Exactly! The cruelty that is constantly shown to Megan is awful, and was overwhelming even just watching as a fan and even now, several years later she's still the target. I don't think anolyone could blame her for completely hibernating for the rest of time. And ending her career on a torn achilles? And a missed WC penalty? While people celebrated and laughed at her? I just really can't imagine.

I think theres some truth to it, but its not completely the case. I know that because Sue was involved with the NWSL and WNBA ownership it stifled some of what Megan could say (and do - I know she wanted to be involved with the Reign but because Sue already had a stake in Gotham she couldn't be). But ultimately I think the bigger thing has been retirement, and the fact that she spent the last little while unpacking some of what happened to her in the last few years. (Not speculating here - she has said it herself on Abby's podcast and in her substack)

Im so happy that now that they broke up megan is speaking out more. I have a theory that when they were together sue didnt want her speaking out as much because she wanted to protect her image. Might be wrong but thats just what i think

Nah the reaction to the sue/pinoe break up was so disappointing. I am a pinoe fan first and human later, and its so unsurprising to me that now shes not tied to the conventionally pretty (and less political) sue that people are dropping her.

Form wise I would currently take Kerr over Esther unfortunately, though hopefully this last goal has opened the floodgates 🤞 I do feel that Gotham only benefits from them getting competitive over that club scoring record. They do have a bunch of midfielders who are not getting the minutes and I would be pushing to start other conversations.

Berger & Carter have the same agent and he is not someone known for big leaks or trying to push contracts through releasing stuff through media "leaks". They could just post on a random Thursday that Berger got a new contract just like last time in 2024. There were no rumors about a transfer from Chelsea to Gotham until it happened because the agent didn’t leak anything and seems like some players prefer it that way and good for them

Howell has been so vital for Gotham, and especially after that move, I suspect they keep her. McCaskill feels like the clearer one to be bounced to the bench tbh. I wonder if we see Esther head off after this season? Which might free up some money as well.

I would usually absolutely agree with you about Carter and Berger not wanting to start at a new club just before the World Cup, and I suspect normally that would be the case. But considering what we know about how sick Jess's dad is now, I could imagine a world where Berger stays, but Carter goes for the year. I don't want that world, but it could happen, and I do wonder if that's why we're not hearing anything about their negotiations, but we are hearing about Lavelle's. Plus, some of the decisions being made feels win now - O Sullivan for example. On loan this year, but a requirement to buy (if it as reported) could indicate some of our free agents aren't coming back.
