47. Any advice for novice gif makers/people who want to start making gifs?

mind your gif dimensions! you can check here for more information on that. :)

make your gifs from high quality videos for optimal results. i usually go 1080p for the try guys videos.720p isn’t too bad either, but try not to go lower than that if you can help it.

be mindful of how you crop! feel free to google something like ‘tips for cropping’ because that’s exactly what i did hahaha

always remember to sharpen your gifs!

my favorite adjustment tools are curves, levels, color balance, and selective color. i use a bunch of others too, but it will all really depend on what you’re giffing and what kind of giffing style your going for.

11. What is that one set you made that just won’t die?

oh i still get occasional notifications for the gifset where keith is freaking out about how attractive eugene is (and it’s also the most popular set i’ve made by like, a lot). i also still get notifications for this set of eugene and this set from the lie detector test, both of which i posted the month i started this blog, so that’s pretty cool

21. PSDs or original coloring for each gif?

hmm. i usually don’t care how many gifs i make in a set, what i am a little picky about are the gif proportions--i’ll always choose to make 540px gifs if it’s possible because it’s easier to do and takes up less time cropping. :)

49. How much would you say you’ve improved since you first started giffing?

aw, so much! i deleted a lot of my earliest gifs on my main blog, i just cringe thinking about them hahaha. making gifs, i feel like, is just like any skill. it’s a constant learning process so i still read tutorials from time to time, and it helps that there are so many talented gif makers on tumblr that i can learn from!
