one of the coolest things about getting vault tracks is seeing how she held onto metaphors from the songs she discarded until she found another spot for them on a later album. like you all over me and clean was the first example of this but we also see “i’ll be summer sun for you forever, forever winter if you go” popping back up in me! and “all’s well that ends well” coming back in a very different way on lover. it’s so delightful to get more insight into her process especially with the gift of hindsight
