Things are changing
I started this Tumblr as a way to share my thoughts and journey as I battle terminal brain cancer. I wanted to give people an idea of my struggles, fears, hopes, dreams and just share a bit more of me. I still hope to do that but yesterday I got some news that has halted a lot of the hope in my heart. I went to the doctor’s yesterday and they sat me down. I knew it was serious because they had multiple doctors in the room. After much medical jargon was tossed around, the final diagnosis was that the tumor in my brain is growing. The radiation is not slowing it down at all. I knew something was amiss as my headaches have gotten worse and tremors are becoming a daily part of life. The doctor’s want me to continue doing radiation and they would like to add chemotherapy to the regimen. I have done chemo and radiation before when I had my two previous bouts with cancer and calling it draining is putting it nicely. It exhausts your life force. The thought of having to go through that again feels like a thousand pound weight on my spirit. On top of that, I work at a job that requires long hours and lots of energy. Energy that is waning with each new symptom that develops from this cancer. This cancer that has taken over my life. This cancer has me thinking about hospices and burial plans at 30 years old. You don’t ever plan for these things. You never think to plan for these things. You cant’t plan for these things. You just deal with it as it comes and it just feels like it keeps coming. I walked out of the doctor’s office yesterday even though they had more to tell me. I needed to get away. I needed to do something that wasn’t solely focused on cancer. So, I went home and I cleaned. Cleaning is my happy place. My peaceful place. The thing that centers me. I cooked and waited for my fiance to come home. It was such a relief to just be. Be Kyah. Those moments of existing without having to think about cancer are so special.
After much careful thought, I have decided that I need to take a break from social media to refocus. You all have been so supportive and loving to me. The words to show how grateful I am have not been invented yet. I thank you all. Please continue to send positive vibes, kind words and share the link for my fund. My #fundtolive will truly help me to be able to afford to live with cancer. If you can, please donate. https://www.crowdrise.com/kyahelaine/fundraiser/kyahikeman
I wish all of you love, peace and blessings.
