some more?? I definitely wasn't a fan of him in the first season, but they all deserve the chance to grow and his potential is often ignored in fic!! If you have time, I would love to see more headcanons of how he would treat his siblings (Vanya especially) after they save the world!!
HIII! I remember getting this ask right before tuactober started and then I got too busy with life and didn't reply so I'm so sorry! This is a really cute ask and I had a lot of fun writing it!
So without further ado, more Luther headcanons!
Luther loves honey. It's like his favorite thing to put on stuff and he can't get enough of it.
Luther is the cook of the family, sometimes along with the help of Diego's cutting expertise. He loves cooking big portions of food, and he has no problem cooking different types of food if everyone's in the mood for to eat something different. He's not a chef, but he's not half bad at it either. Sometimes the entire family helps, which he really appreciates, but he gets a little claustrophobic when everyone's in the same room with him. So he usually works alone and makes the best meals!
He gets really worked up and confused when someone's being sarcastic or saying something stupid, because he doesn't exactly understand humor. And then everyone starts laughing at Luther's reaction and someone explains that it's sarcasm/a joke, and then Luther laughs along. No matter the context, he gets really happy when he makes everyone laugh. A lot of the time Luther doesn't feel like he deserves to be part of the family, or that he even is part of the family, but making his siblings laugh makes him feel closer to them in a way.
Luther really tries to be supportive about everything his family does, perhaps a bit too supportive. For example, once Vanya finishes playing a song on the violin, he will start giving an awkward speech about how the music really touches his heart, but it's honestly really funny when he tries to be serious like that.
He still feels horrible about how he's treated Vanya, so he always leaves her little origami animals in her violin bag, plate or mug. Sometimes he'll just straight up go up to her, ask her to make a cup with her hands and he'll leave her origami. They don't really talk about it since they're both bad with words, but that gesture is enough.
Forgive me if I made any spelling mistakes, I didn't read these too thoroughly, but I hope you like them! Luther positivity for the win â¤ď¸
