ŕźťISLAND MISSIONŕźş
Here are all parts of the series!!!
Part one
Part two
Part three
Part three!
Sorry that I kept yall waiting that much
Warnings; slight tension
The first hour was nothing but blue.
Sky. Water. Heat.
You dragged a hand through your soaked hair, salt already drying into a sticky crust on your skin. Megumi paced the narrow strip of sand, every step throwing up tiny clouds of white grit.
âI told you this was a bad idea,â he snapped, voice low but sharp.
You spun on him. âOh yeah? And you couldnât justâwhatâstop me?â
His jaw tightened. âYou donât listen.â
âYou donât talk,â you shot back. âBig difference.â
Silence pressed in, thicker than the humid air. Somewhere out in the trees a bird shrieked, the sound strange and metallic.
You both looked up. Nothing but green shadows.
Your stomach knotted, not from fearâyetâbut from hunger. Breakfast felt like days ago. The sun was merciless, already pushing noon. Sweat ran down your spine, mixing with the saltwater that hadnât dried.
âWe need food,â you said finally, quieter now.
Megumi glanced down at himself: damp boxers clinging to his hips, sand sticking to every inch of skin. You werenât much betterâblack bra and panties streaked with grit. The sight wouldâve been funny if your throat werenât so dry.
âFresh water first,â he said. âThen food.â
You nodded, even though the trees looked like a wall of green with no promise of anything but bugs. He stepped ahead, scanning the ground like he could will a path into existence. His shoulders were tense, every muscle coiled.
You trailed behind, feet sinking into warm sand that quickly gave way to cooler soil. The air shiftedâless salt, more earth. Leaves whispered above you, thick and waxy, dripping with humidity.
âFeels like we walked into a greenhouse,â you muttered.
Megumi didnât answer, but his eyes kept darting, assessing. The silence of the island was wrongâno waves once you stepped inside, no normal insect hum. Just that strange, hollow quiet.
Something snapped to the left.
You both froze.
A branch lay cracked across the path behind you, still rocking slightly as if something had just stepped there.
Your pulse spiked. You caught Megumiâs eyesâsteady but alert.
âAnimal?â you whispered.
âOr something worse,â he said.
A chill slid down your damp skin despite the heat.
Megumi motioned for you to stay quiet as he stepped off the narrow trail.
The undergrowth thinned, and a faint hiss reached your earsâa low, steady rush that didnât sound like the ocean.
Water.
Your heart kicked. âDo you hearââ
âYeah,â he cut in, already moving faster.
Branches scraped your arms as you followed the sound. The hiss grew into a roar, cool mist threading through the heavy heat. Then the trees opened and you both stopped short.
A waterfall tumbled from a wall of black rock, silver in the sunlight. It crashed into a deep pool so clear you could see smooth stones glowing blue beneath the surface. No salt-air sting, no endless horizonâjust clean, fresh water.
For a heartbeat neither of you spoke.
Then you both moved at once.
You dropped to your knees at the edge, cupping handfuls of cold water to your mouth. It was sharp and sweet, like melted ice. You drank until your stomach ached, letting it spill down your chin and soak your chest. The salt and grit of the swim washed away in seconds.
Megumi knelt beside you, silent but drinking just as greedily. Drops clung to his lashes; his hair was darker, almost black from the spray. He let out a quiet breathâhalf sigh, half laughâthat youâd never heard from him before.
âThis,â you gasped, âis the best thing thatâs ever happened to me.â
He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, a rare, small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. âNot arguing.â
You leaned back on your heels, letting the mist cool your sun-burned skin. The pounding of the falls filled everythingâthe panic of the missing island, the hunger, the fightâall of it faded under the steady thunder of water.
For the first time since the swim, you felt a flicker of hope.
Megumi rose first, brushing damp leaves from his knees.
You shifted back to give him spaceâtoo late.
His foot slid on a slick stone and bumped your shoulder.
Your balance vanished.
âMegâ!â
The pool swallowed the rest of your words. Cold shot through you like a shock, bubbles rushing past your ears. You kicked upward and broke the surface with a gasp.
Megumi crouched at the edge, eyes wide. âSorry,â he said quickly, hand outstretched.
You blinked water from your lashes, the initial chill fading into something almost pleasant. âYouâre sorry?â you echoed, taking his hand.
His grip was firm, warm despite the spray. For a second you let him start to pull you upâthen you tightened your hold and yanked.
He barely had time to curse before he splashed in beside you, sending another wave across the pool.
You surfaced laughing, hair plastered to your cheeks. âNow weâre even.â
Megumi came up sputtering, water streaming from his bangs. For a heartbeat he just stared, incredulous, thenâunbelievablyâlaughed. A real laugh, low and rough, almost drowned by the waterfall.
You floated backward, treading water. âSee? Not the worst way to cool off.â
He shook his head, droplets flying, but the faint smile stayed. The current carried you a little closer, until the distance between you was just a few ripples and the sound of the falls.
The air around you felt differentâcharged, but quiet. No words, no sudden move, only the steady rush of water and the warmth of his gaze lingering longer than usual.
Then he looked away first, scanning the trees. âWe shouldâŚcheck the area,â he said, voice rougher than before.
You bit back another grin. âRight. After weâŚaccidentally dry off.â
The waterfall roared on, but the silence between you felt heavier nowâan unspoken something suspended in the mist.

Island mission
Part two!!
warnings: mention of family loss. Coma. Being sold. Illusions
âSo⌠this is where weâre staying?â you asked, forcing a smile despite the exhaustion tugging at your face.
âItâs nothing fancy, but yeah,â Megumi replied flatly.
You both stood at the entrance of a hotel.
The two of you stepped inside, heading toward the check-in desk.
âSo, youâre a couple?â the receptionist asked casually.
God, you wishedâwait. Where the hell did that thought come from?
âNo,â you said quickly, trying to keep your tone neutral.
âMhm. Sure youâre not,â she muttered, giving you a knowing look. If your face flushed, you could blame it on the heat.
âThereâs a room freeâ157,â she added, sliding the key toward Megumi.
âThanks,â he said, already sounding annoyed. You just smiled.
Climbing the stairs felt like dragging bricks, both of you worn out from the flight. You pushed open the doorâonly to see one bed.
âWhat theâŚâ Megumi mumbled, already turning on his heel. He headed back down to the desk.
âThatâs the only room available,â the receptionist explained. âThis areaâs packed with tourists. Thereâs another hotel about four miles away.â
âItâs midnight and pitch darkâIâm not walking four miles,â you snapped, more from exhaustion than actual anger.
âFine,â Megumi grumbled, heading back toward the room.
Great. One bed. Midnight. Heat. Perfect.
You both just wanted to shower and go to bed. Megumi went first to the shower while you unpacked ur things.
The shower ran for a while before the bathroom door opened, a wave of warm steam spilling into the room.
Megumi stepped out with a towel slung low around his hips, damp hair falling into his eyes. A few droplets traced down his chest before disappearing against the edge of the towel.
âYouâre up,â he said simply, passing you on his way to his bag.
You grabbed your things and slipped into the bathroom, the mirror still fogged from his shower. The water was warm, relaxing the stiffness in your muscles after the long day. When you came back out, your hair clung to your neck, and you wore nothing but underwear and an oversized T-shirt.
,,I can sleep on the couchâ, you said. Trying to be polite.
âYouâre not sleeping on the couch,â Megumi said without looking up from the folder in his hands.
âI can if I want toââ
âNo. It looks uncomfortable and Iâm not letting you.â
You sighed but crossed over anyway, slipping under the blanket on one side. He joined a moment later, leaving a respectable amount of space between you. The hum of the air conditioner filled the silence.
âWhat about your family?â he asked quietly after a moment.
You hesitated. âThey were killed by cursed spirits. A long time ago.â
His gaze stayed on the ceiling. âMy dad sold me to the Zenâin clan. My sisterâs in a coma.â
You turned your head toward him, but he didnât look back.
âIâm sorry, life mustâve been lonelyâ you said.
He gave a small shrug. âI got adopted by gojo after, it wasnât that bad afterwards.â
,,thatâs why ur his favorite student huhâ you smiled and turned your head to him
,,shut upâ he mumbled
,,itâs so obvious that he likes youâ you smiled.
The room went quiet again, but the air felt different now â heavier, but not in a bad way. At some point, your knees brushed under the blanket, and neither of you moved away.
⸝
The next morning
You woke slowly, noticing first that the blanket was heavier than before. Then you realized it wasnât the blanket â it was his arm, draped loosely around your waist.
Megumi was still asleep, breathing steady, his face relaxed in a way you didnât see often. You stayed still, listening to the faint hum of the air conditioner and the sound of tourists outside the window.
It felt⌠calm.
The morning sun was soft but bright, spilling golden light across the quiet beach as you and Megumi finished your coffee at a small table near the shore. The air was thick with the scent of salt and sea breeze, mingling with the bitter aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Neither of you spoke much â the quiet between you comfortable, even familiar.
You packed up the manila folder, flipping it open one last time as you stood and headed toward the waterâs edge. The beach was empty, untouched â just the gentle roll of waves and the distant cry of seagulls.
âThere it is,â you said, pointing across the stretch of shimmering blue. The island was small but clearly visible, green trees rising against the sky. Not far, but enough to make you think twice.
Megumi looked out as well, his dark eyes sharp but calm. âItâs a swim.â
You smirked. âEasy.â
Without hesitation, you peeled off your shirt and shorts until you were standing in just your black bra and matching panties, the tiny bow on the hip catching the light.
Megumiâs gaze flicked away almost immediately, but you caught the brief glance. âCome on,â you teased softly, âItâs not like itâs the first time youâve seen a woman in her underwear.â
He rubbed the back of his neck but said nothing. The tip of his ears were slightly red. Stripping down to his boxers, he stepped beside you at the waterâs edge.
The ocean was cool, tugging at your skin as you waded in together. The waves pushed and pulled around you as you started the swim, steady and strong.
Thenâwithout warningâa wave slammed into your face, salty water flooding your mouth and nose. You sputtered, blinking hard.
âThat was personal,â you muttered, wiping saltwater from your eyes.
Megumi let out a quiet tch sound, the sound low but genuine. âItâs the ocean. It doesnât care about your feelings.â
You grinned, splashing water back at him. For a moment, the tension between you broke completely, replaced by easy laughter as he splashed you again.
The water tasted harsh and salty in your mouth as you both laughed, the sun warming your skin despite the cold sea.
Eventually, you reached the shore of the island, your arms heavy and your lungs burning just slightly from the swim. You crawled out onto the sand, gasping for air and wiping water from your face.
You turned, expecting to see the familiar outline of the mainland behind you.
But it was gone.
No beach. No hotel. No cafĂŠ. No sign of the place youâd started from.
Just endless blue stretching to the horizon.
Your heart skipped.
You glanced at Megumi, who was already scanning the water, his jaw tight, eyes narrowed.
âItâs gone,â he said quietly.
You swallowed hard.
âFuck.â
He nodded.
âFuck.â
ââââ
Part two!!
Sorry yall waited so long
For anyone who doesnât understand why the island is gone hereâs the explanation:
So gojo said in episode one that the mission could include illusions. So the mainisland they were one was an illusion. It only disappeared after a certain distance. Everyone or everything that was on that island is gone. Including humans building clothes and phones
Does anyone wanna have part two from the island series???
Megumi x Reader
First time writing a story!!!!
English isnât my first language so if you see any grammar mistakes please donât judge me
Warnings: none
ISLAND MISSIONS ARE NEVER THIS SIMPLE
The moment Gojo walked into the room grinning, you knew something was wrong.
He tossed a folder onto the table between you and Megumi, the paper sliding to a perfect stop like it rehearsed itself.
âRemote island,â he said casually. âSpecial-grade curse. Oh, and a special-grade cursed weapon, which weâre hoping isnât bonded to said curse. But hey, you twoâll figure it out.â
You glanced at Megumi.
He looked exhausted already. âYouâre sending us alone?â
Gojo gave an exaggerated shrug, leaning against the doorframe. âYouâre my smartest, most balanced pair. Donât make that face, Fushiguroâyou like her.â
You blinked. âSorry, what now?â
He kept talking. âItâs uninhabited. Shouldnât be too populated with curses eitherâthough weâre still tracking some unstable readings.â He pointed to the file. âCliff symbols. Burnt trees. Weird coastal disturbances. Probably a low-grade Domain situation. Worst case, illusion-type.â
Megumi narrowed his eyes. âSo not just a beach stroll.â
Gojoâs grin widened. âI mean, there is a beach.â
You opened the folder and scanned the photos. Aerial shots of the island. Trees scorched black at the edges. A cave entrance near the shore, with distorted symbols etched into the rock face.
And then one image:
A sword half-buried in sand, pulsing faintly with cursed energy even through the photo.
You frowned. âWeâre retrieving that?â
âNope,â Gojo said brightly. âYouâre containing it. Until we can bring a team to extract it safely.â
You shut the folder with a sigh. âSo weâre babysitting a sword?â
âWith a nasty bite,â he added. âAnd possibly a pet curse attached.â
Megumi sighed, rubbing his temple. âWhen do we leave?â
Gojoâs smile turned lethal.
âNow.â
ââââ
You packed light.
Nothing fancyâjust the essentials.
A few shirts. Two pairs of shorts. Your Jujutsu High uniform. Underwear.
And⌠a bikini.
âIn case weâre going in the water,â you told yourself.
Not because you thought youâd be sunbathing.
Not because you wondered how Megumi would look wet and shirtless.
Definitely not.
You zipped your duffel closed with a sigh, slinging it over your shoulder just as headlights swept across your window.
Ijichi.
⸝
The car ride was quiet.
Ijichi sat stiff as ever in the front seat, his knuckles white on the wheel as he merged onto the highway. You sat in the back with Megumi, both of you silentâbut not awkwardly.
The kind of silence that felt practiced.
Like youâd done this before.
You glanced at him. His arms were folded. Eyes half-lidded. He looked like he hadnât slept, but not in the usual overworked-sorcerer way.
More like⌠he was thinking.
Hard.
âYou okay?â you asked quietly.
He didnât look at you, just nodded. âYeah. Just want to get this over with.â
âââ
Mid-Flight
You sat by the window. Megumi had the aisle.
The mission folder lay open on the tray table between you, both of you leaning in to scan the notes one more time.
âSlight distortion near the northern cliffside,â you murmured, eyes skimming the details. âPossibly illusion-based domain. Doesnât seem active yet.â
âCould activate if we get close enough,â Megumi muttered, tapping his finger on the grainy photo.
You huffed softly. âI bet itâs not that bad. Once weâre on the island, we grab the cursed weapon, then attack the curseâif itâs not bonded to it.â
You leaned back in your seat.
Being on a mission with Megumi was like talking to yourself.
He rarely spoke unless absolutely necessary.
And when he did, it was clipped, efficient, emotionally flat.
If youâd gone with Yuji, he wouldâve cracked a joke by now. Or at least smiled. Or asked what snacks you brought.
Megumi turned a page in the file.
âIf the curse is bonded to the weapon, weâll need a way to separate them first.â
You sighed.
All these what if questions were driving you insane.
Not to mention his stone-face expressionâlike empathy just⌠wasnât installed.
You leaned against the window, letting your head rest against the cool surface.
And then came the sound.
WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHâ
Right behind you.
A toddler.
Screaming.
You werenât usually bothered by kids, but this one?
Heâd been kicking the back of your seat for thirty minutes straight and crying like someone cursed his juice box.
You exhaled slowly.
Megumi didnât react.
Of course he didnât.
You peeked at him. Eyes half-lidded, expression unreadable.
âHow do you not go crazy?â you muttered.
He shrugged. âI tune people out.â
Must be nice.
You closed your eyes anyway.
You werenât going to let a crying childâor a stoic sorcererâruin your chance to sleep.
Fushiguro woke you up before the plane landed.
âL/n, weâre landing now,â he said quietly.
His hand tapped your shoulderâgentle. Like he didnât want to scare you.
Thatâs what you told yourself, at least.
You woke up, but not because of him.
The toddler behind you had started kicking your seat again.
Of course.
You groaned under your breath as the plane wheels hit the tarmac with a thud.
People immediately stood up, cramming into the aisle like their lives depended on getting out first.
No patience. No logic.
Megumi stood too. Calm. Controlled.
He grabbed his backpackâand yours.
Without a word, he handed it to you.
âThanks,â you mumbled, voice still heavy with sleep.
⸝
Outside â Airport Exit
The heat hit you like a punch in the face.
Thick, humid, and immediate.
You blinked up at the sky, squinting through the brightness, adjusting your grip on your bag.
Then you felt it.
Tiny fingers in your hair.
You turned fastâalready annoyedâand locked eyes with the little monster that had spent the entire flight torturing you.
The toddler.
He was grinning.
Tongue out.
Fist still wrapped around your strands like it was a leash.
âOwâhey!â
He tugged harder.
Before you could fully lose your mind, his mother yanked him back by the arm, muttering an awkward apology before disappearing into the crowd.
You stared after them, fixing your hair.
âFuckass kid,â you mumbled under your breath.
Megumi didnât say anything.
But you were pretty sure you saw the corner of his mouth twitch.
