Real talk, though, because it needs to be said: as much as we all joke that porn was the only good thing this place had left, the reality is that it being the only place where one could regularly engage with and promote sexual content being gone is really not understanding at all what makes this place special. I mean we all joke about âhorny on mainâ and all that, but the reality is that for a lot of the LGTBQ+ community, particularly younger members still discovering themselves and members in extremely homophobic environments where most media sites were banned (but Tumblr wasnât even considered important enough to be), this was a bastion of information and self-expression. For a lot of artists too, this was a great place to come and post NSFW work and get traction that became Patreon pages that became honest jobs. The problem with âfamily friendlyâ social media is that more often than not, the ones hit the most by the whole family friendly nonsense are marginalized groups that have no vehicles to express themselves. Stuff like YouTube consistently bans or flags simple content featuring something as innocuous as two men kissing as âadultâ content and makes it hard for LGBTQ+ content creators to compete with their non-queer peers for a lot of those reasons. The ultimate problem isnât even that banning of NSFW content, itâs the general mess surrounding it and unintended consequences to these groups. For MONTHS Tumblr has had a huge problem with porn spam bots and outright child pornography, and for MONTHS the majority of the userbase has been in general consensus that both of these things needed to stop. Tumblr did NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. When Apple finally removed their app from the store, SPECIFICALLY because of the child pornography, Tumblr decided to do what any rich corporation owning a social media site with zero understanding of what makes it popular would do, and decided that the best course of action was to eat itself like an Ouroboros. Rather than admit that they have done an absolutely shit job at keeping pedophiles off this website and rather than hiring the necessary staff to carefully moderate content, they decided to loose a poorly programmed bot that literally deleted perfectly SFW blogs with thousands of followers, and rather than properly handling moderation, they decided that it was best to simply go the lazy route and block anything even remotely NSFW. They run this site in the worst way possible, and I donât understand how @support or @staff or their completely oblivious âCEOâ plans to keep this sinking ship alive.

Shit No One Told Me About My Period
I knew the basics before I got it, but I had no clueâŚ
* The blood wouldnât necessarily be red. When I first got my period, I spent a few min looking at my underwear wondering how I shit myself. I didnât know the blood could look brown, or be thick.
* That tampons werenât a good idea yet. I was 10 or 11 when I got my first period and physically smaller than an adult woman. My first attempt at inserting a tampon was very painful and unsuccessful. I wouldnât use them until I was around 14 or so.
* That when you use pads the blood can get on your bottom and Iâd have to occasionally clean off the toilet seat after using it.
* That getting your first period DOES NOT mean youâre fully developed and fully able to bear children. I could have technically gotten pregnant at that age, but I was still a child and pregnancy would have put my life in danger because I was still physically immature.
* That it wouldnât be regular for another few years.
* That very painful cramping is NOT NORMAL once you reach your 20s and is cause for concern.
* That the blood and tissue you pass can look chunky or stringy and not like blood from a cut.
* That stress can halt your period for months BUT
* That doesnât mean you canât get pregnant
Feel free to add your own
Relatable
-passing blood clots is completely normal
-that your period may straight up skip a month when you first get it
-and then itâll happen twice in the same month
-getting your period does NOT automatically make you a woman
Painful cramping isnât normal in your 20âs? Thatâs a little concerning, mine have been getting exponentially worse
It is NOT normal.Â
I can 100% guarantee you have endometriosis, PCOS, or another hormone problem. If your doctor says itâs normal, DEMAND a second opinion.Â
Thinking that itâs normal is how people end up infertile or dead. Itâs why so many women under 40 these days are having an almost impossible time either conceiving or preventing conception. Because no one teaches anyone that itâs the sign of trouble that can very seriously hurt you.Â
Anyone who has severe cramps, heavy bleeding, or irregular periods after about 19 years old should seek medical advice. None of those are normal.Â
If you have skin tags, a hard time losing weight, migraines related to your period, depression that is amplified when menstruating, severe mood swings, sleep disturbances that get worse with menstruation, or any other significant health problem that started with puberty and is worse when hormones are fluctuating you need to be checked.Â
None of the things that people relate to women on their periods is actually an example of a healthy woman. Itâs an example of people who need one form of treatment or another.Â
Do NOT go to a general doctor. Find a womenâs health center. Obgyn doctors. ASK SPECIFICALLY FOR A FEMALE DOCTOR. (Also helps with creating a demand for female doctors, win-win)
And if the doctor you do see tried to write you off as ânothingâ or âits normalâ? Politely insist for another doctor. People forget: you are paying them for a service. If you believe the doctor is not taking you or your problems seriously, ASK FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR. Specifically, âDo you have another doctor on staff who is more experienced with female healthâ. It is WELL within your right to change doctors as you see fit - you owe no loyalty to one specific doctor if they arenât meeting your needs.
Reblogging for all my followers with vaginas. I have so many sisters and friends with vaginas and I didnât know most of this. I turn 30 soon. Youâd think Iâd have pick up these bits of information over the years in conversation.

4-panel horror story.

"I felt nothing for the child, it was like an object to me."
This is so important, stories like this need to be told. The cultural insistence we have that parenthood is some kind of magical bonding that happens every time without exception does real harm to both parents and children, as you can see from some of these stories:
My father recently told me he never wanted kids, but my mother wanted them. She thought he would love us when we were born.
and
I didnât realize that a maternal instinct is not universal. You know how you see parents in the delivery room and they are crying tears of joy? I felt nothing. [âŚ] My boys are well cared for and I am always here for them, but it feels very unnatural and fake and unenjoyable. It is a bit like a retail job you donât like where you put on a fake persona and slog through it the best you can. I donât get to leave this job, though.Â
and
I also thought I wouldnât mind missing out on all the partying and holidays because I would have the ultimate gift, a child.
and
I always said I would never have children. I hate kids..I do. I am just not that type of nurturing person. I was always very careful to make sure protection was in use (condoms, birth control) but I am that .1% and apparently very fertile. I do not have that natural motherly instinct that all women seem to have, you know..that one that kicks in the moment they know theyâre pregnant. I have to work really hard at it and itâs exhausting. I miss my solitude and being able to âcheck outâ of reality from time to time.
and
Because kids arenât the life completer we believe they are.
Are there people for whom having children completes their lives? No doubt. Are there parents for whom the downsides like sleeplessness and loss of personal time are outweighed by the love and joy they feel? Of course. Are there people who change their minds about wanting kids once they have them? Sure. But thatâs not true for everyone. It doesnât happen every time, itâs never guaranteed, and the consequences are grievous when people who donât want children have them anyway trusting that they will love the child and be happy.
We need to dispel the starry-eyed myths around pregnancy, childbirth, and marriage and create more realistic expectations. Parenthood is too important a choice for people not to go into it with their eyes open.
âIt doesnât happen every time, itâs never guaranteed, and the consequences are grievous when people who donât want children have them anyway trusting that they will love the child and be happy.âÂ
This is why being told things like ââYouâll change your mind when youâre olderââ and ââIts just maternal instinct! All women got a biological clock!ââ is so harmful and dangerous.
It invalidates what people feel about it, and makes blatant stereotypes an excuse to pressure people into doing something not only dangerous (pregnancy) but potentially mentally devastating to both unwilling and unenthusiastic parents (having unwanted children) AND children (living with parents that donât want them).Â
As a childfree by choice I also support that breaking the taboo of regretting having children and realizing that becoming a parent wasnât actually the best thing for you - hell, perhaps it was indeed the worst thing ever happened to you whilst you thought otherwise - is important. You see, there are lots of jokes around how parenting is hard and parents are happy when they get free time away from kids. If you point these things out, parents quickly tell that they are in fact really happy about their children and wouldnât change a thing. Iâm sure most of them are, in all honesty. But, the joking still hides the truth that having a child is no joke; it will affect your whole life and change it completely. If I could get a coin every time I hear âI didnât know a child would change my life/relationship this muchâ Iâd be rich. Itâs important that parenting, having a child and all hardships it brings are talked about all honesty. Itâs important to be able to say that I made a mistake. Most say they feel they made a mistake because they honestly didnât know how much of a trouble having a child really means. Just look at how having a pet is talked in a much more serious manner than having a child; Donât take pet unless you can dedicate yourself fully to the animal, can feed it, take care of its vet bills, train it, offer it the right living conditions and fulfill its needs - and remember the pet can live many decades so you need to be dedicated to the animal for a long time. Having a child? No big deal! Just have one! Oh, youâre not sure? You definitely still should have one, just in case! Itâs not that bad or demanding or difficult though you can say goodbye to your freetime lol lol lol.
Children are future adults. Not playthings which should be gotten lightly.

Life always finds a way. #plants #life (at Negra y Gordos Bar!)
When you hit your elbow against something, but that specific point of your elbow
itâsâŚcalled your funny boneâŚ
that gif thoÂ
Itâs not a bone actually- itâs a nerve that is exposed, specifically the ulnar nerve. The reason it feels so weird to hit it is that itâs not designed to deliver pain signals, so when you hit it it just wiggs out and sends Garbage signals to the brain, and the brain is just like âuh, dude- Ulnar, what the hell is this garbage?? Youâre supposed to curl a finger and a half, and move some muscles in the forearm, why are you sending me this crap? How am I supposed to make this into sensory output?â And the Ulnar nerve is just like âdude dude dude, brain- what the hell is going on?!?â And the brain goes- âidiot. Fine. Youâre on fire, freezing and being electrocuted. Happy?â And the Ulnar goes âholy crap brain!! Iâm on fire, freezing and being electrocuted! What am I going to do!!??!â And the brain says âyouâre an idiot ulnar. A damn idiot.â
